Check Out Kristen Wiig In First Trailer For ‘Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar’

Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo were nominated for an Oscar for their work on ‘Bridesmaids’ and now they’re teaming up again.

They worked together to write the upcoming comedy film ‘Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar’ and they also star in the movie. So yeah, they wrote these roles specifically for each other.

The movie was originally supposed to be released inside theaters during the summer of 2020, but due to the pandemic, that didn’t happen.

Now, the studio plans to release it via premium video-on-demand platforms on February 12.

Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar follows Wiig and Mumolo as lifelong best friends, who embark on the adventure of a lifetime when they decide to leave their small Midwestern town for the first time ever to vacation to Florida. Cue the laughter, tears… and an evil villain who plots to kill everyone in town.

The first trailer was released this week, so you can check that out below.

It’s pretty trippy. I’m not sure how to feel about this. Do I want to watch it?

Director Patty Jenkins Confirms That Kristen Wiig Will Join ‘Wonder Woman 2’ As New Villain

Kristen Wiig is moving on up in Hollywood. She’s traveled from Saturday Night Live sketches, to blockbuster comedies, to indie dramas, to comic book blockbuster.

Wonder Woman‘ director Patty Jenkins confirmed on Friday that Wiig will be joining ‘Wonder Woman 2‘ as a new villain called Cheetah. She posted the exciting information to her Twitter account…

So who is this Cheetah character? Well, I have no idea, ’cause I know nothing about the comic book universe, but I’ll share this snippet from Entertainment Weekly

“Cheetah is one of Diana’s most famous adversaries. If the name didn’t tip you off, she assumes a feline appearance, typically with cheetah-esque spots, tail, and ferocious claws to match. She also maintains feline agility and strength. Unlike Catwoman, Cheetah is an actual cat woman. She has appeared across DC’s comic books, animated TV series, and animated movies.”

Okay then. Sounds interesting, I suppose. This Wonder Woman sequel will hit theaters November 1, 2019, and you can bet the studio is hoping it’ll pull another $800 million worldwide.

Watch Matt Damon And Jason Sudeikis Star In The Full Trailer For ‘Downsizing’

Are you ready to get weird? ‘Cause we’re about to get weird. The first full trailer for ‘Downsizing‘ was released this week, and we don’t know what to think. Are we intrigued by it? Or are we just confused and slightly bored?

Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig star in the film, which premiered to mostly positive reviews at last month’s Venice Film Festival. Basically, thanks to climate change and overpopulation, resources around the world are starting to dwindle. The solution to this? Scientists shrinking people down to five inches tall.

The process is irreversible, but the good news is you get to live like kings and queens because everything is cheaper when you’re super small. A $52,000 nest egg turns into $12.5 million once you shrink.

In addition to Damon and Wiig, you’ll also find Jason Sudeikis, Hong Chau and Christoph Waltz. It’s scheduled to hit theaters December 22, 2017. Check out the trailer below…

It Is Finally Here, Watch The First Trailer For The New ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot!

ghoo

After months of teasing, the team behind the new Ghostbusters film has finally decided to give us our first real taste of the all-female reboot of the ’80s classic. The trailer just continues to display the incredible amount of fierceness we saw in the posters and teaser images leading up to this moment.

The trailer opens up with a lone piano playing, which honestly makes you feel a little nervous. I started looking over my shoulder during the first few seconds, but then Kristen Wiig gets slimed and that’s when the laughs start coming in.

That stuff went everywhere, by the way. In every crack. Very hard to wash off.” Wiig tells a shocked Melissa McCarthy, who looks absolutely amazing in this trailer.

And while Melissa, Kristen and Kate McKinnon get most of the laughs early on in the trailer, Leslie Jones comes on strong at the end. This trailer does a nice job of showing everyone’s talent.

Check out the madness below. The film is scheduled to hit theaters July 15. Don’t let the haters stop you from enjoying this one. It looks like a lot of fun.

Kristen Wiig Admits Negative Reaction Toward All-Female ‘Ghostbusters’ Bummed Her Out

Now that Kristen Wiig has finished filming the all-female Ghostbusters reboot, she’s ready to talk about the backlash against the upcoming film. As some of you may remember, when Paul Feig confirmed he was directing this movie, thousands of online trolls came out to say, “WHAT? WOMEN CAN’T FIGHT GHOSTS!”

People truly thought that putting women in the lead roles would ruin the classic film. They weren’t worried about the script, the director, or anything else that actually matters when it comes to making a movie. They just didn’t want those ladies leaving their stations inside the kitchen.

