Jordan Peele And Issa Rae Join Universal Pictures Mystery Drama ‘Sinkhole’

The dream team? Quite possibly! According to a new report, Jordan Peele and Issa Rae have jumped on board Universal Pictures’ family drama, Sinkhole, which is based on a short story by Leyna Krow.

The plan is for Rae to star in the film and for Peele to produce.

The story centers on a young family knowingly moving into a house with a sinkhole in the backyard and discovering that the sinkhole that manages to take all things that are broken and destroyed and make them perfect again.

No word on if Peele’s involvement will stop at the producer level, or if he’ll decide he wants to direct/write as well.

This news is still pretty fresh, so not much is known, but we’re sure more will be released soon.

As for Rae, she’s riding high right now. Yesterday, she received Emmy nominations for her comedy series ‘Insecure’ which has been a huge hit for HBO.

Issa Rae And Kumail Nanjiani Will Star In Upcoming Romantic Comedy ‘The Lovebirds’

Insecure‘ creator Issa Rae and ‘The Big Sick‘ co-writer/co-star Kumail Nanjiani are set to star in the upcoming romantic comedy feature, The Lovebirds.

Michael Showalter, the director of The Big Sick, will direct this project based on a script by Aaron Abrams, Brendan Gall and Martin Gero.

Kumail and Issa will play a couple on the brink of a breakup…

“The pair subsequently become embroiled in a bizarre and hijinks-filled murder mystery, and as they get close to clearing their names and solving the case, the twosome need to figure out how they, and their relationship, can survive the night.”

Well, I love a good murder mystery, so I’m pretty excited for this. I loved 2018’s ‘Game Night,’ which was a comedy/murder mystery type movie. This sounds like something similar, except you’re dealing with a couple who is about to split. Will a murder bring them together?

According to the report, the movie has been fast-tracked into production and will start filming later this month. No word on a release date, but with how fast they’re moving it could be late 2019 or early 2020. We’ll keep you posted.
