Johnny Depp Has An Important Message For You…CANCEL CULTURE WILL DESTROY YOU!

The world has many things to worry about, including climate change, racism, evil dictators, income inequality, and the list goes on and on.

But for some people, cancel culture is the thing they’re worried about most. Johnny Depp attended a press conference preceding his Donostia Awards reception at the San Sebastian Film Festival, and during the press conference, one reporter praised the actor for his thoughts on cancel culture.

This sparked a bit of a rant from Depp…

It can be seen as an event in history that lasted for however long it lasted, this cancel culture, this instant rush to judgement based on what essentially amounts to polluted air. It’s so far out of hand now that I can promise you that no one is safe. Not one of you. No one out that door. No one is safe. It takes one sentence and there’s no more ground, the carpet has been pulled. It’s not just me that this has happened to, it’s happened to a lot of people. This type of thing has happened to women, men.

This dude is talking about cancel culture as if it’s COVID-19. “It’s happening to women, men…DOG…YEAH DOGS ARE GETTING CANCELLED! GOOGLE IT!”

I don’t mean to make fun. He does have a point. We do rush to judge, especially online. We refuse to wait until all the facts come out because if we wait, then no one will care about your super hilarious tweet anymore. It’ll be old news. The internet begs us to make quick judgements.

It’s something that needs to be changed, but at the same time, I think Depp should pull back on this a bit.

His relationship with Amber Heard was not as one-sided as he wants everyone to believe. Yes, she hit him, but he was also an angry drunk who hit her as well. Whether it was in self defense or not, who knows, but the two of them were toxic as hell. No one can come out of that relationship looking good.

Johnny Depp Is Exiting The ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Franchise After Losing Libel Case Involving Amber Heard

Some bad news for Johnny Depp this week. The controversial actor lost his libel case against the publisher of Britain’s The Sun newspaper. As some of you may know, the publication made accusations that Depp abused his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Depp claimed those allegations were false, but after a lengthy (and often messy) court battle, the judge working the case found the claims “substantially true.”

It’s a huge blow to Depp, who was hoping he could clear his name by winning this case. Instead, the judge ruled against him and basically said he did indeed abuse Heard on some level.

In light of this ruling, Depp revealed that Warner Bros. has asked him to resign from the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

I would like to make the following short statement. Firstly, I’d like to thank everybody who has gifted me with their support and loyalty. I have been humbled and moved by your many messages of love and concern, particularly over the last few days.

Secondly, I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and I have respected and agreed to that request. Finally, I wish to say this. The surreal judgement of the court in the U.K. will not change my fight to tell the truth and I confirm that I plan to appeal. My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false. My life and career will not be defined by this moment in time.

The studio had been trying to defend keeping Depp in the franchise, but after this ruling, it looks like they feel like the defense just isn’t there.

This could be the end of movie star Depp. He may have trouble landing big roles in Hollywood after this.

Disney Executive Confirms ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Reboot, But Will Johnny Depp Be In It?

We all know Johnny Depp needs money. The dude somehow spent most of his fortune made from the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise, so when he heard rumors of a reboot, he probably got super excited.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like he’ll be involved in this reboot, according to a Disney executive named Sean Bailey.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bailey confirmed Disney is rebooting the franchise and they’re confident they don’t need Depp to bring it back to life. Deadpool’s Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are working on the script.

“We want to bring in a new energy and vitality. I love the [Pirates] movies, but part of the reason Paul and Rhett are so interesting is that we want to give it a kick in the pants. And that’s what I’ve tasked them with.”

Sounds like a good plan to me. Reese and Wernick are super talented, so Disney’s decision to hire them to build this reboot is a smart move.

As for Depp? Well, maybe Tim Burton has a project in mind.

The First Trailer For ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald’ Has Been Released!

Are you a Harry Potter addict? Are you still trying to taste that Potter high? Well, we got some good news for you. The first trailer for ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald‘ has arrived. It might not be the ninth Potter film you all want, but it is a spinoff, so the taste is still there.

The first Harry Potter prequel, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, hit theaters back in 2016 and received mostly positive reviews from critics. It scored a respectable 74% on Rotten Tomatoes and brought home over $800 million worldwide, which means they had to make another one.