This obviously upset Kristen Wiig, who will star in the movie. During an interview with the LA Times, the actress talked about how bummed out she was…

“The fact there was so much controversy because we were women was surprising to me. Some people said some really not nice things about the fact that there were women. It didn’t make me mad, it just really bummed me out. We’re really honoring those movies.”

Hopefully that quote will make those haters feel bad, especially since she pulled the whole, “I’m not mad…I’m just disappointed.” card.

Paul Feig wasn’t as nice. Back in March, he told Variety that internet bullies wrote “some of the most vile, misogynistic s— I’ve ever seen in my life,” adding that most of the time it wasn’t even some silly teenager.

“But almost constantly it’s someone who’s bio says ‘Proud father of two!’ And has some high-end job. You’re raising children and yet you’re bashing me about putting women in my movie?”

You can watch Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy in action when the reboot hits theaters July 22, 2016.

Movie Review: The Martian (2015) – A Sharp, Clever Movie That Is Free From Sappy Sentimentality

hero_The-Martian-2015

The Martian, featuring Matt Damon, is crushing it at the box offices and pleasing critics alike. So what is it about this space based flick that has so many people rushing to the theaters, while calling it Scot Ridley’s best movie since Blackhawk Down? Let’s find out.

The premise is a bit of Cast Away, without the crippling depression and soccer ball friends. Matt Damon plays Matt Watney, an astronaut who went on a mission to Mars, only to get left behind after his crew gives him up for dead following a storm. The movie is surprisingly simple, with Watney trying to find a way to get home, while the people back at NASA try to get him back. There’s also a lot of film time that features the crew that left him behind. Despite three different storylines and scenes going on, they manage to match it all together pretty seamlessly.

Matt Damon is pretty impressive in this movie, playing the affable and sarcastic Watney with cocky vulnerability. He plays his part with enough humor to keep this from turning into a heart pounding Gravity copy, and instead, making it a bit lighter and fun.

What I loved about this movie was the complete absence of clichés. The only thing working against Matt was time. There are no evil politicians plotting against him, no crazy space aliens or weirdly nefarious rivals bent on his demise. Instead it’s a space movie that focuses on the science of space, rather than the fantastic.

That allowed Matt’s character to create his own urgency, rather than driving it with a cliché like a wife pining away for him at home, or a precocious kid begging the president of NASA to save his daddy. Instead they made Matt likeable enough in his own right to make people root for him.

Both Jessica Chastain and Jeff Daniels play leaders in their own right, with Chastain running the return crew and Daniel’s running the home base in NASA. Both leaders are compassionate and competent, devoutly devoted to bringing Mark home, even as time works against them.

cdn.indiewire.com 10OCT20151

The movie is contained entirely within NASA. There’s no clichéd outside pressure or unnecessary characters. Instead, it plays out much in the same way I’d imagine a real space disaster would play out. The movie allows us to focus on that, without dragging us away into too many superfluous side stories.

For such a serious premise, the movie is surprisingly funny, with more than a few laugh out loud moments. The laughs come from a genuine place and fit in seamlessly, thanks to the excellent writing and surprisingly bare bones premise. It’s a sharp, clever movie that is free from sappy sentimentality.

It’s not just worth the watch. This is a must watch. For anyone who has ever doubted Matt Damon’s acting talent, this movie will make you look at him in a new way. This is a clever, refreshing intelligent movie that doesn’t try to be to high minded. It simply works that way because it was intelligently written.

Matt Damon Fights For His Life On Mars In First Trailer For ‘The Martian’

Legendary director Ridley Scott appears to have another hit with the upcoming science-fiction film, The Martian. Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) is the writer behind the project, which stars an impressive list of actors, including Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara and Jeff Daniels.

The Martian is based on the best-selling novel by Andy Weir, and those who have read the book describe it as Apollo 13 meets Cast Away. That probably got your attention, right?

The first trailer for the movie shows Matt Damon as NASA astronaut Mark Watney, a botanist and mechanical engineer, who gets stranded on Mars after his crew is forced to leave the planet due to a dust storm with dangerously high winds.

Damon’s character notes in the trailer that it would take “four years for another manned mission to reach me, so in the face of overwhelming odds I’m left with only one option: I’m gonna have to science the sh-t out of this.”

You can check out the official synopsis and trailer below. The film hits theaters October 2, 2015. You will not want to miss this one.

“During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and is left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible rescue mission.”

The “Secret” Will Ferrell-Kristen Wiig Lifetime Movie Is Actually Happening? Check Out The Hilarious Billboard

Are you ready for some potentially wonderful news? It looks like the Will Ferrell/Kristen Wiig Lifetime movie will actually air on the network later this month. On April 1, we heard reports that the two stars had just filmed a satirical Lifetime movie called A Deadly Adoption. It was scheduled to be released this summer on the Lifetime channel.

