It’s Official: Warner Bros Has Approved Robert Pattinson For ‘The Batman’

We told you earlier this month that Robert Pattinson was being considered by Warner Bros to play Batman in the upcoming ‘The Batman‘ film.

Matt Reeves, the director of the movie, was apparently set on Pattinson, but the studio was torn between Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult.

According to a new report from Deadline, the studio had Hoult and Pattinson perform an on tape audition “because this is such a big decision on a cornerstone Warner Bros DC franchise.”

The execs say that while Hoult was impressive, they have decided to go with Pattinson. Sources say negotiations will start immediately and an announcement from the studio should be coming soon.

Pattinson is a strong choice. He certainly has been at the center of a zeitgest franchise before in Twilight Saga, and he has used the time after to show his chops as an actor in films like High Life, and is starring for Warner Bros in Christopher Nolan’s next film, and just debuted in the Robert Eggers-directed The Lighthouse at Cannes.

I think Pattinson is going to nail it. As some of you know, I’m not a huge fan of superhero films, but I’m actually excited for this movie. Pattinson is an incredible actor. I have high hopes.

‘The Batman’ is scheduled for a June 15, 2021 release date.

Robert Pattinson Will Reportedly Be The Next Batman For Upcoming Warner Bros. Pic

Were you wondering who was going to replace Ben Affleck as Batman in the upcoming Batman flick from Warner Bros.? Wonder no more.

Director Matt Reeves and Warner Bros. have apparently agreed to hire Robert Pattinson as the next Batman. It’s a bit of a surprising move and if the deal goes through, Pattinson will be the youngest actor to ever play the superhero at just 33-years-old.

That being said, Pattinson is not your typical 33-year-old actor. He has completely reinvented himself after shooting to worldwide fame thanks to the ‘Twilight‘ franchise.

He has focused on mainly indie flicks lately and has proven himself to be a superb actor. That being said, Affleck is also a great actor and his turn at Batman didn’t quite go as planned.

Filming on this new Batman movie will reportedly start in late 2019 or early 2020.

Last we heard, it’s expected to hit theaters June 25, 2021. I know this news hasn’t been confirmed, but I can’t stop myself from getting excited. I’m really pumped to see what Pattinson can bring to the table.

Ben Affleck Officially Says Goodbye To Batman During Appearance On Jimmy Kimmel Live! (VIDEO)

We were all so excited when we learned Ben Affleck would be joining the Batman franchise. Everyone thought he’d make a wonderful Bruce Wayne, but when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice came out, critics slammed the movie. It got a super low 27% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

It was a huge kick to the gut for Affleck. He put everything he had into the role, and while most people agreed he was one of the better parts of the movie, he took the poor reviews to heart.

He tried to bounce back from it. It was announced a few months later that he was going to star in and direct the next Batman movie, but that quickly fell apart. It was revealed he would be stepping down as the director, but would remain as Batman.

But now, even that won’t happen. Ben Affleck is done with the character. He confirmed all the rumors during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

“I tried to direct a version of [Batman], [I] worked with a really good screenwriter, but kinda just couldn’t come up with a version. Couldn’t crack it. I thought it was time for someone else to take a shot at it. And they’ve got some really good people.”

It was announced a week or two ago that filmmaker Matt Reeves will be taking the lead on ‘The Batman,’ which is set to be released in 2021.

Reeves told The Hollywood Reporter the following…

“It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale. It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional.”

It’s Official: Director Of ‘Cloverfield’ Will Direct The Upcoming Solo Batman Film, Ben Affleck Still Set To Star

Ever since Ben Affleck announced he would be stepping down as the director of the upcoming solo Batman film, we heard rumors that Matt Reeves would step in and take his place.

Well, Warner Bros. has now confirmed those rumors. Reeves, the director behind Cloverfield and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, will direct the next Batman movie.

They also confirmed that the title will be ‘The Batman,’ which is a bit surprising because it seemed like that was just the working title.

One interesting thing about the press release from Warner Bros. is that Affleck’s name is not mentioned. It makes you wonder if there was something to that “Affleck wants out” rumor we reported earlier this month.

But insiders say Affleck is still set to star. Nothing has changed yet. The relationship Affleck has with the studio appears to be damaged right now, but maybe things will settle down now that Reeves has officially joined the project.