This second prequel will pick up after the events of the first. Eddie Redmayne has returned as the magical zoologist Newt Scamander. Johnny Depp also stars in the film as the titular character, and as you can imagine, people are not happy about that. The actor has been accused of verbally and physically abusing his ex-wife Amber Heard.

But J.K. Rowling and director David Yates see nothing wrong with their casting decision. You can read all about their defense by clicking on this link, and you can check out the trailer below.

It’s set to hit theaters November 16, 2018.

J.K. Rowling Defends Decision To Cast Johnny Depp In ‘Fantastic Beasts’ After Amber Heard’s Abuse Allegations

While several actors, producers, and agents continue to fall in this sexual harassment cleanse, Johnny Depp continues to thrive. As some of you may remember, the 54-year-old actor was accused by his ex-wife Amber Heard of physical abuse. She was granted a temporary domestic violence restraining order against the actor.

You also had the strange, slightly disturbing video showing an intoxicated Depp yelling at Heard and then apparently writing on their bathroom mirror with his own blood. You can click on this link to relive that odd experience.

A lot of fans were upset with the decision to cast Depp as Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts film, but J.K. Rowling is now speaking out about the decision, and she still stands by it

“When Johnny Depp was cast as Grindelwald, I thought he’d be wonderful in the role. However, around the time of filming his cameo in the first movie, stories had appeared in the press that deeply concerned me and everyone most closely involved in the franchise. Based on our understanding of the circumstances, the filmmakers and I are not only comfortable sticking with our original casting, but genuinely happy to have Johnny playing a major character in the movies.

I’ve loved writing the first two screenplays and I can’t wait for fans to see The Crimes of Grindelwald. I accept that there will be those who are not satisfied with our choice of actor in the title role. However, conscience isn’t governable by committee. Within the fictional world and outside it, we all have to do what we believe to be the right thing.”

Hm…so it sounds like they did a mini investigation and determined Depp didn’t physically harm Heard? It seems hard to believe, considering the dude was throwing wine glasses and using his own blood as ink, but what do I know?

It’s worth noting that Heard and Depp released a joint statement to Us Weekly after settling their divorce:

“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity.”

Johnny Depp Tries To Win Back His Fans By Surprising Disneyland Park-Goers On The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Ride (VIDEO)

Johnny Depp. What do you think when you hear his name? Do you think about his acting career? How great he was in ‘What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?‘ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘?

Or do you think, “Oh he’s that a**hole who abused Amber Heard“?

It shouldn’t be a difficult question to answer, but for some it is for millions of people. And the 53-year-old actor is trying to make it even harder for people by pretending to be a lovable person.

He surprised Disneyland park-goers Wednesday evening when he dressed up as Captain Jack Sparrow during the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

Instead of the typical animatronic Captain Jack, the surprised guests got a taste of the real thing. Depp carried a sword while reciting lines from the popular film franchise.

You can check out video captured by the lucky visitors below. By the way, the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie is in theaters now.

And Hollywood’s Most Overpaid Actor For 2015 Is…

dep

Forbes has just released their annual “10 most overpaid actors” list. It’s probably the most confusing list to be on for actors in Hollywood. On the one hand, the actors on this list are making ridiculous amounts of money, but on the other hand, their movies are obviously not performing well at the box office.

For the past two years, the cold pizza version of Adam Sandler has been named Hollywood’s Most Overpaid Actor; however, this year he was deemed ineligible because of his deal with Netflix.

“Pixels was released after our June 2015 cut-off, while his series of four Netflix films don’t meet the wide cinematic release criteria.”

That was bad news for Johnny Depp. He grabbed the Most Overpaid Actor title this year, which seems a little misleading because he did produce one of the best performances this year in Black Mass. The film could have been better, but most everyone agrees Depp’s performance was brilliant.

The good news is that he shouldn’t stay at the top of this list for too long. Forbes points out in their report that he has two huge sequels coming up…

“He has two promising sequels on his slate with Alice Through The Looking Glass (2016) and another Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017). Both films should boost his ratios and possibly get him off the list.”

You can click this link to find out who else made the top 10 list. You might be surprised by this year’s runner-up.

The 2016 Golden Globes List Of Nominations, Which Films Are Up For Best Picture?

cree

We have officially entered awards season. While most of you are thinking about hot chocolate and Christmas gifts, we’re thinking about Golden Globes and shocking snubs.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association revealed its 2016 Golden Globe Awards nominees Thursday morning, and surprisingly there doesn’t appear to be any huge snubs, at least not on the film side of things. The biggest snub might be Johnny Depp and his film Black Mass not receiving any nominations. Most critics agree it was Depp’s best performance in years.

