Watch First Trailer For Revenge Thriller ‘Wrath of Man’ Starring Jason Statham

With theaters opening back up, more films are releasing trailers and preparing for a theatrical run.

The latest? Guy Ritchie’s revenge thriller, Wrath of Man. Ritchie wrote/directed this film, and he recruited action film star Jason Statham for the lead role.

Statham stars as the cold, mysterious and wild-eyed ‘H,’ who goes to work at a cash truck company that moves hundreds of millions of dollars around Los Angeles every week. He surprises his new co-workers during a heist in which he unexpectedly unleashes precision skills. The crew is left wondering who he is and where he came from. Soon, the marksman’s ultimate motive becomes clear as he takes dramatic and irrevocable steps to settle a score.

The project is actually a reimagining of Nicholas Boukhrief’s 2004 French heist thriller Le Convoyeur.

In addition to Statham, Wrath of Man also stars Scott Eastwood, Jeffrey Donovan and Josh Hartnett.

It’s set to hit theaters May 7, 2021. Check out the trailer below…

Aubrey Plaza Set To Star In Upcoming Guy Ritchie Thriller With Jason Statham

Aubrey Plaza will forever live in our hearts as April from ‘Parks & Rec‘ but she’s much more than just that.

She’s been starring in a handful of films recently, including the Christmas romance, Happiest Season, where she was perhaps the most likable character in the entire movie.

According to a new report, she’ll be switching genres completely for her next project.

Plaza will star alongside Jason Statham in the Guy Ritchie untitled thriller formally known as Five Eyes.

The story follows MI6 guns-and-steel agent (Statham) who is recruited by a global intelligence alliance to track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology that threatens to disrupt the world order. Reluctantly paired with CIA high-tech expert, Fortune sets off on a globe-trotting mission where he will have to use all of his charm, ingenuity and stealth to track down and infiltrate billionaire arms broker.

Sounds pretty generic to me, but it was reportedly the biggest deal coming out of the TIFF Virtual sales room, so there’s that.

STX will be handling distribution. No word on a potential release date.

The New Trailer For ‘Fast & Furious’ Spinoff ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ Is Packed With Action

If you like action and unrealistic plots, then Hobbs & Shaw is the perfect movie for you. The Fast and Furious spinoff stars Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham as Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw. It also stars Idris Elba, who is playing black Superman. Seriously.

This movie looks absolutely ridiculous in every way possible, but it also looks really entertaining. Like get yourself some popcorn and completely lose yourself inside the theater.

It definitely looks like a theater-only film. No way I’d watch this on my 32-inch Samsung.

We don’t really need to tell you about the plot of this movie because it doesn’t matter. It comes second to the action, and this trailer has a lot of action.

Check it out below. Hobbs & Shaw will hit theaters August 2, 2019.

Jason Statham Stars In Absolutely Insane Trailer For Shark Film ‘The Meg’

Shark movies became popular after the success of ‘Jaws‘ back in 1975.  Obviously, the reason Jaws worked was because it was a brilliant movie, not because it was about a massive shark. But still, people tried to ride the shark train in Hollywood, and it never really worked out like they had hoped.

The folks behind the upcoming film ‘The Meg‘ are hoping they can change that. The title of the movie is short for Megalodon, a 75-foot-long prehistoric shark believed to be extinct, until one mysteriously shows up in the Pacific ocean.

“It’s no coincidence the creature appears off the coast of China, as ‘The Meg’ seems to be targeting the massive Chinese market with the casting of the local star Li Bingbing (‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’) as its female lead, an oceanographer’s daughter. Mr. Statham, a Brit, has proved more bankable as a member of an ensemble cast  than he has as a solo star, and ‘The Meg’ surrounds him with recognizable faces from TV series, including Cliff Curtis (‘Fear the Walking Dead’), Rainn Wilson (‘The Office’) and Ruby Rose (‘Orange is the New Black’).”