One day later, Ferrell released a statement saying he wanted to keep the project a secret until it aired. He also said he was so disappointed about the leak that he was thinking about removing the film completely. This obviously made some people wonder if this was just some strange April Fools’ Day joke, but now two months later it looks like this movie is an actual thing.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Rebecca Ford posted this photo to her Twitter account yesterday. As you can see, that is a legit poster, with an incredible tagline, “The birth of a plan gone wrong.”

lif

The Hollywood Reporter released some more information about the film…

“The duo stars in the dramatic thriller as a successful couple who house and care for a pregnant woman (played by 90210 alum Jessica Lowndes) in the hopes of adopting her unborn child — then things quickly go awry. The movie is described as a campy, fun, contemporary wink at the genre, and it comes as Lifetime is poised to mark the 25th anniversary of its TV movie business.”

We should note there is still something strange about this project. The poster says “Sunday June 20,” but that doesn’t make any sense because June 20 is a Saturday.

We’re still not convinced this is actually happening. What do you think? And are you planning on watching it?

6 Hilariously Awkward Interviews With Your Favorite Movie Stars (VIDEO)

YouTube isn’t just full of cats and unnecessary jump cuts. You can find pretty much anything on the site, including the awkward interviews you see below. This list could have easily been 50 videos long, but I didn’t want to hit you with everything at once.

Did you know you can die from too much awesomeness? Seriously. It’s happened before. You have to ease into sh-t like this.

Watch the six videos below, and then please step away from your computer. Take a walk, drink some water, and finish things off with a nap.

No. 6 – Bruce Willis Has Been Doing This For Too Long

Bruce is known for acting like a dick during interviews. This is probably one of his worst. I also remember a radio interview he did that was horribly awkward. Apparently, someone from the radio station was taking photos of him (for their website) during the interview, and Mr. Willis didn’t appreciate it. He stopped the interview and berated the poor lady.

The woman, “Psycho” Shanon, was actually diagnosed with a non-malignant brain tumor a few years ago, and can you guess what she named her tumor? Bruce Willis.

No. 5 – Zach Galifianakis Meets Gordon Keith

Have you watched Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis? Sure you have. It’s hilarious, and in this interview, Zach meets radio host Gordon Keith, who started doing awkward interviews before it was the cool thing to do.

The interview he did with Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard is one of my favorites. Check it out by clicking this link.

No. 4 – Jesse Eisenberg Tries To Flirt?

I’m still not sure about this interview. Was he flirting with the extremely beautiful reporter? Was he simply being an asshole? Was it all an act? I think the most likely answer is that he was trying to flirt with her.

In an interview a month after the video you see above went viral, Jesse explained that he had no idea the video went viral until somebody called and told him.

“I wasn’t, until somebody called me and told me. But people write mean things about people on the internet even if they’re not in movies… I just don’t ever read stuff about myself, otherwise you’ll never leave the house.”

No. 3 – Sean Connery Enjoys Slapping Women

20 years later and Sean Connery still thinks slapping women is acceptable. At least he’s consistent?

No. 2 – Kristen Wiig And Bill Hader’s Laugh

You could insert Bill Hader’s laugh into anything, and it would automatically make that thing funny. Funerals, that sad scene in Air Bud, nursing homes, etc.

Bill’s laugh is the best medicine.

No. 1 – The Master

We all remember this, right? You can’t forget it. David Letterman had several awkward moments as the host of The Late Show, but this one might be the most memorable. Of course, Letterman handled it like a pro. Late night television won’t be the same without him.

All-Female Cast Revealed For The ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot, Find Out Which Funny Ladies Made The Cut!

cas

We have been talking about this all-female ‘Ghostbusters‘ reboot for months now. Trying to figure out who Paul Feig would choose to bring the Ghostbusters franchise back to life. Well, we are happy to report that the speculation has ended.

Director Paul Feig surprised us all yesterday when he revealed the huge casting news on his Twitter account. We now know that Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon will star in the film.

We all know the first two names. Wiig and McCarthy’s names were attached to this project from the very start, but the casting of Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones did surprise some people. Kate McKinnon made news a few weeks ago for her brilliant Justin Bieber impression on SNL.

And Leslie Jones, who also stars on SNL, grabbed everyone’s attention in Chris Rock’s recent film Top Five.

Deadline is reporting that all the funny ladies listed above are still in negotiations, so there is still a chance we could see a last minute change; however, we find that highly unlikely. None of these ladies are going to ruin their chances of starring in a freaking Ghostbusters film! I’d star in the film for a chewed-up piece of gum and a package of M&M’s.

After announcing the casting news, Feig also announced the scheduled release date for the film.
