If The Projections Are Correct, Ghostbusters May Not Top The Box Office This Weekend

You know what’s scarier than ghosts? Failing at the box office. Spending $154 million (plus millions more in advertising) on a film, and then not being rewarded with success at the box office. This terrifying situation could come true for Sony and the creative team behind the new Ghostbusters film.

When the movie was first announced, some people believed it had the chance to absolutely destroy at the box office, but after being hit with a storm of controversy and producing the most disliked film trailer in the history of YouTube, things aren’t looking so hot for the studio.

According to The Wrap, experts believe Ghostbusters could bring home up to $50 million during its opening weekend, which is honestly great for a live-action comedy film. The last live-action comedy to bring in over $33 million was Ted 2 last year.

But we have to remember, this isn’t your typical comedy movie. Sony developed this in hopes of creating a new franchise, and at one point believed the “possibilities for sequels” were endless. They might have a lot of ideas; however, it won’t mean much if no one is paying to see them.

One of the more shocking things about this situation is that the remake probably won’t even grab the top spot at the box office this weekend. Even if it reaches the $50 million projection, The Secret Life of Pets is expected to bring in at least another $55 million, and that’s after it earned over $100 million last weekend.

It’ll be interesting to see how things play out. Maybe the international market will save the movie.

It Is Finally Here, Watch The First Trailer For The New ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot!

After months of teasing, the team behind the new Ghostbusters film has finally decided to give us our first real taste of the all-female reboot of the ’80s classic. The trailer just continues to display the incredible amount of fierceness we saw in the posters and teaser images leading up to this moment.

The trailer opens up with a lone piano playing, which honestly makes you feel a little nervous. I started looking over my shoulder during the first few seconds, but then Kristen Wiig gets slimed and that’s when the laughs start coming in.

That stuff went everywhere, by the way. In every crack. Very hard to wash off.” Wiig tells a shocked Melissa McCarthy, who looks absolutely amazing in this trailer.

And while Melissa, Kristen and Kate McKinnon get most of the laughs early on in the trailer, Leslie Jones comes on strong at the end. This trailer does a nice job of showing everyone’s talent.

Check out the madness below. The film is scheduled to hit theaters July 15. Don’t let the haters stop you from enjoying this one. It looks like a lot of fun.

‘Ghostbusters’ Teases Fans With A Trailer Preview And A New Poster, Check Out The Action Inside!

Ah, here we go again. One of the biggest movies of the year is about to drop its first trailer, which means there is a lot of ear nibbling going on right about now. Sony Pictures is working hard to make sure you’re warm and ready for this full Ghostbusters trailer.

How are they doing it? Well, they started on Valentine’s Day by releasing the 30-second trailer preview you see below. It doesn’t show much of anything, but it does just enough to leave you wanting more. And at the end of the video, it’s revealed the full trailer will drop March 3, 2016.

Pretty exciting stuff, right? But wait…there’s more! Yesterday, the official teaser poster was released! You can check it out at the bottom of this page. They are keeping things simple and I must admit it’s working, at least for me.

As most of you probably know by now, this Ghostbusters reboot is directed by Paul Feig and stars Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig. It’s scheduled to hit theaters July 15, 2016.

Are you excited yet? Or are you waiting to see what the full trailer looks like first?

Ghostbusters Reboot Releases New Image And Teases Supernatural Villain!

Paul Feig‘s Ghostbusters reboot will hit theaters July 15, 2016, which is a little crazy to think about. It seems like just yesterday the “bros” of the internet were losing their minds when they discovered females would be taking over the franchise.

In reality, it’s been several months since the sexist reactions spread across the internet. Filming of the movie took place in New York City and Boston from June to September. And for a month or two after, you didn’t hear much from Ghostbusters land.

But now that we’re just seven months away from the release, promotion for the film is starting to heat up. Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have another fierce image from the reboot to share online. You can check out the new image at the bottom of this page.

Before you travel down though, we should tell you that the EW article revealed the new Ghostbusters team will be fighting the spirits of deceased criminals…

” Pilgrims, old-timey sailors, Revolutionary War spirits, and even a couple of zoot-suited gangsters are ready to take on four formidable female busters looking to rid the city of its phantasmic filth.”

Sounds like it’s going to be an entertaining (and bumpy) ride.

Kristen Wiig Admits Negative Reaction Toward All-Female ‘Ghostbusters’ Bummed Her Out

Now that Kristen Wiig has finished filming the all-female Ghostbusters reboot, she’s ready to talk about the backlash against the upcoming film. As some of you may remember, when Paul Feig confirmed he was directing this movie, thousands of online trolls came out to say, “WHAT? WOMEN CAN’T FIGHT GHOSTS!”

People truly thought that putting women in the lead roles would ruin the classic film. They weren’t worried about the script, the director, or anything else that actually matters when it comes to making a movie. They just didn’t want those ladies leaving their stations inside the kitchen.

This obviously upset Kristen Wiig, who will star in the movie. During an interview with the LA Times, the actress talked about how bummed out she was…

“The fact there was so much controversy because we were women was surprising to me. Some people said some really not nice things about the fact that there were women. It didn’t make me mad, it just really bummed me out. We’re really honoring those movies.”

Hopefully that quote will make those haters feel bad, especially since she pulled the whole, “I’m not mad…I’m just disappointed.” card.

Paul Feig wasn’t as nice. Back in March, he told Variety that internet bullies wrote “some of the most vile, misogynistic s— I’ve ever seen in my life,” adding that most of the time it wasn’t even some silly teenager.

“But almost constantly it’s someone who’s bio says ‘Proud father of two!’ And has some high-end job. You’re raising children and yet you’re bashing me about putting women in my movie?”

