Noah Baumbach Signs Exclusive Deal With Netflix, Says He Has Found A Home

At 51-years-old, Noah Baumbach has had a lot of success in Hollywood, but that doesn’t mean he’s found a home. And no, we’re not talking about an actual house. We’re sure he has a very nice one.

We’re talking about a partnership with a studio. A place he feels will always have his back and entertain his ideas.

Thankfully, that’s changing though. It was just announced that Baumbach has signed an exclusive deal with Netflix. He will exclusively write/direct films for the streaming giant for the next several years.

He released a short statement on the deal:

When I started in the film industry I dreamed of having a home. It took me about 25 years, but it was worth the wait. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be making movies with Ted and Scott and everyone at Netflix, who are wonderful collaborators and friends and family.

As some of you may know, Baumbach and Neflix have worked quite well together the past few years. He released The Meyerowitz Stories back in 2017 to rave reviws.

And in 2019, he teamed up with Netflix again for ‘Marriage Story,’ which was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

Safe to say, this deal is going to work out well for both Baumbach and Netflix.

Baumbach’s next film is White Noise, an adaptation of Don DeLillo’s seminal novel. It had been reported that Driver and Greta Gerwig would be starring in the pic, and while its not confirmed sources say the two are in discussions to star in the adaptation

Filming will begin later this year.

Check Out Zendaya And John David Washington In The First Trailer For ‘Malcolm & Marie’

A million years ago, we told you about how Zendaya had teamed up with ‘Euphoria‘ creator Sam Levinson to produce a film during the beginning of the pandemic.

They shot everything in secret in a beautiful location in California, and it all started with a phone call. According to the report, Zendaya was bored, not being able to film the second season of Euphoria, so she called up Levinson and told him to write a movie for her.

Not long after, he had a completed script and they managed to convince John David Washington to star alongside Zendaya.

After completing production, Netflix was quick to pick up the film. They picked it up for a cool $30 million, and now it’s set to be released on the streaming giant in February.

Malcolm & Marie sees a filmmaker (Washington) and his girlfriend (Zendaya) return home following a celebratory movie premiere as he awaits what’s sure to be imminent critical and financial success. The evening suddenly takes a turn as revelations about their relationships begin to surface, testing the strength of their love.

Malcolm & Marie will be released on Netflix on February 5. Check out the trailer below…

Keith Powers Will Co-Star Alongside Gabrielle Union In Netflix Romantic Comedy ‘The Perfect Find’

Gabrielle Union has found her co-star. It was announced this week that Keith Powers is joining the upcoming Netflix romantic comedy, The Perfect Find.

The movie is based on the 2016 bestselling novel of the same name by Tia Williams.

Union stars as Jenna Jones, who is hopeful that her new job in beauty journalism will be a fresh start in her life. She soon learns that her new boss, Darcy, is her frenemy. Jenna starts a relationship with the company’s videographer, Eric, and things get complicated when she learns he’s Darcy’s son.

If we’re being completely honest, it sounds pretty generic, but sometimes that’s okay for romcoms. Sometimes all you need is good chemistry on screen and some funny moments.

Union will also be producing this flick under her I’ll Have Another banner. No word on when filming might begin, but we’re assuming it’ll get started early next year.

It’s set to be directed by Numa Perrier, who wrote/directed the 2019 film Jezebel, which you can watch right now on Netflix.

Watch Anthony Mackie In The First Trailer For Netflix Action-Thriller ‘Outside The Wire’

Is it a sci-fi? A thriller? Action? Or all three? The first trailer for ‘Outside The Wire‘ was released this week.

The movie stars Anthony Mackie, Enzo Cilenti, Emily Beecham, Michael Kelly and Damson Idris. It was directed by Mikael Håfström and written by Rowan Athale.

Set in the future, about a drone pilot (Idris) who is sent into a deadly militarized zone where he finds himself working for an android officer (Mackie) tasked to locate a doomsday device before insurgents do.

Well, it sounds thrilling, promises some action, and because it involves the future and drones, I suppose you could say there are sci-fi elements. WE HIT ALL THREE BABY!

The trailer actually looks pretty decent, so I’m kinda excited for this one. It’s set to be released on Netflix, January 15 2021.

Chris Evans Joins Adam McKay’s ‘Don’t Look Up’ Film, Which Already Has Impressive Cast

Wow. Adam McKay is building one of the most impressive casts in recent history for his upcoming Netflix film, Don’t Look Up.

It was just announced that Chris Evans will join the project, which is huge news, but it’s kinda like, “Oh, another one? Yawn.” because so many stars have already been attached to this project.

This movie already has Jennifer Lawrence, Timothee Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Kid Cudi, and let’s throw in Matthew Perry as well.

That is truly impressive. I mean, sometimes movies with so many stars fail because you have all these big personalities coming together, but McKay is talented enough to handle it all.

McKay will write, direct and co-produce along with Kevin Messick under McKay’s Hyperobject Industries Banner.

The film follows two low-level astronomers who embark on a media tour to warn mankind of an approaching asteroid that will destroy Earth. Details are unknown of who Evans would be playing.

