Reports Say Jena Malone Was Cut From Batman V Superman’s Theatrical Release

Fans of Jena Malone will have to wait until the R-rated director’s cut of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is released on Blu-ray to see their favorite actress in action. The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly features a detailed cover story about the upcoming film, and in the middle of the story, they briefly talk about Malone’s character.

And before you get too excited, they still didn’t announce who she will be playing in the movie. And we might not get the answer this month because the report claims her scenes have been cut from the theatrical release.

Does this mean her scenes were just too edgy for the PG-13 release? Probably not. Her role was always expected to be small, so it’s likely they just didn’t have enough room for her in the final cut. We’re already looking at a run time of 151 minutes, and they probably had to work extremely hard to trim it down that much. We have a feeling this could have easily been a three-hour movie.

In any event, some people believe the studio is making a mistake by promoting this R-rated home version of the film before the PG-13 version even hits theaters. Obviously, the film is still going to make a lot of money at the box office, but they might lose some people who would rather wait to see the original/full version at home.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will be in a theater near you March 25, 2016.
