8 Movie Stars Who Hated Their Own Films

bat

Most movie stars will promote and praise every movie they appear in, even if they know it’s actually a terrible movie. Anything to sell a few tickets, right?

But there are some honest celebrities out there. The actors you see down below weren’t afraid to admit they starred in some truly awful films.

No. 8 – David Cross: Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked

David Cross, the actor who once suffered from ‘Never Nude’ syndrome on Arrested Development, is not afraid to speak his mind. After bashing, ‘Alvin and the Chimpmunks: Chipwrecked’ on Conan, telling the audience not to go see it. He then later admitted on his website that he only took the role because he had been out of work for six months and needed the money.

No. 7 – Charlize Theron: Reindeer Games

It wasn’t all fun and games for the cast of Reindeer Games. The 2000 film, directed by the late John Frankenheimer, featured stars like Ben Affleck, Charlize Theron and Gary Sinise. But all that talent couldn’t save this clunker. “Reindeer Games was not a good movie.” Charlize Theron admitted.

No. 6 – John Cusack: Better Off Dead

Steve Holland’s ‘Better Off Dead’ had John Cusack wishing he was dead. He disliked the film so much that he walked out of the screening and told Holland the film was the “worst thing” he had ever seen. He also said he would never trust him as a director again, which must have been awkward considering they were filming ‘One Crazy Summer’ at the time.

No. 5 – Mark Wahlberg: The Happening

During a press conference for his film, ‘The Fighter,’ Mark Wahlberg talked about a conversation he had with Amy Adams during lunch. He admitted, ‘The Happening’ was a terrible movie, saying, “F*** it. It is what it is. F***ing trees, man. The plants. F*** it. You can’t blame me for not wanting to try to play a science teacher.”

No. 4 – George Clooney: Batman & Robin

Joel Schumacher’s 1997 ‘Batman & Robin’ disaster almost killed the Batman franchise, and now almost 20 years later, George Clooney is still apologizing for his role in the film. He played Batman in the movie, which currently has a 3.6 rating on IMDb. “Sorry about the nipples on the suit. Freeze, freeze, I apologize for that.” He said during the ‘Tomorrowland’  Comic-Con panel.

No. 3 – Jim Carrey: Kick-Ass 2

It’s usually all about the laughs with Jim Carrey, but after the sickening Sandy Hook shooting, the comedian admitted he could no longer support such violence in films. ”I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence.” He wrote on his Twitter account.

Knocked Up movie image Seth Rogen Katherine Heigl

No. 2 – Katherine Heigl: Knocked Up

Unlike most of the films on this list, ‘Knocked Up’ was a huge hit. Taking in a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It helped solidify the movie careers of Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl. However, Heigl didn’t like how the film portrayed women. “[It’s] a little sexist. It paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys.” She said after the film was released.

No. 1 – Sylvester Stallone: Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot

It’s clear all the stars on this list hated their movies, but Sylvester Stallone probably hated his the most. He claims ‘Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot’ could be used as a torture device. “If you ever want someone to confess to murder, just make him or her sit through that film. They will confess to anything after 15 minutes.” Stallone said.

Will Ferrell And Mark Wahlberg Teaming Up Again For New Comedy Titled ‘Daddy’s Home’

wil

The title of the film and the plot might sound familiar to you, and that’s because the rumors surrounding this film started leaking last year. Daddy’s Home was originally supposed to star Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell, but it now looks like Vince Vaughn is out.

Paramount Pictures announced yesterday that it will now be Mark Wahlberg teaming up with Will Ferrell to create the laughs in the Daddy vs. Daddy comedy. Director Sean Anders (Horrible Bosses 2) will direct the script, which has seen several writers working on it. Entourage writer Brian Burns will get the main credit for it.

So what is the film all about, and why should you be excited for it? Well, according to the Paramount press release, we will see Ferrell and Wahlberg going head to head in the comedy.

Ferrell will play a mild-mannered radio executive who is prepared to become the best step-dad to his wife’s two kids. However, things get complicated when their freeloading real father (Wahlberg) arrives, which forces the two men to fight for the affection of the children.

Sounds promising, right? Personally, I would have preferred having Vince Vaughn in this film as the straight man and Will Ferrell as the freeloading father. I think that would have worked out extremely well, but I am still excited to see where this film goes. The filming will begin later this year.

First Look: Redband Trailer for Mark Wahlberg’s ‘The Gambler’. Does a Bald John Goodman Steal the Show? (Video)

Balkd John Goodman

The dramatic pictures of a slimmed down Mark Wahlberg created quite the buzz on the internet, so we couldn’t wait for the trailer. There’s already talk surrounding the fact that Wahlberg might get an Oscar nomination for this role. The remake of the 1974 drama is written by William Monahan (The Departed) so there is potential.

