Filmmaker/Comedian Bo Burnham Will Write Songs For Upcoming ‘Sesame Street’ Movie

Bo Burnham is one of our favorites on this site. He started off making silly songs from his bedroom on YouTube, then he became a successful comedian with two Netflix specials, and then he directed/wrote his first feature film, Eighth Grade.

It’s been a wild ride for Burnham, and the ride will continue as it’s been confirmed that he will write songs for Warner Bros/MGM’s upcoming Sesame Street movie.

In the movie directed by Jonathan Krisel, Big Bird and his Sesame Street friends are mysteriously expelled from their neighborhood, finding themselves in Manhattan. They team up with Sally Hawthorne, a plucky history-show host who’s on a quest to save her progrma and prove that Sesame Street actually exists. Obstacles are created by the ‘evil’ mayor, with reasons of his own for keeping Sesame Street hidden from the world.

Burnham is an incredibly clever songwriter, so we have no doubt he’ll knock this challenge out of the park.

This live-action Sesame Street film is expected to hit theaters January 15, 2021.

In the meantime, Burnham is set to star alongside Carey Mulligan and Laverne Cox in the upcoming crime thriller, Promising Young Woman. It’s set to hit theaters in 2020.
