Kurt Russell Will Play Santa Claus In Netflix Christmas Movie Being Produced By Chris Columbus

This time next year, Kurt Russell will be Santa Claus. The actor will star in a Netflix original film being produced by Chris Columbus. In addition to Russell, Judah Lewis (The Babysitter) and Darby Camp (Big Little Lies) will also star in the live-action movie, which plans to sprinkle in some CG elements.

Obviously this film is in good hands with Columbus producing. He directed Home Alone and wrote Gremlins. Hopefully his involvement as producer actually means something with this film. Sometimes people are just listed as producers, even though they didn’t put much effort in the project.

So what will this movie be about? The Hollywood Reporter has the details…

“The story centers on two siblings (Lewis and Camp) who try to prove that Santa is real by catching him on camera. When they accidentally cause his sleigh to crash in Chicago, they have to help get Christmas back on track before it’s ruined. Russell is playing jolly ol’ Saint Nick.”

It does not have a title yet, although it was originally called 12/24. No official release date has been announced, but we know filming is set to begin in January, so it’s likely this film gets released in December 2018.

We will keep you posted!