Wahlberg who has really showed his acting chops in the last five years (Transformers aside) put a lot of work into this role. Wahlberg’s character is a literature professor with a bad gambling addiction. He says that convincing audience’s that he is a teacher was tougher then dropping the weight. During an interview he said,

“Forget losing the weight. Being believable as a teacher was one of my greatest challenges and most rewarding.”

Wahlberg just completed his high school diploma online last year at the age of 42. To prepare for this role he actually sat in on literary courses to better understand the classic literature references his character apparently uses throughout the film. The man is dedicated to his craft.

If Wahlberg doesn’t get an Oscar maybe there’s some room for John Goodman as Best Supporting Actor. A bald John Goodman gives a speech that is destined to become a classic, which is used as the back drop for the trailer…and the only reason I see that it’s redband. Goodman is dropping F-bombs Galore. I thought he deserved something as the “Wingman” in Denzel Washington’s ‘Flight’; maybe this movie will right that wrong.

Enjoy the Trailer. The movie is slated for official release on December 19th.

First Images From ‘The Gambler’ Show Mark Wahlberg’s Dramatic 60-Pound Weight Loss

gm

We are sure some of you have been hearing about Mark Wahlberg’s extreme weight loss for his upcoming film, The Gambler. He was forced to drop 60 pounds for the role, which some believe could land him an Oscar.

USA Today released three brand new images from the movie, and you can definitely see a difference, especially when you look back at how huge he was for the latest Transformers disaster.

wha

In the film, Mark will play a literary professor with an intense gambling problem, which leads to him getting into trouble with gangsters. It’s described as an updated retelling of the 1974 drama of the same name. In the photo down below, you can see Wahlberg standing next to Brie Larson. She plays Amy in the film, and is the main reason I am so excited for the movie.

But let’s get back to Mark’s weight loss before I start declaring my love for Brie Larson. Mr. Wahlberg told USA Today that the greatest challenge wasn’t losing the weight. It was transforming himself into a believable teacher.

“Forget losing the weight. Being believable as a teacher was one of my greatest challenges and most rewarding. It meant being able to have the comfort to really understand and say those words. Comments we’ve been getting from the test screenings include, ‘I never thought I would see Mark Wahlberg as a professor, but I believed it and went along for the ride.’ Hearing that hit on one of my big reasons for doing this part. It’s different and unexpected.”

Sounds like it’s going to be an interesting ride. The Gambler will be released Dec. 19. The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt and written by William Monahan.

Movie Review: Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)

Transformers Age of Extinction - Movie PosterIt was a high budget art film; shot by George Bush

2.5 Stars

The fourth sequel of the blockbuster series “Transformers” came out last Friday and quickly shot to the top of the charts, garnering nearly $100 million in its opening weekend. So it just hype, or is Transformers: Age of Extinction really that good?

We start off where we usually start off in a Transformers movie. The town has gone to crap and an evil new villain is planning on changing the course of history. Then, a cast of humans, lead by the ever foxy Marc Walberg teams up with Optimus Prime and the Autobots rise to save the world, yet again.

And it still takes them one hundred and sixty six minutes. Seriously, 2 and a half friggen hours of the same damn thing yet again. Because that’s what it really was. It was the same exact thing as the last three Transformer movers. The only thing changing is the cast.

Also, question. Was Michael Bay trying to make an art film? If not, what was with all the sun set shots? Transformers 4 kind of felt like it was a high budget art film; shot by George Bush. Over the top patriotism and American flags abound, because let’s not forget that America is the center of the universe…even when half the flipping movie is set in China.

I didn’t understand that at all. What did China have to do with anything? I’m serious, someone please explain to me why they went to China, because I totally missed that plot point.

Transformers Age of Extinction 3

I will say Mark Wahlberg was pretty great, but he’s always been great. I really haven’t seen that guy fail yet, even when he gets cast in a terrible movie. All the other players were entirely forgettable. I’m pretty sure they threw another hot girl in there, to play the spunky eye-candy heroine, but I really didn’t find her that memorable. She was no Megan Fox and I didn’t find her character that interesting. She did the whole ‘damsel in distress’ thing a few times and I really didn’t care if she made it or not.

Also, the Autobots, who were once buddy-buddy with the humans are now a threat and are being hunted by the government. Screw plot continuity, Michael Bay needs more conflict!

Of course, this did allow of the excellent addition of Kelsey Grammer as the CIA op in charge of hunting down the Autobots.

Transformers Age of Extinction 2

As if this pile of garbage wasn’t going to make a ton of money anyway, the makers decided to cram in as much product placement as humanly possibly. Everything from Bud Lite to Ford F150s make an appearance.

The movie really should have been called Transformers 4: Brought to You by Red Bull. I understand a little bit of product placement, but the placement I saw in this movie was astonishingly bad and obvious.

Apparently, Bay is threatening to produce two more of these atrocities. Yeah people, this is just the start of yet another trilogy. You know why he’s doing this, right? He needs to raise enough money to produce his own army of evil robots so he can take over the world.

Stop playing right into his hands!        Watch the Official Trailer Below:
