Watch John Cena In The Red Band Trailer For Raunchy Comedy ‘Vacation Friends’

John Cena started as a professional wrestler, but now he’s a legit comedy actor. There have been a handful of wrestlers who have made the transition to film, but most have went into the action genre. I’d say Cena is the first real comedic actor to come from the ring.

You can catch him in the upcoming wedding comedy, Vacation Friends, alongside Lil Rel Howery, Meredith Hagner and Yvonne Orji.

The straight-laced couple Marcus (Howery) and Emily (Orji) befriend the wild, thrill-seeking partiers Ron (Cena) and Kyla (Hanger) at a resort in Mexico, and the results lead to a raw and raunchy comedy. Living in the moment, the level-headed couple lets loose and takes advantage of a week of uninhibited fun and debauchery with their new ‘vacation friends,’ but months later the couple shows up uninvited at their wedding, creating chaos in their wake and proving that what happens on vacation, doesn’t always stay on vacation.

Howery plays a great straight man, so it’ll be fun to see him reacting to Cena’s craziness. It’s been a long road to production for this story, which was originally bought by 20th Century Fox in 2014. Back then, Ice Cube and Chris Pratt were set to star.

The comedy is set to drop on Hulu on August 27, 2021.

Amazon Studios Picks Up John Cena/Idris Elba Action Film ‘Heads Of State’

Well, it’s time for celebration for screenwriter Harrison Query. He and his author brother Matthew have blown up this past year. Back in June, they landed a seven-figure deal for the project My Wife and I Bought A Ranch.

Netflix made the deal after Matthew wrote a short story on Reddit, which went viral and ended up having six parts. Harrison will be writing the screenplay.

And it looks like that deal opened the door for Harrison, because now he just landed another seven-figure deal. Amazon Studios just made a deal for the upcoming action film Heads of State, starring John Cena and Idris Elba.

The project was sold after a Zoom pitch presentation with the actors, screenwriter Harrison Query, and the producers (The Safran Company’s Peter Safran and John Rickard). The actors are finalizing, and this was a high six figure against low seven figure deal for the writer.  Amazon moved quickly to halt the pitching process and take Heads of State off the table.

Deadline reports that plot details are being kept under wraps, but they do know it’s a ” ’90s style two-hander, a high octane premise that has a bit of Air Force One meets Hobbs and Shaw.”

No word on when filming might begin, but we’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime, Harrison will search for his next seven-figure deal.

Check Out The Latest Trailer For ‘Bumblebee’ Starring Hailee Steinfeld

You know it’s a slow movie news day when we’re sharing the latest trailer for ‘Bumblebee‘ with you all.

The sixth installment in the ‘Transformers‘ franchise will be acting as a prequel to 2007’s ‘Transformers’ film. No one asked for this movie, but Hollywood is giving it to us.

I guess the one thing interesting about this movie is that it kinda looks a coming-of-age story. Or I guess more accurately, it looks like there is a story, which is a nice change from TRANSFORMERS, EXPLOSIONS, ACTION, ACTION, ACTION, ALIENS!

As mentioned in the title, Bumblebee stars Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena and Pamela Adlon. I love all three of those actors, so maybe I am kinda excited for this movie…just don’t tell anyone.

Bumblebee will hit theaters December 21, 2018. Check out the trailer below…

John Cena Will Be Replacing Dwayne Johnson As Lead In ‘The Janson Directive’

John Cena and Dwayne Johnson have a lot in common. The main thing being that they’re both professional wrestlers who have successfully crossed over to the acting world. They are both legit actors now and their names alone add a lot of value to a film.

And now they’ll be working together…kinda. You see, Johnson was originally set to star as the lead in the upcoming adaptation of Robert Ludlum’s book The Janson Directive.

He recently dropped out of the role, due to his insanely busy schedule; however, he is still attached as a producer. And one of his first jobs as a producer? Find a new lead.

That’s where Cena enters. He has officially signed on to play the lead role in the film, and Johnson went on his Instagram account to congratulate him…

For those wondering, here is the official book synopsis…

“When billionaire philanthropist Peter Novak is kidnapped by a terrorist known as The Caliph, it’s up to Paul Janson, a legend in the notorious U.S. covert agency Consular Operations, to save him. But Janson’s rescue operation goes horribly wrong…and soon Janson is marked for death, the target of a ‘beyond salvage’ order issued from the highest level of the government. Now Janson is running for his life, pursued by Jessica Kincaid, a young agent of astonishing ability who can anticipate and counter his every move. To survive, Janson must outrace a conspiracy that has gone beyond the control of its originators. To win, he must counter it with a conspiracy of his own.”

Say Whaaat? John Cena And Kumail Nanjiani Set To Star In Buddy-Cop Movie

You know what there isn’t enough of in Hollywood? Buddy-cop films where former wrestlers team up with slightly nerdy (and far less intimidating) comedians.

According to a new report from Deadline, John Cena and The Big Sick’s Kumail Nanjiani are set to star in an untitled buddy cop comedy directed by Ruben Fleischer. Murray Miller (Tour De Pharmacy) will write the script, which will tell the story of two police officers who develop a “grudging respect (and fondness) for each other.”

This project is slightly interesting because Fleischer directed Zombieland, Cena is truly a hilarious person, and Kumail is both a funny dude and a legit actor.

So maybe this will actually be a good movie. I’m not going to get excited, though. After movies like Get Hard, Central Intelligence, and Ride Along 2, I can’t let myself get fooled again.

We’ll see what happens. No word on a release date, but we will keep you posted. It doesn’t look like the script is finished yet, so we might be looking at a late 2018 or early 2019 release.

Knight Rider Comedic Movie Reboot Might Star Kevin Hart And John Cena…Yay?

If you want to make sure your movie will be a success at the box office, what should you do? You should make sure either Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson or John Cena is starring in it. That’s all it takes.

And it looks like studios are now getting greedy by putting two in the same film. As most of you know, both Hart and Johnson are starring in the Jumanji reboot, which is scheduled to be released December 20, 2017. You know that film is going to be huge.

Now we are hearing rumors that the planned comedic movie reboot of Knight Rider might star Kevin Hart and John Cena. It’s being reported that Cena would play the titular character, Michael Knight, and Hart would voice the artificially intelligent vehicle KITT.

Neither star has signed a contract, but the studio wants them, and they will probably offer Cena and Hart lots of money. Even if they don’t end up getting the Hart/Cena combo, it gives you an idea of the tone they are looking for with this reboot: an action star with big muscles teaming up with a wimpy guy with a wicked sense of humor.

We haven’t seen Hart in that role before…

Maybe one day a studio will put all three of them in a movie! Throw in Vin Diesel too.

John Cena Starring In A Serious Movie? Check Out The First Trailer For Psychological Thriller ‘The Wall’

This week has been a huge week for trailers. We have seen the Baywatch trailer get released, Fifty Shades Darker, War for the Planet of the Apes, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Assassin’s Creed.

But what about the indie projects? What about the original scripts? Where they at? Well, we got one for you. First-time screenwriter Dwain Worrell’s script for The Wall made the 2014 Black List, and not long after that, it was bought by Amazon Studios.

From there, they teamed up with Roadside Attractions and found a director for the project. An extremely talented director named Doug Liman, whose credits include The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow, and Swingers.

And after landing Liman, Amazon Studios went out and got a great lead, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who just recently killed it in Nocturnal Animals. If you haven’t watched the film, you need to check it out just for his performance.

Anyway, so where does John Cena come in? Well, he’s Johnson’s co-star in The Wall. He’s mostly been in comedies or crappy action films, so it’ll be interesting to see his performance in this movie.

In the film, which is scheduled to be released March 10, 2017, two soldiers (Johnson and Cena) are pinned down by an Iraqi sniper, with nothing but a deteriorating wall between them.

The trailer looks pretty intense. I enjoyed it. You can read the official synopsis and watch the trailer below…

“The Wall follows two soldiers pinned down by an Iraqi sniper, with nothing but a crumbling wall between them. Their fight becomes as much a battle of will and wits as it is of lethally accurate marksmanship.”

Movie Review: Trainwreck (2015) – A Rom-com Without Sap; I Didn’t Think It Was Possible

There is a reason that I hate most romantic comedies. It’s not because of the lack of realism in the plot. I can pretty much enjoy anything that requires a leap of the imagination. Nope, it’s because there’s never a character I can identify with. The girl is always this Type A, high strung ball breaking business women who never had time to settle down because of her career.

Note to movie writers, some of us aren’t in relationships and it has nothing to do with our careers. Some of us are just incredibly immature bed hopping binge drinkers. I can’t identify with some Type A nutjob. That’s why I don’t like romantic comedies and that’s why I loved Trainwreck. Finally, there is a character that represents us. For the first time, I didn’t just like a romantic comedy. I loved a romantic comedy. For that, I thank Amy Schumer.

Trainwreck starts out with young Amy learning all about the dangers of monogamy from her father, who explains it by asking Amy “What if I told you this was the only doll you could ever play with for the rest of your life?” Drilled that monogamy is a bad thing, Amy lives on one night stands and drunken benders. That is until she meets a cute, almost virginal doctor in the course of her job as a magazine writer. Then starts Amy trying to grow up and settle down.

It’s a paint by numbers rom-com but what made it shine is the edge. That edge comes in the form of Amy Schumer and some seriously biting sarcasm and humor. There are so many laugh out loud moments. They’re able to keep it rude without going too crude, and it sucks any overly sappy sweetness right out of the movie.

Trainwreck-LeBron-James-Bill-Hader -25JUL2015

trainwreck-movie-review - 25JUL2015

A rom-com without sap. I didn’t think it was possible. I think it probably has something to do with some of the most flawless casting I’ve ever seen.

Colin Quinn was a stroke of genius as the belligerent, commitment probe dad. While I have never once thought of Bill Hader as a romantic lead, it this movie he just plain shines. While some thought the movie was too cameo heavy, I found that they managed to fit in the cameos pretty seamlessly.

Especially the movie long cameo for LeBron James. He plays Hader’s best friend and he’s pretty good. A lot of that was smart writing. They knew to not give James more than he could handle, and he handled it well. You never forget he’s LeBron James, but I imagine that’s probably what being LeBron James’s best friend is like anyway.

But the big star in this one is Amy Schumer. She is just plain fantastic in this movie and I think it might be her breakthrough. This girl is about to go from being a cable cult following, to a big name star. They didn’t change her up too much from her personality on “Inside Amy Schumer” but it still worked for a romantic comedy.

Trainwreck was very well written and even better cast. If you like Amy Schumer, and even if you hate romantic comedies, this one is worth the watch.

WE GIVE IT: 4.5 STARS!

This Special ‘Trainwreck’ Improv Clip With John Cena Shows Why You Need This Movie In Your Life

If you only have money to see one movie this weekend, you are going to have a difficult time trying to decide which film to see. You have Marvel’s Ant-Man and Judd Apatow’s Trainwreck. Both movies are performing well on Rotten Tomatoes.

Ant-Man has a respectable 78%; however, Trainwreck has a fantastic 90%. As I am writing this, it has 44 fresh reviews and only 4 rotten reviews. The people who have seen this movie claim it’s one of the funniest comedies this year, and with the two leads being played by Bill Hader and Amy Schumer? I believe the early reviews.

And honestly, I need a little break from comic book movies, so I had already planned to watch Trainwreck this weekend. But I understand there are some people still on the fence. They need a little something extra to convince them.

We have that something extra. The video you see below is a special Trainwreck clip with John Cena and Amy Schumer arguing with another couple inside a movie theater.

John Cena is hilarious. Even Judd Apatow was impressed, saying, “[John Cena] said some of the strangest things I’ve ever heard.”

Check out the strangeness in the hilarious video below…

Celebrate Hump Day With Some Laughs, Watch Tina Fey And Amy Poehler In Hilarious ‘Sisters’ Trailer!

With all the huge movies coming out this year, it’s easy to forget about the little comedy starring two of the funniest humans in the world, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

In Sisters, we see Amy and Tina play two estranged sisters who learn their parents (James Brolin, Dianne Wiest) have sold their beloved childhood home. And how do they handle this shocking information? By throwing one more crazy party inside the home before it’s gone for good.

Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) is the director behind the movie, which was written by the talented Paula Pell (Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock). And if you’re a fan of Saturday Night Live, you will be seeing a lot of familiar faces in this movie.

Kate McKinnon, Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch and Bobby Moynihan will all make special appearances. WWE superstar John Cena also has a role in the film.

Sadly, this movie is scheduled to be released December 18. That’s the same day Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens, which means there is no way Sisters will be taking home the top spot at the box office.
