Ron Howard Moves In To Direct ‘Star Wars’ Han Solo Movie, Phil Lord And Chris Miller Let Go From Project

Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller spent four-and-a-half months directing Disney’s untitled Han Solo movie, but unfortunately they won’t be there at the finish line.

The studio announced earlier this week that they were letting Miller and Lord go because of creative differences over style and tone between them and veteran screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan.

It was huge news in Hollywood because the project was three-quarters through principal photography. It’s extremely rare for a director to be replaced at this stage.

But it happened, and now we are learning that Ron Howard will take over the the film. Lucasfilm announced the news on Thursday…

“At Lucasfilm, we believe the highest goal of each film is to delight, carrying forward the spirit of the saga that George Lucas began forty years ago. With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce that Ron Howard will step in to direct the untitled Han Solo film. We have a wonderful script, an incredible cast and crew, and the absolute commitment to make a great movie.”

As for Lord and Miller, well they aren’t carrying any bad feelings around with them. They sent out a statement saying that for once, the tired phrase “creative differences” is true…

“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true.”

The untitled spinoff is expected to hit theaters on May 25, 2018.

Disney Sets Release Dates For Lion King, Frozen 2 And Star Wars…GET ALL THE DATES INSIDE!

Are you ready for this? Disney decided to play nice today. They revealed the release dates to several upcoming films, including the live-action Lion King, Star Wars, and Frozen 2.

Star Wars: Episode IX will be released in 3D on May 24, 2019. It was expected to be released in 2019, but it’s nice to have an actual date now.

Disney also announced that Jon Favreau’s live-action The Lion King will hit theaters July 19, 2019, which means 2019 is going to be a HUGE year for the studio. In addition to Star Wars and The Lion King, they’ll also release Frozen 2 on November 27, 2019. Oh, and you can’t forget about TOY STORY FREAKING 4 ON JUNE 21, 2019!

That’s right, folks. Star Wars, The Lion King, Toy Story 4 and the sequel to Frozen all in the same year. They are going to dominate the box office.

Before their year of domination, Disney will release the sequel to Wreck-It Ralph on November 21, 2018, and Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time gets a March 9, 2018 release date.

It’s going to be a wild few years for Disney, and we can’t wait to see how much money they bring in. Disney’s 2019 is going to smash so many records.

Disney Postpones Next ‘Star Wars’ Film, Find Out How Long You Will Have To Wait Now!

It’s been a little over a month since Star Wars: The Force Awakens took over the box office and smashed almost every record out there. And now that every hardcore fan has probably already watched the movie multiple times, they are ready for the next one to be released.

But this week, Disney announced some bad news. Fans of the franchise will have to wait even longer for Episode VIII to arrive. It was originally scheduled to be released in May of 2017, but now it has been pushed back to December 15th, 2017, which means fans will have to wait an extra seven months.

Why was the release date pushed back? We are not sure. Disney didn’t provide a reason for the delay, but we’re wiling to bet it has something to with the December release dates. Before The Force Awakens, some experts believed the December release would actually hurt the film at the box office. Obviously, that didn’t happen, so Disney probably feels comfortable sticking with the holiday time frame now.

Filming for the next movie will begin in February in London. The stand-alone Star Wars story Rogue One will be released later this year in December.

Sorry, Santa. Disney controls December now.

The Great Leonardo DiCaprio Explains Why He Decided To Pass On The Chance To Be In Star Wars Prequels

Will Leonardo DiCaprio finally get that Oscar for his performance in The Revenant? No one knows, but you can bet we will bring it up every single time we write a story about him. HE DESERVES ONE!!!

Tell him Mr. Weeknd…

Anyway, an old interview Leo did with ShortList magazine is getting a lot of attention this week. In the interview, the actor admitted he passed on the chance to play young Anakin Skywalker in two of the three Star Wars prequels.

Why would he do such a thing? Because he wasn’t ready.

I did have a meeting with George Lucas about that, yes. [I] just didn’t feel ready to take that dive. At that point.

It seems like Leo wasn’t ready for several huge roles 10-15 years ago. As some of you may remember, he was also up for the role of Peter Parker in 2002’s Spider-Man.

“Er, that was another one of those situations, similar to Robin, where I didn’t feel ready to put on that suit yet. They got in touch with me.”

You have to believe he’s not being completely honest here. He is one of the best actors in the business. Deep down, he probably feels ready for any role out there. Maybe he just felt like these roles weren’t challenging him as an actor.

