Yes, it’s true. Academy-award winning actress Julianne Moore was fired from a movie set recently.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Moore was asked by a caller why she left the lead role in ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?‘
Moore revealed she didn’t leave. She was fired by the original director of the movie. Apparently, the director didn’t like the direction Moore was taking the character and decided to fire her during preproduction.
Yeah, yeah, Nicole [Holofcener, the original director] fired me. So yeah, that’s the truth. I think she didn’t like what I was doing. I think that her idea of where the character was was different than where my idea of where the character was, and so she fired me.
As you all know, Melissa McCarthy replaced her in the lead role and her performance earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. It was a pretty special moment for McCarthy, who was mostly known for her light, comedic roles.
Moore says she still hasn’t watch the movie ’cause it’s a bit painful still, “The only other time I was fired was when I was working at a yogurt stand when I was 15. So yeah, it felt bad,” she told the audience.
The good news for Moore is that she’s back on track in 2019. Her upcoming film ‘Gloria Bell’ is getting great reviews and currently has a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