I must say, this trailer looks pretty dope. If you want to be entertained, I think this movie is going to deliver. Check out the trailer below. It’s scheduled to be released August 10, 2018.

Movie Review: Spy (2015) – McCarthy Is No Longer A Sidekick. She’s A Leading Lady In Her Own Right.

spy-image-melissa-mccarthy1 - 14JUN2015

There is something so refreshing about Melissa McCarthy and the characters she plays. She doesn’t rely on sex appeal, but she doesn’t stay in the background either. She’s not an object of pity. She’s just a funny lady with some great comedic timing. That’s why is decided to check out Spy.

In it, we meet Susan Cooper (McCarthy) a desk bound CIA agent who spends most of her time shut up in the agency’s basement, crushing on the debonair Bradley Fine (Jude Law). Then, when her unrequited crush is taken by the evil Rayna Boyanov (Rose Byrne), Cooper is sent into the field to retrieve him. Once Boyanov and Cooper meet, that’s where the film really gets going. These two had some amazing chemistry that really made the film shine.

The movie is a bit similar to the first movie that rocketed McCarthy into the limelight, The Heat. This one is something more, because we don’t have to deal with Sandra Bullock’s nails on a chalkboard approach to comedy. There’s just something about Bullock that’s inherently unlikeable and I’ve always found her less than stellar in comedic performances.

Melissa-Mccarthy-Spy-Wallpapers - 14JUN2015

spy-4-gallery-image 14JUN2015

Teaming McCarthy with Byrne was the best choice. These two have strong chemistry and work together well, neither overshadowing the other. Byrne’s snark and McCarthy’s clueless comebacks are worth a laugh every single time.

Of course, we see some character growth in this film. McCarthy’s character goes from wearing crochet tops and using “Jesus Christmas” as her favorite swear word, to wearing leather and swearing like a trucker.

One thing that confused me about this film. Why are there so many British people in the CIA? This includes one character the film could have done without, Nancy (Miranda Hart). She’s sent to be Susan’s sidekick, but really just manages to be incredibly irritating. The main characters are already the comedic relief in this story. There was no need to add more.

The ending ties up loose ends nicely, while leaving plenty of room for a sequel. They don’t kill off anyone important, so most of the characters will come back to play. While I was initially dreading them making more Heat movies, I have to say, I’d be happy to watch a sequel of Spy. There’s just something about McCarthy and America’s attitude towards her that’s grown in that time. McCarthy is no longer a sidekick. She’s a leading lady in her own right.

Though I do hope that she doesn’t get stuck playing one kind of character all the time. She has range and talent, and it would be a shame if she was turned into the chubby funny girl permanently. While I do enjoy a story about a bumbling cop, there’s only so many anyone can make without people getting sick of them.

Just ask Paul Blart.

Spy is an enjoyable effort that will keep audience members laughing. There’s the occasional spy movie cliché, but for the most part, the gags are gags that haven’t been done before. This is easily worth the watch and worth the sequel.

10 Actors Who Were Badly Injured While Filming

bruc

People say actors don’t deserve all the money they receive. Millions of dollars just to appear on camera for a few weeks? It’s not fair!

But it’s not that simple. Yeah, we pay our athletes and entertainers too much money; however let’s not pretend like they have the easiest job in the world. Actors work extremely hard to produce quality entertainment, and sometimes their passion gets them in some serious trouble.

The 10 actors you see down below definitely earned their ridiculous paychecks.

sta8

No. 10 – Joseph Gordon-Levitt

While filming the 2012 thriller Premium Rush, Joseph Gordon-Levitt had a little accident while riding his bike around New York City. The actor told Celebuzz that a diplomat is to blame for the nasty cut on his arm, which required 31 stitches.

“A diplomat broke through our lock-up. You know, in New York City, you have the United Nations. There’s diplomats driving around, and they can break the law. So, he broke through our cones and went past the cops and double parked right where we were shooting. Basically, I ended up going through the rear window of a taxi cab.”

