Have you seen Step Brothers? Of course you have. The 2008 comedy is a classic, and it’s constantly playing on some random cable channel. If you haven’t watched the movie by now, you’re probably actively trying to avoid it, and if that’s the case…WHY????? Stop doing that.
Fans of the comedy have been asking for a sequel for years, but unfortunately their requests were ignored. Now we are learning that there was a story created for a potential sequel.
In a recent interview, Will Ferrell revealed he and director Adam McKay had at one point worked on a sequel script, and it sounds like the idea had a lot of potential. Basically, Ferrell’s character and John C. Reilly’s character would follow their parents to a retirement community and then convince their parents they’ve earned the right to be retired too.
“We talked about ‘Step Brothers,’ and then Adam and I got sidetracked with other things…We had a whole story where John and I follow our parents to live in a retirement community and try to convince them that we earned the right to retire as well.”
Sadly, the sequel is no longer on Ferrell’s or McKay’s radar, but that doesn’t mean it’ll never happen. The story is there, and if everyone’s schedules come together, who knows what might happen.
All we’re saying is that there is a chance. Don’t lose hope.
