John Travolta is putting all his chips on the table for the upcoming film ‘Moose,’ which is being directed by Fred Durst.
The movie is about a fan who becomes obsessed with an action movie star and eventually tries to ruin the celebrity’s life. It’s reported that this story is based on Durst’s life and his own experience with a stalkerish fan.
If you can’t tell from the photo, Travlota plays the crazed stalker in the film, and it looks like he’s going to nail the performance. I mean, I know it’s impossible to know that just from a photo, but LOOK AT HIM! He looks creepy as hell.
I know I probably shouldn’t be excited for this movie, but I am and I can’t wait to watch it.
In addition to Travolta, Moose also stars Devon Sawa and James Paxton. Not sure when this film is expected to be released, but we will keep you posted.
You might know Fred Durst as the front man of the rock band Limp Bizkit, but the 47-year-old musician wants you to know him for something else. He wants to be a filmmaker. Well, I guess technically he IS a filmmaker. He directed a film titled ‘The Longshots‘ in 2008 and ‘The Education of Charlie Banks‘ in 2007, which starred Jesse Eisenberg.
And now for his third film, he’ll have John Travolta as his lead actor. ‘Moose‘ is the current title of this planned project, which will feature Travolta playing an insane stalker who becomes obsessed with his favorite celebrity action hero and sets out to destroy his life.
Moose was co-written by Durst, and it’s apparently based on his personal experiences dealing with a stalker several years ago. It’ll be shooting in Alabama and its backed by Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi’s AMBI Media Group.
The group sent out the statement you see below…
“There certainly is no shortage of amazing Fred Durst stories to tell, but this one in particular is unequivocally cinematic in how it plays out. John’s range as an actor will once again be shown off as he steps into a character that Fred is all too familiar with – making this pairing so exciting.”
Travolta is a great actor, and Durst’s two other feature films weren’t exactly terrible, so I can’t write this film off yet. The potential is there for this to be a decent movie.
No release date has been announced. We’ll keep you posted.
It was reported this week that John Travolta’s film ‘Gotti‘ was dropped by Lionsgate just 10 days before its scheduled release on December 15. Entertainment Weekly reported that the studio sold the movie back to its production company. There was no reason given for the shocking move.
For those who don’t know, Gotti was directed by Entourage actor Kevin Connolly and it stars Travolta and his real-life wife Kelly Preston.
After the Lionsgate news was announced, Travolta fired back against the media, claiming they didn’t have the full story. He claims he was underwhelmed by the studio’s tiny release plan, so he searched for a financier to buy Lionsgate out of the equation. He allegedly found one in Edward Walson, a Broadway producer.
“Lionsgate was planning on a minimal release and I did an investigation into people who might have the interest and financial wherewithal to better release it. Ed is a fan of mine and of the Gotti story, and really wanted to see the movie. I invited his group, they saw it and bought it. That is the simple explanation for this. It wasn’t dropped. It wasn’t easy to get Lionsgate to give it up. They said no, twice, and I literally begged them to reconsider and they finally and generously let it go. We signed this deal about three weeks ago, to purchase back the film from Lionsgate.”
Hmmm. I know he claims Lionsgate didn’t want to give it up, but one has to wonder if the film is truly that great, why would they even consider giving it up? Something doesn’t seem right.
According to the reports, Travolta and Walson are close to landing a deal with a “significant distributor.” They also plan to submit to Cannes as an official submission.
