‘It: Chapter Two’ Has Solid Opening, Bringing In Over $90 Million In Its Debut

As expected, it was a successful opening weekend at the box office for ‘It: Chapter Two

The sequel to 2017’s ‘It‘ was expected to make around $85 million this past weekend, which would have made it the second-best opening for a horror film, only behind its predecessor.

Did it make it? Yes. ‘It: Chapter Two’ earned $91 million during its opening weekend. The first film made $123 million during its debut back in 2017, so that means this sequel came in 25% behind.

The drop was expected though, partly because this sequel was getting mixed reviews from critics. The hype wasn’t as insane this time around.

But still, a $91 million opening for an r-rated horror film is absolutely fantastic, and we’re sure the studio is super happy.

The film also made $94 million internationally, which means it had a cool $185 million total globally.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this sequel had a $90 million budget before marketing. Warners domestic distribution chief Jeff Goldstein, told the site the following..

For me, the big headline is that we now have the No. 1 and No. 2 horror openings. We always said this film would get to $85 million or $90 million; we were never going to hit lightning in a bottle again.

The First Reactions To ‘IT Chapter Two’ Are In, And They Range From Awesome To “Meh”

A few days ago we told you that early tracking suggests ‘It Chapter Two’ could make around $110 million during its opening weekend next month, which would be around $10 million less than the original film.

We also told you that if the reviews from critics were outstanding, it could surprise people and match the original film’s opening weekend total.

Unfortunately, it looks like the film is destined to have mixed reviews. We got our first wave of reactions on Twitter yesterday, and the critics were split. Some said it was amazing, and some said it was pretty damn boring.

But there is one thing they all agree on, and that is Bill Hader’s amazing performance in the film. He apparently steals the show, and at least one critic believes he should be nominated for an Oscar.

Check out the reactions below. It Chapter Two hits theaters September 5, 2019.

Check Out The First Trailer For ‘It Chapter Two’ Starring Bill Hader And Jessica Chastain

It’s finally here, folks! The first trailer for ‘It: Chapter Two‘ was released today, and fans are freaking out.

The highly anticipated sequel to 2017’s ‘It‘ has been teased with an endless parade of red balloons for months now, so it’s nice to finally see some footage.

The first movie earned just over $700 million worldwide, making it one of the most successful Stephen King adaptations ever.

This trailer starts out with an extremely creepy scene between Jessica Chastain’s character and an old granny. The rest of the trailer is just a bunch of short clips cut together, but that opening scene is more than enough to get us excited.

While the first film was hilarious, this sequel promises to be darker, and this trailer shows that dark side in a gloriously creepy way.

Check it out below. It: Chapter Two will hit theaters September 6, 2019.

Check Out The New Teaser Poster For ‘IT Chapter Two’ Inside!

Halloween might be over now, but it’s never too early to start preparing for the upcoming round of scares next year.

IT Chapter Two‘ is set to be released in September of 2019, and to get you hyped, they released the teaser poster you see at the bottom of this page.

Admittedly, the poster is pretty lame. It mainly just acts as a reminder that the movie is going to be released next year. For those who don’t know, this sequel will take place 27 years after the events of the first film. The adult cast will include James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Jay Ryan and James Ranson.

And obviously Bill Skarsgard will return to reprise his role as the killer clown. The kids from the first film will also return during flashbacks.

The first movie premiered in September of 2017 and made over $123 million during its opening weekend. It was the highest opening weekend for a September release in movie history.

The studio is hoping next year’s film breaks their own record. It’ll hit theaters September 6, 2019. Check out the poster below…

The first film earned $700 million worldwide at the box office.

Jessica Chastain Confirmed For ‘It: Chapter 2’ And Bill Hader Could Be Joining Her!

Just yesterday (April 12) we told you that ‘It: Chapter 2′ was scheduled to start filming in July in Toronto, and we should expect to hear more casting news soon.

Well, we were right. It was confirmed late Thursday that Jessica Chastain will play the grown up version of Beverly Marsh. It’s a great casting decision considering she looks like the mother of the actress who played Beverly in the original film. As you all know, this sequel will feature a 27-year time jump to show the characters returning to their hometown as adults to take on Pennywise once again.

In addition to the Chastain casting news, we are now hearing that Bill Hader and James McAvoy are in talks to join her. McAvoy is in talks for the role of Bill and Hader is going for the role of Richie, who was played by Finn Wolfhard in the original movie.

Sources stress that negotiations are early and that the script is still being worked on,” but we wouldn’t be surprised to hear official confirmations soon. I believe Hader and McAvoy would be great in the movie.

We will continue to keep you posted as more casting news is released. We’re sure every actor in Hollywood wants to be involved. This sequel is basically a guaranteed success. The first installment made over $700 million worldwide.

Bill Skarsgard Reveals ‘It: Chapter Two’ Will Be A More Adult Story

As most of you should know, It: Chapter Two will not pick up right where the first film left off. As much as we loved the kids in the movie, they will be all grown up in this sequel. The film will follow the group 27 years later as adults.

Which means we will be seeing a more adult story. Bill Skarsgard, who plays the terrifying Pennywise, talked with IGN recently and he revealed this second chapter will be more adult-themed and psychological.

“The first movie worked so well at what it is trying to do, I think, and ultimately that is the kids’ story, and you follow these kids and you sort of fall in love with these kids. And the second one will be the adult story. And I think the right way to do it is to make that movie actively different. … I think there might be worth exploring sort of the psychological aspects of horror, but also maybe the sort of cosmological existence of this being. What is he, and where does he come from?”

It sounds like this second film will be deeper than the first. That’s not to say it won’t also be humorous at times, but we have to remember the kids will be grown up now, so those “your mom” jokes will no longer be cute.

As much as I love the first film, I hope the second one is completely different. It sounds like they’re going in that direction, which is great news. It: Chapter Two will hit theaters September 6, 2019.