It certainly sounds like an interesting premise, and with all this incredible talent attached, I have high hopes for this movie.

Filming is currently happening right now in Boston, which means it should be released sometime in 2021. We’ll keep you posted.

Watch The First Trailer For Netflix Film ‘The Dig’ Starring Ralph Fiennes

It’s been a minute since we’ve had a new trailer to share with you all, but thanks to Netflix, we have one today.

The streaming giant released the first trailer for the period romantic drama, The Dig.

The movie stars Ralph Fiennes, Carey Mulligan, and Lily James.

In The Dig, as WWII looms, a wealthy widow hires an amateur archaeologist to excavate the burial mounds on her estate. When they make a historic discovery, the echoes of Britain’s past resonate in the face of its uncertain future‎.

This project is actually based on the novel of the same name by John Preston, which was released back in 2007.

Netflix is set to release the film in select theaters on January 15, followed by a streaming release of January 29, 2021.

Netflix Purchases Naomi Watts Starring Film ‘Penguin Bloom’

The real-life survival story ‘Penguin Bloom‘ premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year.

The film is based on the true story of Samantha Bloom. An active and loving mother from Australia who suffered a freak accident while on vacation with her family and became paralyzed from the chest down.

Naomi Watts stars as Bloom in the film, and Andrew Lincoln (The Walking Dead) plays her husband.

It was just announced that Netflix acquired rights to the film in the United States, the U.K. and France. It’ll release the film on its streaming service on January 27, 2021.

The film is a passion project for Watts, who produced through her Jam Tart Films alongside Emma Cooper and Made Up Stories’ Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky and Jodi Matterson. Endeavor Content brokered the sale.

It should be an emotional/uplifting story, and with Watts in the starring role, you know there will be some great acting.

No trailer has been released yet.

Judd Apatow Set To Make Pandemic Comedy Film For Netflix

Most people have stated that they have no interest in pandemic movies, especially as we’re currently still living in the pandemic.

But Hollywood doesn’t seem to be listening. A few pandemic movies have already been released, and there are several filming right now.

And it looks like you can add at least one more. Judd Apatow is reportedly developing an untitled pandemic comedy film for Netflix.

The film follows a group of actors and actresses stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a film.

So he’s going real meta with it. No stars are attached to the project, but Netflix is fast-tracking it and Apatow is preparing to meet with actors in the coming weeks.

The film is not only a big deal because it marks another top talent headed to Netflix, but it also will mark the first feature film Apatow directs that isn’t at Universal, the studio he’s called home since his break-out blockbuster comedy The 40-Year Old Virgin in 2005. Since then, the two have created a juggernaut of comedy hits that Apatow not only directed like Knocked Up and Trainwreck, but produced as well like Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

They’ll probably want to start filming this after the holidays in January, which is why they’re trying to meet with actors before the holidays to get them locked up.

We’ll keep you posted.

First Images From Robert Rodriguez’s Netflix Film ‘We Can Be Heroes’ Have Arrived!

Back in 2001, Robert Rodriguez delighted families across the world with the family-action film, Spy Kids. The movie was a huge hit (still is) and it sparked three sequels.

In total, the franchise has earned over $500 million at the box office, and it’s also made a lot of money from merchandise and games.

Now in 2020, Rodriguez has decided to return to the family-action universe. He wrote and directed the upcoming superhero film, We Can Be Heroes.

After their parents have been kidnapped by alien invaders, the children of Earth’s superheroes team up and learn to work together to save their parents and the world.

The film stars Christian Slater, Priyanka Chopra, Pedro Pascal and Sung Kang. It was purchased by Netflix, and is set to hit the streaming service on January 1, 2021.

According to the reports, it’s set in the Sharkboy universe, so it’s kinda like a sequel without actually being a sequel.

We’re still waiting on a trailer to drop, but in the meantime, enjoy the first-look images below…

Idris Elba’s ‘Concrete Cowboy’ Film Lands Deal With Netflix, Set For 2021 Release

Back in September, Idris Elba’s urban western ‘Concrete Cowboy’‘ debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival.

And now, just one month later, it’s been revealed that Netflix has picked up the film for distribution. No official release date has been announced, but it’s expected to come in 2021.

The film stars Elba and ‘Stranger Things‘ star Caleb McLaughlin.

It follows 15-year-old Cole (Caleb McLaughlin), who discovers the world of urban horseback riding when his mother sends him to live with his estranged father, Harp (Elba) in North Philadelphia

Clifford ‘Method Man’ Smith, Lorraine Toussaint and Jharrel Jerome also star in the film.

By the way, if you’re wondering how McLaughlin felt going from Stranger Things to working with Idris Elba on a feature film…well, he was understandably a little nervous.

I definitely was intimidated coming onto set because I wanted to be on my A-game. I look up to Idris and all of his work; he’s a seasoned actor and everything. But he made me feel very comfortable being on the set and communicating and the dynamics between the father and son relationship. It was a lot of fun working with him.

Can’t wait to watch this film!