Why do we believe that? Well, because when he was asked if he would ever play a superhero one day, he gave this interesting response…

“You never know. You never know. They’re getting better and better as far as complex characters in these movies. I haven’t yet. But no, I don’t rule out anything.”

7 Messages Hidden Inside Some Of Your Favorite Films

Are you one of those people who enjoy texting while watching a movie? If so, then you are about to learn some new information that could potentially make your brain explode. Even if you are someone who pays close attention to every film you watch, you still might be surprised by a few of the hidden messages below.

Honestly, this list could have just been filled with Pixar’s shenanigans, but we tried to spread the love to all genres.  And if you have any favorite hidden messages that aren’t included in this list, feel free to share them in the comment section!

No. 7 – Is That Mickey Mouse? – “Aladdin”

When Taylor Swift thinks Tim McGraw, she thinks about her favorite song. The one she danced to all night long. But when T-Swift thinks about Disney? She probably thinks about Mickey just like the rest of us. Disney has been hiding vague Micky Mouse faces inside their films for years.

One of our favorites comes in Aladdin. Near the end of the film, after Jafar’s spell is broken, you can see Rajah quickly transform into Mickey Mouse before turning back into a full-sized tiger. This brief transition can only be caught by freeze-framing the DVD.

No. 6 – Don’t Blink! – “Fight Club”

We’re going to talk about Fight Club. This movie is FILLED with secret messages, but we decided to focus on just one to keep it simple. Prior to Tyler Durden’s official introduction, he’s revealed to us four times in brief flashes. You can click here to check out the video of all four flashes.

Director David Fincher claims the purpose of the sneaky frames was to show that “our hero is creating Tyler Durden in his own mind, so at this point he exists only on the periphery of the narrator’s consciousness.”

No. 5 – Morse Code In “King Kong”

We completely understand if you missed this one. If you did happen to catch this humorous message while watching the movie with your friends, we’re willing to bet you were the only one laughing. Just before reaching Skull Island, the captain of the SS Venture receives a Morse code message calling for the arrest of Jack Black’s character, Carl Denham.

But if you actually translated the code, you’d know the audible code has nothing to do with an arrest. It actually says, “Show me the monkey!

No. 4 -The “Star Wars” and “E.T.” Connection

This was certainly a strange Easter Egg in Episode I: The Phantom Menace. After Steven Spielberg included a character in a Yoda costume and several Star Wars references inside E.T., the 68-year-old director asked his friend, George Lucas, to include members of E.T.’s species inside the Phantom Menace film.

As you can see from the photo above, Lucas delivered in a big way.

No. 3 – “Lion King” Sex?

You probably remember hearing about this one. When Simba sinks down on a cliffside, a cloud of dust spreads across the screen, and as you can see in the photo above it looks like the dust cloud spells SEX. That’s obviously a strange word to place inside a movie made for kids. Why would the animators do that?

Well, according to the film’s animators, they didn’t do that! They claim the letters were intended to spell SFX — a secret thank you message to the special effects department.

Do you believe them? Watch the clip here.

No. 2 – That’s An Odd Name – “Anchorman”

Even silly comedies like Anchorman have hidden messages. Although, this message wasn’t really hard to find if you know Spanish. Christina Applegate’s character Veronica and her female coworkers are seen eating at the lovely restaurant you see above, Escupimos en su Alimento.

Translation? We spit in your food. Seriously. You can test it out for yourself, because we all know Google is always spot-on with these translations.

No. 1 – The Masters At Pixar

As we mentioned at the start of this post, Pixar films are filled with Easter eggs. We’re talking chocolate and tightly rolled dollar bills for days. We don’t have the space to cover all the eggs, so let’s just focus on the few that made us smile. In the photo above, you can see Buzz Lightyear just chilling on the floor inside a dentist’s office in Finding Nemo.

And in the photo below, you can see Nemo making a special appearance in Monsters, Inc.

And the last photo shows Rex (Toy Story) hidden inside WALL-E’s collection…

Felicity Jones And Aaron Paul Teaming Up For ‘Star Wars’ Spinoff Movie

The rumors surrounding this 2016 Star Wars stand-alone film have been insane this week. There are obviously huge things happening behind that Disney curtain, and it looks like we now know who is behind that curtain with them.

According to multiple sources, Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) will be grabbing the female lead in the Star Wars spinoff from director Gareth Edwards. The Oscar-nominated actress will reportedly be starring in the film with Price Is Right contestant Aaron Paul.