Reeves revealed in his press release that he has been a fan of Batman since he was a child…

“I have loved the Batman story since I was a child. He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply. I am incredibly honored and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen.”

It’s Official: Woody Harrelson Will Play Villain In New ‘Planet of the Apes’ Movie!

The next film in the Planet of the Apes franchise won’t hit theaters until 2017, but it’s already making headlines with a surprising announcement. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Woody Harrelson has joined the project and will play a bad guy character named The Colonel.

Obviously, since the film is still a couple of years away from hitting theaters, plot details are being kept secret. The movie’s title, War of the Planet of the Apes, suggests there will be a major battle between the surviving humans and the apes. It looks like Woody’s Colonel character will be one of the main people leading the fight.

Director Matt Reeves will be returning for this new film, which should make fans extremely happy. Reeves did a wonderful job last year with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. It was a rare film that pleased both critics and fans.

Right now, Mr. Harrelson is currently filming LBJ, and you can watch him in a theater near you this November in the final Hunger Games movie. He’s a busy man.

We’ll continue to keep you posted on War of the Planet of the Apes. More casting news should be announced soon.

Movie Review: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

DAWN-OF-THE-PLANET-OF-THE-APES-Movie-Poster-Version1This is not the Planet of the Apes of your childhood.

four and a half stars

I’ll be honest, I’ve never been a huge fan of the Planet of the Apes movies. I just don’t get the premise. I mean, if the apes have evolved into talking and thinking, shouldn’t they have eventually just evolved into being humans? But I decided to set my skepticism aside and instead, focus on being entertained. After all, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is both a box office and critical success, so there has to be something there right?

Dawn picks up where the last movie left off, with Ceaser leading a growing band of genetically improved apes, to fight with the humans for supremacy of the planet. For the humans, a search for a cure for the virus has obliterated half the world. Humans are fighting to survive in primitive landscapes, while the apes struggle with things like class warfare and rebellious children.

This is not the Planet of the Apes of your childhood. In 1968, Charlton Hesston created the first version as a way to satire the problems in the world. For many, it became a cult hit simply for the ridiculous costumes, but people, aside from die hard movie buffs, rarely discussed the political implications of the movie.

This new version is possibly the smartest version yet. The CGI is fantastic and realistic, and the apes now have a full range of facial expressions that make them more human and sympathetic. In fact, I wound up rooting for the apes for the majority of the movie.

The dialog is realistic and heavy, and the actors who gave voice to the characters do a great job of verbally expressing their emotions. They created a great humanity for the apes that made them more sympathetic than they’ve ever been before. This movie was very intelligently written.

My big gripe is that the movie has no release from the tension. It’s heavy, it’s depressing and it’s realistic, but there’s no humor to break it up. Instead, it’s a very grim look at the world and manages to be extremely depressing and hard hitting. I could have done with some kind of hope.

Also, there was a major plot hole. There’s no indication that the apes have the knowledge to make weapons and after 10 years of warfare, they still seem to have an endless supply of both guns and bullets. Guns that never seem to jam, by the way. That didn’t really ring true. Jeez, on the Walking Dead after only a few months following the zombie apocalypse, they’re running low on guns and ammunition. How are the apes doing it after 10 years? Do they have a magic ammunition genie?

Plot holes and depression aside, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is intelligently written, acted and directed. The CGI is fantastic and realistic and the comparisons between the movie and our society are intelligent without being preachy. Currently performing at number 1 at the box office, this is a highly recommended watch. In fact, it might be the smartest movie you see all summer.

Scary Clip and last Trailer for ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes’

If you saw 2011’s ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ then you know things get real very quickly with these apes. Below is the latest trailer and a super crazy clip from the film.
In the clip Toby Kebbell is playing Koba, who was previously played by Christopher Gordon. Kebbell was tapped for the role in the new film because Kobas role will be much more in this film. In the clip you it looks like monkey business and then things get serious, FAST. All I can think watching it is….wait for it….wait for it…..

The trailer is most likely the last one that will be released in anticipation for the July 11th release. The Matt Reeves directed sequel will indeed be one of the most anticipated movies of the summer.
