Watch The First Trailer For ‘The Gentlemen’ Starring Matthew McConaughey

Guy Ritchie is returning to the land of crime in the upcoming crime thriller, The Gentlemen.

The talented filmmaker took a brief break from his ~roots~ to direct the recent ‘Aladdin‘ film, but now he’s returning to form, and he’s bringing a talented cast with him.

Matthew McConaughey stars in the movie as Mickey Pearson, an American who has built a marijuana empire in London and is looking to retire.

The news that Pearson wants to cash out sparks a series of schemes and infighting among those around him as they seek to take what he has built.

In addition to McConaughey, this film also stars Charlie Hunnam, Hugh Grant and Henry Golding.

The Gentlemen will hit theaters January 24, 2020, which is a questionable release date, but the trailer looks decent…so who knows?

Watch Matthew McConaughey’s Audition Tape For His Iconic Role In ‘Dazed and Confused’

I think we can all agree that Dazed and Confused is a classic. I’ve watched it with several people, all different ages, and every single one of them loved the movie. It was released 25 years ago, but it could have been released today and been just as successful.

One of the most memorable roles in the movie was Matthew McConaughey’s David Wooderson. It was the role that made McConaughey a legit star.

Would you be surprised to learn that he almost didn’t get it? The director of the movie, the talented Richard Linklater, did not think McConaughey was right for the part when he first saw him.

“When I first met Matthew, he came in and he’s, like, this really good-looking, clean-cut guy, and that threw me off, cause I never saw Wooderson like that. I was, like, ‘No, you’re not right for this part.’ I’m thinking this after just meeting him, and he looked at me, and he goes, ‘Hey, I’m not this guy, but I know this guy. I know this guy.’”

And so he auditioned and Linklater was blown away. He became Wooderson just like that, and if you don’t believe him, watch McConaughey’s audition tape below…

Watch The Strange Trailer For ‘The Beach Bum’ Starring Zac Efron And Matthew McConaughey

If you’re a fan of Harmony Korine, then we have some good news for you. The indie filmmaker has returned to the land of features after six long years. His last feature-length film, Spring Breakers, came out to mixed reviews in 2012.

His latest film, The Beach Bum, has some star talent in it. Matthew McConaughey stars in the movie as a rebellious poet living in Miami who does things his own way. Zac Efron, Isla Fisher, Martin Lawrence and Snoop Dogg also star.

“The film has already made headlines for McConaughey’s stories of smoking real weed on set with Snoop Dogg, who would trade out the prop marijuana for the real thing without the actor’s knowledge.”

Classic Snoop. The bizarre movie is set to hit theaters March 22, 2019. Check out the trailer below…

The First Trailer For Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower’ Is Here, Watch Matthew McConaughey And Idris Elba Battle It Out!

It’s a wonderful day for fans of Stephen King’s novel The Dark Tower. It hasn’t been easy making this film, and at times it looked like it might not ever be made.

But here we are. In just three months, The Dark Tower adaptation will hit theaters, and fans could not be more excited, especially after watching the first trailer.

The trailer was released this week. It stars Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba. They promoted the trailer by jumping on Twitter as their characters…

You can check out the official synopsis and trailer below. It will hit theaters August 4, 2017.

“Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), the last Gunslinger, is locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim (Matthew McConaughey), also known as the Man in Black. The Gunslinger must prevent the Man in Black from toppling the Dark Tower, the key that holds the universe together. With the fate of worlds at stake, two men collide in the ultimate battle between good and evil.”

Matthew McConaughey Explains Why He Chose ‘The Dark Tower’ Over Guardians Of The Galaxy 2

When casting for Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, was going on, a huge name was being teased for the coveted role of Star-Lord’s father.

That name was Matthew McConaughey. He was the top choice to play the character and for a month or so, it looked like the deal was pretty much done. But as you all know by now, McConaughey passed on the role and Kurt Russell stepped in to take his place.

It was later revealed that the 47-year-old actor passed on the role because he wanted to work on the Stephen King adaption The Dark Tower.

And in a new interview with Playboy, Mr. Alright explained why he chose Dark Tower over Guardians of the Galaxy:

“I like Guardians of the Galaxy, but what I saw was ‘It’s successful, and now we’ve got room to make a colorful part for another big-name actor.’ I’d feel like an amendment. The Dark Tower script was well written, I like the director [Nikolaj Arcel] and his take on it, and I can be the creator, the author of the Man in Black—a.k.a. the Devil—in my version of this Stephen King novel. It’s a fantastic thriller that takes place in another realm, an alternate universe, but it’s very much grounded. For instance, the gunslinger’s weapon isn’t a lightsaber or something; it’s a pistol.”

Makes sense to us. He wanted to take a chance and do something a little different. He wanted his own character that he could play around with.

You have to respect that. He didn’t go for the easy role. He’s grown a lot since his Failure to Launch days.

Matthew McConaughey Has A YouTube Channel And Almost No One Knows About It…

Trying to be successful on YouTube is impossible now. The site pushes sponsored videos and makes it nearly impossible to find original content from users who are just starting out. Unless you’re kissing “strangers” in public or pranking people by punching them in the face, your odds of becoming a star on YouTube are slim.

