Now that Matthew McConaughey has successfully completed his bizarre (and inspiring) commencement speech to the graduating class at the University of Houston, he’s able to put all his energy behind his acting career again.
And we know the 45-year-old actor has expressed interest in joining a superhero franchise from both DC and Marvel. Reports claim he has been “entertaining scripts” and trying to find the perfect role. And now a report from a website called Point of Geeks claims Marvel approached McConaughey to play Norman Osborn in the new Spider-Man reboot.
According to the site there has been “basic talks” between the studio and the actor. This means you shouldn’t go around telling all your friends that Matthew McConaughey will be in the new Spider-Man reboot. None of this has been confirmed.
And even if the reports are true, it still doesn’t mean the actor has the part. We are still in the early stages. This could be one of the many roles Marvel is considering for him. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. During a recent interview with Variety, McConaughey admitted that “nothing has been right for me yet.”
This could mean Marvel did offer him the role, but maybe he already turned it down?
The Spider-Man reboot is scheduled to hit theaters in 2017.
