Whoopi Goldberg Confirms That She’s Trying To Develop A ‘Sister Act 3’ Film

Way back in 1992, Whoopi Goldberg delighted fans with the musical comedy film, Sister Act. In the film, Goldberg plays a lounge singer who is sent to a convent after being placed in a witness protection program.

Audiences around the world loved the movie, and just one year later, Whoopi came back for Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. The sequel (as to be expected) wasn’t as loved as the original film, but it still had a decent run at the box office.

Now nearly 30 years later, Whoopi is hoping for a third film. The 64-year-old star was on The Late Late Show this week, and she talked about the possibility of Sister Act 3.

For a long time, they kept saying no one wanted to see it. And then quite recently, it turns out, that that may not be true. People may want to see it. So we’re working diligently to try to figure out how to get the gang together and come back.

It’s fun and it feels good. And you know, nobody’s mad. It’s just, listen—bad singing, great singing, okay singing and then nuns. What’s better than that?

So there you go. If you’ve been holding out hope for a Sister Act 3, it looks like God might be answering your prayers soon.