But none of this has been confirmed. We have also heard reports that Edgar Ramirez (Deliver Us From Evil) could steal the male lead away from Paul.

It’s worth noting that the project hired a new writer last week. Chris Weitz will join the team to replace Gary Whitta, the writer behind the first draft. Speaking of the first draft, which characters will this stand-alone be focusing on? We have no idea.

Disney refuses to comment on the rumors; however, when news of the Star Wars spinoff was released, Disney CEO Bob Iger did mention they will focus on ‘great Star Wars characters that are not part of the overall saga.”

At this moment, the release date for this film is scheduled for Dec. 16, 2016.

The Five Most Anticipated 2015 Films: ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Tops List

We are just one day away from 2015, which means we are now saying goodbye to 2014. Instead of looking back at 2014, we are looking forward to the new year. There are some huge movies being released in 2015, and now we know the five films you are most looking forward to watching, thanks to a survey by Fandango.

They polled 1,000 fans on their site to determine the five most anticipated films of 2015. According to the same Fandango poll last year, Hunger Games: Mockingjay was the most anticipated film of 2014. This year, the Hunger Games franchise fell down slightly on the list, thanks to some stiff competition.

Check out the top five films (according to Fandango users) down below. Do you agree? What 2015 movie are you most excited about seeing?

No. 1 – Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Trailer

No surprise here. The internet almost exploded when the teaser trailer was released last month. Star Wars fans will have to wait all year for this movie, though. The release date is scheduled for Dec. 18, 2015. So basically you have another year to wait.

No. 2 – Avengers: Age of Ultron – Trailer

Again, this shouldn’t surprise you. This is a sequel to the most financially-successful superhero film of all-time. The original Avengers grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide. It was the first Marvel production to hit $1 billion in ticket sales. Fans of the franchise won’t have to wait too much longer for the sequel. It will open May 1, 2015.

No. 3 – Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

Just like with Star Wars, Katniss fans all over the world will have to wait until the end of the year to watch their favorite hero kick a** one last time. As some of you know, I am a huge fan of the franchise, so this is definitely one of my most anticipated films of 2015.  It is scheduled to hit theaters Nov. 20, 2015.

No. 4 – Fifty Shades of Grey – Trailer

What’s that old saying? Don’t judge a movie by its book? Some of you (me, me, me!) may dislike the story, but at least this movie is the only non-sequel on the list. We complain about sequels all the time, but that’s what the average moviegoer wants to see. Everyone is scared of originality. I mean, the only reason Fifty Shades of Grey was made into a film was because of the successful book. Studios know these films will make them money. You can watch Dakota Johnson live out your sexual fantasies on the big screen Feb. 13, 2015.

No. 5 – Jurassic World – Trailer

I am so scared to watch this film. I love the Jurassic Park franchise, but the trailer released for Jurassic World didn’t excite me. I will say that it did look a little better when I saw it on the big screen before watching the final Hobbit film, but it still has me worried. We’ll see what happens June 12, 2015.

There you have it, folks. That’s the Fandango list. Personally, I would have replaced Fifty Shades of Grey with Tomorrowland.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Teaser Trailer arrives and Silences the critics; at least for Now.

So the trailer for the new Star Wars movie finally hit the interweb and I have to say people are surprised.  Surprised and impressed.  From the start to the finish the trailer draws you in and leaves you wanting more.

The first character we see is an intense faced John Boyega.  Right then you tell yourself that Boyega is perfectly cast.  Not too big of a star and he is known already from his Sci-fi role in 2011 ‘Attack the Block’ and he is immediately believable.  We see him rockin the familiar Stormtrooper outfit and from that point on, all you can think of in your mind is, “It’s on”.

Then you see Daisy Ridley swoop in, and quickly it cuts over to Oscar Isaac piloting an X-wing leading  the other X-wings into formation, then the scene quickly flashes to what appears to be at least one of the films villains yielding a light saber.

OMG!  At this point you forget about Disney, you forget about all of your J.J. Abrams worries and your Star Wars senses are on overload.  You can’t handle anymore.  That’s when you see the Millennium Falcon swoop in and you hear the John Williams’’ classic Star Wars theme…….then your head explodes, or you applaud.  Or your head explodes while you are applauding.

For now the score is, Disney and JJ one, cynical doubting fans 0.  But this is just the first battle.  The scary part is there is so much more to come.   Enjoy the tease.
