The Big Short is certainly not short on talent. The movie has an all-start cast featuring Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale and Steve Carell. That’s like creating a baseball team with Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron and Ted Williams.
And speaking of baseball, do you all remember the 2011 film Moneyball? There are actually two huge connections between Moneyball and The Big Short. The first one being Brad Pitt stars in both films, and the second one is that both films are based on books by superstar author Michael Lewis.
This latest film is based on his 2010 book, “The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine“, which told the story of a few people who actually made money by predicting the bursting of the housing bubble. The book spent 28 weeks on the New York Times best-seller list.
Adam McKay (Step Brothers, Anchorman) directed the film. And as we (and everyone else) mentioned, the movie is full of talent. In addition to the stars listed above, you also have Oscar-winner Melissa Leo and the always lovely Marisa Tomei.
The film is scheduled to debut at AFI Fest in November, and then it will be released nationwide December 23, 2015.