One nice surprise you will find in the list below is Sylvester Stallone’s name in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role category. We told you he deserved some awards for his performance in Creed, and it looks like he might get some. Sadly, that was the only nomination for the film.

The 2016 Golden Globes should be interesting for several reasons, but one of the main reasons is the return of Ricky Gervais. He will host the show for a third time on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016. You can always count on Ricky to bring some inappropriate jokes to the party.

Movie Review: Black Mass (2015) – Depp Returns To His Element of Playing Complex Characters.

black-mass1-570x356 - 25SEP2015

If you’re as sick of watching Johnny Depp play eccentric, weirdly dressed characters, or dudes in guyliner as I am, then Black Mass will be a welcome respite for you. This movie sees Depp go back to his roots, as one of the best method actors around.

The premise is based on the real life drama that saw one of the biggest criminals in history, Whitey Bulger, become an FBI informant. It focuses on FBI Special Agent (Joel Edgerton), a man who actually knew and admired Bulger when he was growing up in South Boston. Of course, Connelly went the other way with his career and eventually tried to turn Bulger (Johnny Depp) into a FBI informant. Of course, this informant deal is a bit well…unethical. In this case, Bulger won’t inform on any of his Irish mob buddies. Instead, he’ll be ratting on the Patriarca crime family. It isn’t long before Bulger uses the opportunity to get the FBI to take out the competition for him, with bloody and catastrophic results.

The acting in this was extremely well done. Depp is barely recognizable as the balding, paunchy Bulger and Edgerton stand out as an agent whose own moral compass becomes increasingly skewed. Ironically, Edgerton actually reminded me a bit of when Depp played Donnie Brasco.

Black Mass - 25SEP2015

I liked that they stuck to accuracy in the Whitey Bulger story. Much of what was presented is widely believed to actually have happened, though there are a few disputes from some of the key players, for obvious reasons. They had to mess with the timeline a bit to make it work, but in reality, I liked that they tried to go with the story and not embellish a story that was pretty good on its face.

On the flip, I think they tried a bit too hard to make Bulger likeable. In one scene, that I highly doubt ever happen, Bulger stops to help some old lady with her groceries, because deep down, he’s just a gentlemanly south Boston boy. Oh, please…I think enough court records and information exists to make it pretty darn believable that if Bulger did ever help a woman with her groceries, it was for the purpose of stealing them. Why does every gangster movie need to focus on the goal of turning said gangster into Robin Hood?

20150430_BlackMass_trailer - 25SEP2015

The sad fact is, sometimes, people are just sociopathic monsters. Bulger falls far more on that side than he does of a saintly robin hood. I can accept the fact that he wasn’t a saint. I don’t need to sympathize with him to understand him. In fact, I don’t want to. I have no desire to join any kind of criminal fraternity. If I need moral ambiguity, I’ll get it from Connolly, the truly sympathetic character in this film.

But that slim complaint aside, I will say this is an enjoyable, well written piece that returned Depp to his element of playing complex characters. I had my doubts about him playing Whitey, but he pulled it off. That alone makes this movie worth the watch.

WE GIVE IT: 4.5 STARS!

Your First Look At Johnny Depp In The New ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ (PHOTO)

Fans of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise still have two years to wait before the fifth installment hits theaters, but producer Jerry Bruckheimer decided it’s never too early to start teasing.

The Pirates producer went on his Twitter account to reveal the first image from the film, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

As you can see in the photo above, it looks like Captain Jack Sparrow is in trouble again. It looks like some enemy has detained him, which seems to be a common problem for the Captain.

The fourth film in the franchise (On Stranger Tides) was released back in 2011. And while the movie wasn’t exactly a hit with the critics, it certainly was with the loyal fans of the franchise. It made over $1 billion at the global box office, and that’s the reason why this fifth film is being made.

We are sure it will make a lot of money. As we mentioned above, the film won’t be released until 2017. The fourth film was released in 2011, which means there will be a six-year gap between the two movies. That’s the longest gap in the franchise.

Will the long wait get fans excited about the movie? Or will they find some other franchise to keep them warm at night? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales hits theaters July 7, 2017.