Joseph is a true actor, though. Instead of going down to the ground in pain, he asked the director of the film to shoot video of his injury, “I was stoked that they actually put it in (the movie).” He said.

sta2

No. 9 – Charlize Theron

Looking back at it now, Charlize Theron probably regrets agreeing to star in 2005’s massive flop, Aeon Flux. The film lost nearly $10 million after only taking in $52 million worldwide. Critics hated it, fans hated it and it was nominated for a few Razzies.

But we can’t blame the failure on Charlize Theron. She gave this movie her all, and ended up with a pretty serious neck injury. While performing a series of back handsprings, she slipped and landed on her neck. She was hospitalized for five days after suffering nerve damage, “It was numb on the right side of my body.” Theron told reporters. Production was shut down for two months while she recovered.

sta4

No. 8 – Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum’s gruesome injury wasn’t life-threatening; however we have to imagine it was probably one of the most painful injuries on this list. The 34-year-old actor was in Scotland filming a scene for the 2011 film The Eagle, and during the scene his character had to wade through freezing water in a wetsuit. Between takes, the crew would warm Tatum up by pouring a mix of boiling water and river water down his wetsuit.

After the last shot of the day, a crew member asked the actor if he wanted to warm up before he left the set for the day…

“I’m like, Nah, I’m good. And then I thought, Why not? Thing is, he’d forgotten to dilute the kettle water. So he poured scalding water down my suit. And I was trying to pull the suit away from my body to somehow get away from the boiling water, and the more I pulled the suit away, the lower the water went. It just went straight down and pretty much burned the skin off the head of my dick.”

Yeah. He suffered some serious burns to his penis. He was rushed to the hospital (which was an hour away) and they loaded him up with morphine once he arrived. Thankfully, everything healed up eventually, but Tatum claims it was the most painful thing he has ever experienced.

sta9

No. 7 – Jason Statham

Jason Statham’s co-stars say it was the actor’s professional diving experience that helped him get out of a scary situation while filming The Expendables 3. Statham was driving a three-ton truck when the brakes went out, which resulted in a 60-foot plunge into the Black Sea.

“Luckily we had taken the doors off before.”  Stallone told reporters. But he added that if anyone else was behind the wheel, they probably would have died…

“If anyone else had been in that truck we would have been dead because we were all wearing heavy boots and gun belts. We would have drowned. But because Jason is an Olympic-quality diver he got out of it.”

sta7

No. 6 – Bruce Willis

Most of the injuries you see on this list only caused temporary discomfort, but Bruce Willis suffered permanent damage while filming the first Die Hard. The director of the film, John McTiernan, had extra-loud blanks to make the film feel and sound as real as possible. It worked out great for the movie, but it ended up causing permanent hearing loss for poor Bruce.

“I suffer two-thirds partial hearing loss in my left ear and have a tendency to say, ‘Whaaa?'” He revealed during a Q&A session with The Guardian.

This may explain why he’s so freaking grumpy all the time.

sta3

No. 5 – Jaimie Alexander

During an interview with the New York Post, Jaimie Alexander explained just how bad the injury she suffered on the London set of Thor: Dark World really was.

“It was raining, it was dark outside, it was like 5 in the morning — and I went down a metal staircase and slipped and slipped a disc in my thoracic spine and chipped 11 of my vertebrae… I knocked my left shoulder out of place and tore my rhomboid on my right side . . . It took me out of filming for a month.”

Ouch.

sta1

No. 4 – Jackie Chan

Oh, Jackie Chan. He has injured himself several times while performing stunts for his movies, but his worst injury happened on the set of the 1986 film, Armour of God. During the filming of the opening sequence, Jackie was asked to jump from a castle wall to a tree branch. He successfully completed the jump on the first take, but he wasn’t pleased with the result, so he decided to perform the stunt again.

