Watch The First Trailer For ‘Sonic The Hedgehog 2’ Starring Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey And Idris Elba

After making a surprising (some might say shocking) $319 million at the worldwide box office, Sonic the Hedgehog, was quickly given the green light for a sequel.

Ben Schwartz and Jim Carrey have returned to the cast, and in this sequel, they’ll be joined by Idris Elba, who will be voicing Knuckles.

In the sequel, Sonic is ready for more freedom after settling into Green Hill, and Tom (Marsden) and Maddie (Sumpter) agree to leave him home while they go on vacation. However, the evil Dr. Robotnik comes back, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to both build and destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with Tails and together they embark on a journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.

Really, the whole team has returned for this sequel, including director Jeff Fowler and screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller.

I suppose they figured if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will hit theaters April 18, 2022, and as long as there’s no new strain slamming the country, it should do very well.

Watch The Final Trailer For ‘A Quiet Place Part II’ Starring Emily Blunt

After a year of delays (thanks to Covid) A Quiet Place II is finally set to be released in just a few weeks.

It’s scheduled to premiere inside theaters across the country on May 28, and it has the potential to be the first real box office smash post-covid. That’s what everyone is hoping for at least.

To get everyone more hyped, the studio released one final trailer for the sequel, which stars Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Cillian Murphy and Noah Jupe.

John Krasinski’s character will appear in flashbacks, cause you know, he died in the first film. YEAH, SPOILER…WHY ARE YOU READING THIS IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCH THE FIRST MOVIE?

A Quiet Place Part II is directed by Krasinski, who also writes with Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. Krasinski, JoAnn Perritano and Allyson Seeger executive produce, while Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller serve as producers.

The first film was released back in 2018 and made nearly $350 million at the box office. It was made for just $20 million, so you can see why the studio wanted more.

James Cameron Reveals Filming On ‘Avatar 2’ Is 100% Complete, ‘Avatar 3’ Is Close To Being Completed As Well

Believe it or not, the ‘Avatar‘ sequels are still coming. The original ‘Avatar’ film was released back in 2009, and you all know the story. It was a huge hit and made over $2 billion worldwide at the box office.

Now, 11 years later, James Cameron is knee deep in making multiple sequels. He announced that he has plans to make five total films in the franchise.

In a new interview, Cameron revealed that filming on ‘Avatar 2’ is 100% complete. He also revealed that filming on the third film is already 95% complete.

We’re very lucky in that we chose this as our production site years ago. We made the first film here in New Zealand and it turns out to be ranking first or second best country in the world for its COVID response.

We’re able to operate. We’re able to shoot and have a more or less normal life here. We were very fortunate, so I don’t see any roadblocks to us getting the picture finished, getting both pictures finished.

But due to COVID-19 hitting, the production was delayed nearly five months earlier this year, so they were forced to move back the release date of all the films.

In July, Disney moved all the Avatar sequels, setting Avatar 2 on December 16, 2022 and Avatar 3 on December 20, 2024. The fourth and fifth pictures are due in 2026 and 2028.

So if all goes according to plan, the fifth film in the franchise will be released nearly 20 years after the first movie.

The big question is, will people still care about these movies in 2028? Hard to tell, but I suppose it’s all dependent on how the first few sequels are received.

Bad News: Hollywood Fears Worst Box Office Summer In A Decade

This summer is going to be filled with sequels and remakes. It feels like we say that every year, but this year it’s especially true.

You have Pirates of the Caribbean 5, The Nut Job 2, Despicable Me 3, Cars 3, Transformers 5, Alien: Covenant, War for the Planet of the Apes, and the list goes on and on.

And typically, sequels, remakes, and franchises bring in a lot of money. But looking at the list above, the titles aren’t that impressive. The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is not as strong, and the Transformers franchise is on its way out.

This summer is going to be filled with films that just do “okay,” and that’s not good enough. One of the biggest movies of the summer (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2) has already been released, and the important people in Hollywood fear it will only go down from here.

“One studio number cruncher puts the decline as high as 10 percent. Two others agree that, absent surprises, 2017 won’t match 2016. If their pessimism is correct, this summer is shaping up to be the worst since 2014.”

But some experts predict this summer could be even worse than that. If there are no surprise hits, experts claim this summer’s box office could be the worst we’ve seen in a decade.

We’ll see what happens. If the experts are correct, you can expect to see studios making some major changes in the coming years.

It’s Going To Be Okay, George Miller Confirms He Still Plans To Make More ‘Mad Max’ Films!

mill

We have some good news to report this Friday. You may remember hearing earlier this week that director George Miller was finished with the Mad Max franchise. We even reported the news a few days ago. It was pretty shocking for Mad Max fans around the world, especially when you consider the success of Fury Road.

But now we are happy to report that Miller is still planning on making two more Mad Max films. The director clarified his comments yesterday by explaining the reporter didn’t understand what he was trying to say.

“That was a completely garbled interview. I was in New York and it was so noisy and the journalist was asking me questions on a red carpet at the National Board of Review. She completely got the wrong fragments of information that were just not true. I said no, [another Mad Max movie] will not be next, and she took that to mean I never wanted to make another Mad Max. It won’t necessarily be next, but I have two more stories.”

Basically, the reporter thought Miller said he wouldn’t be returning to wasteland, but all he really said was that he wanted to work on a separate project before returning. He simply needs a break, which is certainly understandable because filming these Mad Max films are not easy.

This news should be enough to power you through the final hours of work before the weekend. You are welcome.

Sony Pictures Reveals Release Dates For ‘Jumanji’ Reboot And ‘Bad Boys 3 & 4’

Good news for you sequel/reboot fans around the world. Sony Pictures made some pretty huge announcements this week. They decided to set official theatrical release dates for the new Jumanji reboot, as well as Bad Boys 3 AND Bad Boys 4.

Jumanji will arrive inside theaters on December 25th, 2016. Details on the project are still hard to find, but we do know it will be a new take on the original film which was released back in 1995. As most of you know, Robin Williams was the star of the original film. It’s hard to imagine a Jumanji world without Williams in it, but we’ll see what the team behind this new version can do. Zach Helm (Stranger Than Fiction) is reportedly writing the script.

In addition to the exciting Jumanji news, Sony also announced the release date for Bad Boys 3. The film won’t hit theaters until February 17th, 2017. We’re still not 100% sure if Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will return for the film, but it looks like the big reunion just might happen. A year ago, Lawrence talked about the film during an appearance on Conan.

“I believe so. Yes. I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday and he said its real, they’re working on the script, they’re getting close and it all looks good.”

Plus, Sony seems to be confident in this sequel, because they already announced the release date for Bad Boys 4. It’s scheduled for a July 3rd, 2019, release date.

We will keep you posted on both projects as we learn more information.