Don’t believe me? Well, let’s look at Matthew McConaughey. He’s one of the hottest movie stars in the world. He won a freaking Oscar and has millions of followers on Twitter.

But on YouTube? He doesn’t even have 500 subscribers, at least not at the moment. That will probably change though, thanks to this post on Reddit. A user shared the video you see above to the site, explaining that Mr. McConaughey has an official (verified) YouTube channel that no one watches.

He mainly uses the site to promote his charities, but he’ll also upload trailers to his upcoming movies. Just a few months ago he uploaded the trailer to his animated musical comedy Sing, which is scheduled to hit theaters December 21, 2016.

To be clear here, it doesn’t look like McConaughey is actually uploading these videos to his channel and giving them terrible titles on his own. He uses Whosay to publish his videos and photos on all of his social media accounts, which is probably why the titles are so messed up.

Still, it’s interesting to see someone that famous fly under the radar. Makes you wonder if there are more celebrities hiding out on YouTube.

The “Worst Movie” From The Cannes Film Festival Has Released Its First Trailer, Watch Matthew McConaughey In ‘The Sea Of Trees’

seaa

Before premiering at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, everyone was excited about The Sea Of Trees. A fresh film from the talented director Gus Van Sant starring Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey. People had good reason to be excited.

Sadly, the film got destroyed by critics after its premiere. It was the most disappointing film of the festival and some critics even said it was Gus Van Sant’s worst movie ever.

Before the film premiered at the festival, Lionsgate had purchased distribution rights, but after the terrible reviews came out…they dropped it like it was hawt. This made everyone wonder if the film would ever be released inside theaters.

And surprisingly, A24 came to the rescue. We say surprisingly because they almost never make a mistake. Most of their films score well with critics and the audience, so for them to pick up a film that had such terrible reviews is a bit surprising.

In any event, they released the first trailer for the film, which is scheduled to open in select theaters August 26. Naomi Watts, Ken Watanabe and Mr. McConaughey star.

Check out the synopsis and trailer below. By the way, the trailer actually doesn’t look that bad. It might be worth checking out just to see what upset the critics so much.

“Matthew McConaughey stars as Arthur Brennan, an American professor who travels to Japan in the midst of a personal crisis. As he wanders through a mysterious forest with a dark past, he experiences flashbacks of his fraught but loving relationship with his wife, Joan (Naomi Watts), and meets an enigmatic stranger, Takumi (Ken Watanabe), who is lost and injured. Arthur devotes himself to saving Takumi and returning him home to safety, and the two embark on a spiritual, life-changing journey of friendship, discovery, and healing.”

Stephen King Has Made It Official: Matthew McConaughey And Idris Elba Will Star In ‘The Dark Tower’

kin

We knew there was at least a 90% chance of this happening, but now we can increase things to 100%, thanks to a series of tweets from Stephen King. The film version of The Dark Tower is finally moving forward, and it’s going to have two huge names leading the way.

Idris Elba has been confirmed to play the gunslinger Roland Deschain, and Matthew McConaughey will show off his acting range by playing villain Randall Flagg. Obviously, this is great casting news because both Elba and McConaughey are incredible actors, but honestly it’s just nice to know that production is finally getting started.

Stephen King and the film’s director Nikolaj Arcel spoke to Entertainment Weekly earlier this week to provide some more details on the exciting news.

“The thing is, it’s been a looong trip from the books to the film. When you think about it, I started these stories as a senior in college, sitting in a little sh-tty cabin beside the river in Maine, and finally this thing is actually in pre-production now. I’m delighted, and I’m a little bit surprised.”

I think we’re all a little bit surprised and delighted. During the interview, Arcel and King gave everyone a few details about how the first film might play out.

According to the author, the first film will begin in the middle of the events instead of at the beginning…

“[The movie] starts in media res, in the middle of the story instead of at the beginning, which may upset some of the fans a little bit, but they’ll get behind it, because it is the story.”

The first film in the series is expected to hit theaters January 13, 2017.

Matthew McConaughey Turned Down Villain Role For Guardians of the Galaxy 2

mat

As one of the hottest actors in Hollywood, we’re sure Matthew McConaughey gets offered dozens of roles every single day. Obviously he can’t accept every role. He has to sleep, you know? And he has a wife and kids. We hear those things are pretty important in life.

We’re not sure if his busy schedule had anything to do with him turning down an important role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 though. You may remember hearing a few months ago that the 45-year-old actor had read scripts from Marvel Studios and DC Entertainment. At the time, there were rumors going around that Marvel wanted him to play supervillain Norman Osborn in a Spider-Man film.

Now we have learned those rumors were just a little off. Marvel did offer him a villain role, but it was for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Variety is reporting that the actor was seriously considering the role; however, he recently decided to decline their offer.

The studio is currently searching for another actor to take his place. According to the report, we should expect to hear an announcement soon. Production will begin on the movie early next year, and it’s expected to be released in May of 2017.

McConaughey’s next big film, Gold, is scheduled to be released next year.