During his second attempt, the tree branch broke and Chan fell 25 feet to the ground. His head slammed against a rock on the ground, which cracked his skull and forced a piece of bone up into his brain. He was flown to the hospital and was in surgery for over eight hours. Decades later, he still has a hole in his head filled with a little plastic plug “to keep (his) brains in.”

sta5

No. 3 – Halle Berry

The extremely talented actress wasn’t even performing a stunt when she broke her arm on the set of Gothika. The accident took place right in the middle of the film’s nine-week shoot in Canada. Berry was filming a scene which required her to put up a fight against a doctor (Robert Downey Jr.) who was trying to pin her to a cot. She apparently got really into the scene because she resisted his grip with so much force that she broke her ulna.

“I knew that it was broken instantly and Robert knew it, too, because he heard the [ulna] snap.” The actress revealed. She impressed her co-stars by returning to the set just three weeks later.

No. 2 – George Clooney

The pain George Clooney suffered after his injury on the set of Syriana was so severe that it actually made him contemplate suicide. While filming an intense scene for the film, Clooney severely injured his spine. The constant pain from the accident was too much for the actor.

He told Rolling Stone the following…

“I was at a point where I thought, ‘I can’t exist like this. I can’t actually live.’ I was lying in a hospital bed with an IV in my arm, unable to move, having these headaches where it feels like you’re having a stroke, and for a short three-week period, I started to think, ‘I may have to do something drastic about this.'”

Thankfully, he eventually had successful surgery to fix the painful injury.

sta

No. 1 – Sylvester Stallone

Stallone wanted everything to be completely realistic while filming the original punching scenes between his character Rocky and Dolph Lundgren’s character Drago. Every punch landed was real, and at one point, Stallone asked Dolph to really try to knock him out. The incredibly strong punch to Stallone’s chest slammed his heart against his breastbone, which caused his heart to swell.

He went to the emergency room later in the day because he had trouble breathing. Once inside the hospital, Stallone realized just how serious the injury was. His blood pressure was over 200 and he was forced to stay in intensive care for nine days. If he hadn’t went to the hospital that night, doctors say his heart would have likely stopped.

Furious 7 Official Trailer – Some Walker and a lot of Wow!

Fast and Furious Cast on post with Fast and Furious Furious 7 Trailer

E! held a live panel discussion that I have to say was just “painful”.  Thank God that Ludacris and Jason Statham were there because the rest of the cast was like watching very attractive paint dry.  Vin Diesel struggles to find his next thought and Tyrese is so full of himself that even when he’s trying not to be full of himself, it comes off as a guy who is full of himself trying to let people think that he’s not.  (Did you get that?).

Statham and Ludacris are just charming without effort and the Rock who is also super charismatic was unfortunately not there.  However, don’t’ worry, as you can see in the trailer he is in the movie.

Furious 7 is the first film that actually takes place after Tokyo Drift.  The previous films actually take place after Furious 2 and Tokyo drift.  This is something that I did not realize until this past week.   Universal released a seven second behind the scenes video each day up until today in an effort they called “7 Seconds of 7″.  Honestly they were all really not worthy of reporting on because the trailer is all I and most fans really wanted to see.

THE TRAILER

If you are a movie snob, or one of the people who sit there and point out things like physics and gravity and what is real life and what is not, then this isn’t for you and I suggest you click a link and move on.  If you are not, then you will not be able to contain your excitement.  This is everything a car/action movie ever wants to be.  It takes cars, action, money, hot guys, hot girls and fight scenes to the level that modern day blockbusters with IMAX viewing should be.  The movie hits theaters April 3, 2015.

At this point talk (and type) is cheap so without further adieu I present: FURIOUS 7 – THE OFFICIAL TRAILER

Movie Review: The Expendables 3 – Makes the First two look like Film Masterpieces.

expendable 2014

I have to caveat this review with: If you are a senseless violence, explosion, action movie, big budget film fan, then ignore this review and go see the movie. Despite the review if there was an Expendables 8, I would be there the first day.  The below is me putting on my film critic hat.

