The Cast For Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ Grows Bigger With Matt Damon And Robert Downey Jr.

If it feels like every top actor in Hollywood wants to work with Christopher Nolan, it’s probably because they do.

Nolan’s upcoming film, Oppenheimer, already features a cast that includes Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy, and now we are learning Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr. will be joining them.

Nolan is writing and directing the film that revolves around J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who ran the Manhattan Project that led to the invention of the atomic bomb

The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on July 21, 2023, so we’re assuming filming will take place in early 2022.

No word on who Downey Jr. or Damon will be playing. The details surrounding this project are being kept secret, which is the case for most Nolan movies.

Universal will distribute Oppenheimer theatrically worldwide and release the film in North America. Nolan will also be producing along with Emma Thomas and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven. The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.

Nolan’s most recent film, Tenet, was one of the first big blockbusters released after (or really during) the COVID-19 pandemic. It stumbled out of the gate, but did end up making around $360 million worldwide, which is not terrible, but still not great considering it was made for a ridiculous $200 million… not including marketing.

Emily Blunt Is Reportedly In Talks To Star In Christopher Nolan’s Latest Film ‘Oppenheimer’

Christoper Nolan is deep in preparation for his upcoming film, Oppenheimer, which is reportedly a World War II drama.

As some of you may have already heard, Cillian Murphy has already signed on to the project. He will be playing J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who ran the Manhattan Project that led to the invention of the atomic bomb.

And according to these new reports, Emily Blunt is currently in talks to play his wife in the film. They will be the two leads, but sources say the movie will have an all-star ensemble, which is to be expected. Everyone wants to work with Nolan.

Universal picked up this project after an intense bidding war. They were competing against nearly every major studio/streamer in town.

It’s scheduled to be released on July 21, 2023, which seems to be a favorite date of Nolan’s. Dunkirk was also released on July 21, and Inception was released just one week earlier on July 13.

We’ll keep you posted on this project, but for right now, Blunt is all but locked.
