Watch The First Full Trailer For Lin-Manuel Miranda Directed Film ‘tick, tick…Boom!’

Lin-Manuel Miranda will probably be forever known for creating the hit musical ‘Hamilton‘ but he’s still out here trying to create another masterpiece, and for that, we give him all the credit in the world.

He’s basically conquered the musical theater world, and he’s been building his acting resume with his recent performance in Mary Poppins Returns, and now he’s ready to make his feature directorial debut with the upcoming film, tick, tick…Boom!

The movie stars Andrew Garfield as ‘Rent‘ creator Jonathan Larson.

Tick, Tick…Boom is an adaptation of the autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson, who revolutionized theater as the creator of Rent. The film follows Jon (Academy Award nominee and Tony Award winner Andrew Garfield), a young theater composer who’s waiting tables at a New York City diner in 1990 while writing what he hopes will be the next great American musical. Days before he’s due to showcase his work in a make-or-break performance, Jon is feeling the pressure from everywhere: from his girlfriend Susan, who dreams of an artistic life beyond New York City; from his friend Michael, who has moved on from his dream to a life of financial security; amidst an artistic community being ravaged by the AIDS epidemic. With the clock ticking, Jon is at a crossroads and faces the question everyone must reckon with: What are we meant to do with the time we have?

In addition to Garfield, this movie co-stars Alexandria Shipp, Robin de Jesus, Bradley Whitford and Joshua Henry.

This flick was produced by Imagine Entertainment, the production company ran by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer.

It’s scheduled to hit theaters on November 12, followed by a release on Netflix on November 19. Check out the trailer below…

Watch Andrew Garfield In First Teaser Trailer For Lin-Manuel Miranda Film ‘Tick, Tick…BOOM!’

Lin-Manuel Miranda will forever be known for creating ‘Hamilton‘ but that doesn’t mean he’s not gonna try to make something just as great.

He’s the director behind the upcoming musical drama film, tick, tick…BOOM!

The project is a film adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s autobiographical musical of the same name.

Larson performed the musical as a solo work in 1990, before playwright David Auburn revamped it into a 2001 Off-Broadway musical following Larson’s tragic death. ‘Rent’ opened on Broadway in the meantime, making the late Larson a musical theater phenomenon.

Garfield will play Jonathan in the film. Alexandra Shipp plays his girlfriend, and Robin de Jesus co-stars as his friend, Michael. Vanessa Hudgens and Bradley Whitford also star.

Earlier this year, Garfield talked about what it was like working with Miranda…

You know Lin, he’s like a crazy mixture of the most precocious eight year-old genius student of life that won’t stop talking and has a reference to everything, while simultaneously being one of the greatest creative geniuses of our time. It’s this weird combination of having that eight year-old running around your ankles, but that eight year-old has also written ‘Hamilton.’

I think that’s a compliment? Anyway, you can check out the teaser trailer for the film below. It’s set to hit select theaters and Netflix this fall.

First Look At Lin Manuel Miranda On The Set Of Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns (PHOTOS)

Back in 1964, Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews created a masterpiece with Mary Poppins. It’s a classic, and you know what Hollywood must do with classics, right? Ruin them by remaking them for a new generation.

Obviously there have been exceptions. Most recently with The Jungle Book, so it is possible to bring a classic film back to life.

And we think Disney is on the right track with Mary Poppins Returns. They have the talented Emily Blunt in the leading role, and they also convinced Lin-Manuel Miranda to join the cast. If, for some reason, you don’t know who Miranda is, just put in “Hamilton” on Spotify and say goodbye to your life.

Photos have been released on Twitter, and they’re giving us our first real look at Miranda in costume on the set of the film.

We’re not sure how big his role in the movie will be, but even if he doesn’t spend a lot of time in front of the camera, we know his genius will spread behind-the-scenes.

We have to imagine he’s helping Disney create a fresh sound for this sequel. That’s probably the main reason they invited him to join the movie.

It’s set to be released Dec 25, 2018. Still have almost two years to wait. We apologize for teasing you.

Say What? Lin-Manuel Miranda Is Working On A Secret Disney Movie With ‘Zootopia’ Co-Director

After leaving his Broadway hit Hamilton in July, Lin-Manuel Miranda has been trying to keep up with all the fame and praise. He’s one of the hottest names in Hollywood and everyone wants to work with him, especially a little studio called Disney.

He’s set to begin filming the sequel Mary Poppins Returns in London later this year. The sequel is currently scheduled for a 2018 release. In addition to the starring role, Miranda also wrote several songs for the upcoming animated feature Moana, so Disney is making sure we have plenty of Miranda in our lives.

In a recent interview with Vulture, the 36-year-old actor/composer revealed he’s working on his own animated feature with Zootopia’s co-director Byron Howard.

“That’s the fun thing about working with someone and having it go well — you go, ‘Okay, what else can we do?’ Lasseter took me aside and said, ‘I have an idea: Here’s Byron, and you guys should start talking.’ We literally haven’t gotten in the room yet, but we’re plotting.”

So yeah, it’s still in the early stages, but it’s something to get excited about. He wasn’t able to offer any details, but we’re sure we will be hearing more about it real soon.

By the way, Disney is on a ridiculous hot streak right now. Every single thing they put out turns to box office gold. Their latest film Moana will be released in just a little over a week, and if the early reviews from critics are correct, it’s going to perform extremely well.