I try to check out every single Sylvester Stallone flick because I love watching a good train wreck. Stallone is men’s answer to Madonna. He refuses to accept the fact that he is no longer 27 and can’t play the same rolls anymore. Instead, he desperately clutches onto his last vestiges of youth. It’s really an undignified, but utterly fascinating struggle.

In this third installment, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team come face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who from his last name and the fact that he’s played by Mel Gibson, is obviously a bag guy. Once upon a time, Barney and Stonebanks were the best of friends, right up until Stonebanks because a ruthless arms trader. This time, Barney destroys the purpose of the Expendables in the first place, by bringing in a bunch of new kids who can actually do the job.

The whole reason the Expendables was even watchable was thrown out in this movie. The Expendables are supposed to be a bunch of old men that no one cares about anymore. In order to breathe new life into a tired premise, as well as give us some younger than 50 boob shots, a bunch of younger more tech savvy (and flexible in the morning) people are hired.

Which kind of eliminates the need for the Expendables.

arnie-expendables-3-5

hr_The_Expendables_3_21

Is it just me, or does Stallone’s face not move anymore? I swear to God, I did not see it move once during this film. Whether he was shooting down bad guys with an AK-47, or catching up on American Idol, Barney wore one expression. It was the slightly surprised look of a fading star in his 50s who got a too tight facelift.

Mel Gibson seems to be embracing these villain rolls, but he doesn’t really have a choice. I mean, when you go off on an anti-Semitic tirade against an industry that’s like 90% Jewish, you’re going to get type cast as a villain. But I think Gibson might have found his calling. I like him so much more now that he admits he’s evil.

The newbie’s in this film are a bunch of forgettable eye candy, there to keep younger viewers watching.

The Expendables was never high art, but the third installment of the series makes the first two look like Schindler’s List. This really was a poor effort and a shameless money grab.

I’m a bit disappointed in the fact that Lionsgate would even put this out as is. This is an action franchise that had a great premise. It was the premise that kept people coming back, when Stallone’s rubber face would have scared them away. To completely change the formula in the third installment smacks of desperation. Perhaps Lionsgate is losing faith in their dying franchise.

It isn’t dead yet though. The Expendables 3 is currently performing at number 4 in the box office, having earned a little over $15 million. Despite those numbers I have to say, the Expendables 3 is utterly…expendable.

The First Full ‘Expendables 3’ Trailer – Makes Getting Old Look Fun!

the-expendables-3-image-Sylvester-Stallone

With the premiere coming just a few months away, Lionsgate decided to give us a little more than a sneak peek by releasing the first full trailer.  Until now we have just been watching and rewatching the roll call teaser trailer.  To say that this is an all star cast is putting it lightly, the net worth of this cast alone is probably more than the national debt.

I think what I like most about the Expendables franchise is that it knows what it is.  It knows it’s cheesy and over the top and in the third installment they continue to embrace both of these.  The trailer shows Mel Gibson as Conrad Stonebacks and it’s clear he is the bad guy.  It also makes a few things clear; there are more stars, more explosions and more cheesy one liners – so if you liked the first two, then number 3 will not disappoint.

With a release date of August 15, as the caption says, Let’s “Get Ready for One Last Run”.   Watch the trailer below.

Two More Bad Ass Photos from the set of ‘Expendables 3’

Expendables 3 Logo

Forgive me for getting overly excited about this movie, but it’s hard not to. This is probably the most fun that you will ever have making a movie. This is everything that these guys ever dreamed about in a movie, a huge budget and absolutely no pressure to make a good film. Basically even if they fail they succeed. This is the type of movie that you go to, leave your brain at home and watch the action heroes do work.

[toggle title=”OFFICIAL MOVIE SYNOPSIS”]In The Expendables 3, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables — but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.[/toggle]

Before I sell this movie too short, it is directed by Patrick Hughes who did “Red Hill” and the screenplay was written by Rothenberger, Benedikt (of ‘Olympus Has Fallen’) and Stallone,