You can watch Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy in action when the reboot hits theaters July 22, 2016.

It’s A Wrap! Ghostbusters Reboot Ends Filming, Check Out Some Of The Final Set Photos!

Step one is complete. Production on the Ghostbusters reboot wrapped last Saturday, but not before another original Ghostbusters star made a special appearance on set.

As most of you know, Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd already filmed their cameo roles, and this past weekend Ernie Hudson joined in on the fun. According to the reports, most of his scenes will include Leslie Jones and Melissa McCarthy. That doesn’t really tell us much of anything, but we thought it was information you should know. We do know that all three of the original cast members will be playing new characters in the reboot.

Ernie Hudson seemed to really enjoy his day on set. In fact, he called it one of the most fun days of his career on Twitter.

All reports from the set matched Ernie’s comments. It seems like everyone enjoyed making this film, and that’s usually a good sign for the audience. A healthy work environment usually creates a quality product.

Now that filming has ended, it won’t be long before the marketing team starts pumping out posters, official teaser photos, trailers, etc. But for now, you’ll have to settle for these on-set photos from ComingSoon. The film is scheduled for a July 15, 2016 release date.

Bill Murray Will Make Special Appearance In ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot

It didn’t look like it was going to happen. Bill Murray has been against appearing in a third Ghostbusters film for a long time, mainly because the second film wasn’t as successful as the first. He was afraid the trend would continue.

But according to The Hollywood Reporter, the 64-year-old actor has agreed to make a special appearance in the new reboot being directed by Paul Feig. The actor was spotted in Boston, MA, heading to the set of the film. No one knows how big or small his role will be.

Will he return as his original character? We don’t know. We do know that Dan Aykroyd will also make a special appearance in the film, which isn’t surprising considering he has been trying to get another Ghostbusters movie made for years now.

It’ll be interesting to see how Murray and Aykroyd fit in with this hard reboot. My guess? They’ll only appear on screen for a few seconds. Just enough time for the audience to get excited.

As mentioned above, Paul Feig will be directing. Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig, Chris Hemsworth and Cecily Strong star in the movie. It’s currently scheduled for a July 15, 2016 release.

Emma Stone Explains Why She Passed On The ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot

Paul Feig’s all-female Ghostbusters reboot certainly has some impressive stars. Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and even the wonderful Cecily Strong. That’s an all-star cast right there.

However, there is one talented player missing from the lineup. Everyone wanted Emma Stone to star in this reboot, including the original Ghostbuster, Bill Murray. Sony showed a lot of interest in the 26-year-old actress, but Stone turned down the role.

And during a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Stone explained why she passed on the project…

“The script was really funny. It just didn’t feel like the right time for me. A franchise is a big commitment — it’s a whole thing. I think maybe I need a minute before I dive back into that water.”

Sounds like she is trying to avoid hurting some feelings, right? She can’t just come out and say, “The script was terrible. I didn’t want my name attached to this film.”

Of course, there is a chance she is telling the truth. Original Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd spoke to Spinoff Online recently and he seemed to enjoy the script…

“The new one’s going to be big! The interplay, and with each of them, their individual voices are so well defined. They’re just such different characters, and there’s a friction. There’s a dynamic there. I’m not going to spoil it for people, but it’s going to be big, big!”

We’ll see how things play out. I just don’t see why Stone would have passed (hey-o!) if she truly enjoyed the script. The time is always right to play a major role in a successful franchise.

Chris Hemsworth Has Joined The All-Female ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot!

Director Paul Feig (The Heat, Bridesmaids) is committed to this expansive gender-swapping of Ghostbusters. We already know the all-male group from the original will be replaced with an all-female group in this new reboot.

And now we know Feig will continue the trend by replacing the original female receptionist played by Annie Potts with the manliest dude out there, Chris Hemsworth.

Feig announced the news on his Twitter account…

One thing is clear, this movie is going to be filled with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. You have Hemsworth, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. It’s obvious Chris doesn’t have as much experience in the comedy world as his costars; however, Feig has made it clear that this reboot won’t be all comedy.

He mentioned last year how he wanted to make people laugh, but also make sure they left the theater feeling a little bit scared…

Both [screenwriter Katie Dippold] and I are obsessed with how do we make comedy really scary? The sequel to ‘The Heat’ was going to be pretty scary and funny. Almost like in a ‘Silence of the Lambs’ type thing but funny. I think funny people in peril and in danger is one of the best forms of comedy, and I really like things to play very real while funny things are happening.

It’s definitely going to be interesting. Feig’s Ghostbusters will begin filming this summer and is currently scheduled to be released July 22, 2016.

All-Female Cast Revealed For The ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot, Find Out Which Funny Ladies Made The Cut!

We have been talking about this all-female ‘Ghostbusters‘ reboot for months now. Trying to figure out who Paul Feig would choose to bring the Ghostbusters franchise back to life. Well, we are happy to report that the speculation has ended.

Director Paul Feig surprised us all yesterday when he revealed the huge casting news on his Twitter account. We now know that Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon will star in the film.

We all know the first two names. Wiig and McCarthy’s names were attached to this project from the very start, but the casting of Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones did surprise some people. Kate McKinnon made news a few weeks ago for her brilliant Justin Bieber impression on SNL.

And Leslie Jones, who also stars on SNL, grabbed everyone’s attention in Chris Rock’s recent film Top Five.

Deadline is reporting that all the funny ladies listed above are still in negotiations, so there is still a chance we could see a last minute change; however, we find that highly unlikely. None of these ladies are going to ruin their chances of starring in a freaking Ghostbusters film! I’d star in the film for a chewed-up piece of gum and a package of M&M’s.

After announcing the casting news, Feig also announced the scheduled release date for the film.

We can’t wait!
