Mark Ruffalo Set To Co-Star Alongside Emma Stone In Yorgos Lanthimos’ Upcoming Film ‘Poor Things’

No surprise here! Yorgos Lanthimos is putting together an impressive cast for his upcoming adaptation of Alasdair Grey’s novel, Poor Things.

We already knew Emma Stone and Willem Dafoe were set to star, and now it was just announced that Mark Ruffalo will also join the cast.

Poor Things is a Frankenstein-esque tale set in the Victorian-era, described as a story of ‘love, discovery and scientific daring,’ focusing on a young woman named Belle Baxter (Stone) brought back to life by an eccentric but brilliant scientist.

Certainly sounds right up Yorgos’ alley, huh? This is a dude who has brought us films like The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

Tony McNamara wrote the script for this adaptation, which is significant because he also co-wrote The Favourite and earned an Oscar nomination for his work on the film.

No word on when filming is set to begin on this flick, but we do know Ruffalo just wrapped filming on the Netflix sci-fi movie, The Adam Project, where he worked with Ryan Reynolds and Jennifer Garner.

We’ll keep you posted.
