Lady Gaga Reacts To Bradley Cooper Not Getting Nominated For Best Directing At The Oscars

A Star Is Born‘ received eight Oscar nominations earlier this week when the announcements were made. The film is up for Best Picture. Lady Gaga was nominated for Best Actress and Bradley Cooper is up for Best Actor; however, the Academy did not nominate him for his directing.

Many people were surprised by this. Most Best Picture nominations also land a Best Directing nomination, but for some reason they decided Cooper wasn’t worthy.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Gaga had this to say about the snub…

“You never know what’s going to happen. But at the end of the day, he knows that he’s the best director in my eyes, and in all of our eyes as his cast. I know that he’s so happy that we’ve all been nominated and that the film was recognized and we all feel really, really beyond elated for the recognition.”

Gaga also stated that she hopes Bradley Cooper joins her on the stage when she performs ‘Shallow’ at the upcoming awards show. All the Best Song nominations usually get performed during the ceremony, and it would be pretty special if Bradley joined her for a duet.

“We love to perform and we love to make art, so we’ll make it happen. That would be a tremendous honor to perform that song at the Oscars.”

The 2019 Academy Awards will air on ABC February 24.
