Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Red Notice’ Film Pushed Back Five Months

Fans of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will have to wait a little longer to see his upcoming movie, Red Notice.

Universal Studios announced they are pushing the movie back five months from June 12, 2020 to November 13, 2020. It’s an interesting move, considering they had no competition yet for the original date in June.

This new date has Red Notice going up against Paramount’s ‘Rugrats‘ films. In Red Notice, Johnson plays an Interpol agent tasked with capturing the most-wanted art thief in the world.

According to the reports, he’s getting a $20 million paycheck for this role, so hopefully this movie is a box office hit. If not, the studio is going to feel a little silly.

But then again, it’s not exactly a risk to bet on Johnson. The audience loves him. Most of his films find success at the box office. Hell, ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle‘ made a ridiculous $962 million.

His most recent films, Rampage and Skyscraper, made $426 million and $304 million respectively. Not nearly as much as Jumanji, but that’s still a lot of money. It makes writing a $20 million check easy for the studio.

Dwayne Johnson Set To Produce And Star In Robert Zemeckis’ Upcoming Film ‘The King’

Dwayne Johnson is already the biggest movie star in the world, and now he’s trying to keep the title for years to come. It was announced this week that Johnson will play Hawaiian king Kamehameha in the historical drama, The King.

The movie, which will be directed by Robert Zemeckis, is about the first ruler of the Kingdom of Hawaii.

Variety explains:

“Kamehameha unified the Hawaiian Islands following a series of battles during the 1790s and took steps to ensure they remained a united realm after his death. Johnson had been eyeing the movie in recent years and decided to move forward on it.”

Randall Wallace wrote the script for this project, which is important because he also wrote Braveheart. His work on the film earned him a nomination for Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars.

There are lots of talented people working on this movie. Unfortunately, filming isn’t scheduled to begin until 2020, so we’ll be waiting a long time for this film.

But still, we’re looking forward to it because it might give Johnson a real chance to show off his acting skills.

Forbes Reveals Dwayne Johnson Is Highest Paid Actor In The Magazine’s 20 Year History

Dwayne Johnson started from the bottom and now he’s at the top. Back in 1995, after getting cut from the Canadian Football League, Johnson had just $7 in his wallet.

Fast forward 23 years later and Johnson is now the highest paid actor in Forbes magazine history. According to the publication, Johnson made a ridiculous $124 million last year, more than any actor ever on the Celebrity 100 list. He nearly doubled the $65 million he earned in the previous year.

Johnson reacted to the news on his Instagram account. You can check out his post below…

There’s a little motivation for you on this Wednesday afternoon. I currently have $0 in my wallet right now, so in 20 years, I’ll probably be even richer than Johnson! I CAN’T WAIT!

Gal Gadot Is Set To Star In Dwayne Johnson’s Upcoming Action-Comedy Film ‘Red Notice’

Say whaaat? Dwayne Johnson is making another action movie? Yes, it’s true. I know you’re shocked.

Johnson is teaming up with Universal again, along with writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber, for the upcoming action-comedy flick, Red Notice. In the movie, Johnson plays an “Interpol agent tasked with capturing the most-wanted art thief in the world.”

It’s being reported this week that Gal Gadot has joined the project. No word on how big her role will be, but we have to imagine she’ll get equal screen time with Johnson.

The movie is scheduled to start filming in April of 2019 and will be released inside a theater near you June 12, 2020.

Apparently, Johnson is getting paid $20 million to star in this movie, so we know the budget will at least be $20 million. Just for reference, ‘The Purge‘ was made on a $3 million budget.

But I mean…it makes sense. People love Johnson. He is one of the hottest action stars in Hollywood right now, so of course they’re going to throw the $$$ at him. His movies might not be original, but I guess that’s why the audience loves them.

Generic blockbusters that are entertaining enough to make you forget how crappy your life is.

John Cena Will Be Replacing Dwayne Johnson As Lead In ‘The Janson Directive’

John Cena and Dwayne Johnson have a lot in common. The main thing being that they’re both professional wrestlers who have successfully crossed over to the acting world. They are both legit actors now and their names alone add a lot of value to a film.

And now they’ll be working together…kinda. You see, Johnson was originally set to star as the lead in the upcoming adaptation of Robert Ludlum’s book The Janson Directive.

He recently dropped out of the role, due to his insanely busy schedule; however, he is still attached as a producer. And one of his first jobs as a producer? Find a new lead.

That’s where Cena enters. He has officially signed on to play the lead role in the film, and Johnson went on his Instagram account to congratulate him…

For those wondering, here is the official book synopsis…

“When billionaire philanthropist Peter Novak is kidnapped by a terrorist known as The Caliph, it’s up to Paul Janson, a legend in the notorious U.S. covert agency Consular Operations, to save him. But Janson’s rescue operation goes horribly wrong…and soon Janson is marked for death, the target of a ‘beyond salvage’ order issued from the highest level of the government. Now Janson is running for his life, pursued by Jessica Kincaid, a young agent of astonishing ability who can anticipate and counter his every move. To survive, Janson must outrace a conspiracy that has gone beyond the control of its originators. To win, he must counter it with a conspiracy of his own.”

‘A Quiet Place’ Settles For A Close Second Place At The Box Office As Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Rampage’ Takes The Top Spot

Many people thought (including me) that ‘A Quiet Place‘ would take the top spot at the box office for two weekends in a row, but it looks like Dwayne Johnson’s star power is stronger than we thought.

His video game adaptation ‘Rampage‘ is not exactly performing well with critics, but the audience is eating it right up. The film managed to just beat A Quiet Place at the box office this weekend.

Rampage earned $34.5 million and A Quiet Place came in at second with $32.9 million, but it’s still a win for the horror/thriller directed by John Krasinski. In fact, I’d say it’s the real winner of the weekend, ’cause it worked with a budget just under $20 million and it’s already made $100 million at the domestic box office.

Meanwhile, Rampage’s budget was reportedly $120 million, so it’s going to need to perform well overseas in order to make that back and more. And honestly, it probably will because the world is in love with The Rock.

Coming in third at the box office this weekend was Blumhouse’s ‘Truth or Dare,’ which earned an impressive $19 million. That’s not a bad opening at all for a film that was reportedly made for under $5 million.

Next weekend, ‘Super Troopers 2‘ and Amy Schumer’s comedy ‘I Feel Pretty‘ will be released. We’ll see if either of those titles can take down Rampage.

Dwayne Johnson Confirms He Is Working On ‘Jumanji’ Sequel As The First Film Becomes Sony’s Highest-Grossing Domestic Release

I have no problem admitting how hard I rolled my eyes when Sony announced it was making a Jumanji revival. I thought there would be no way they could touch the original film, and you know what? They did. It was just a slight touch with the tip of Kevin Hart’s tiny finger, but that’s more than I imagined.

Sony revealed this week that the Jumanji reboot, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, just became the studio’s highest-grossing domestic release ever. It made over $400 million at the domestic box office, passing 2002’s Spider-Man for the top spot. In total, it’s made close to $1 billion worldwide, and obviously everyone involved could not be happier…especially Dwayne Johnson.

Not only did he star in the film, but he was also one of the producers, and earlier today (April 11) on Instagram, he revealed that he’s busy working on a sequel right now.

No release date has been announced, but I’m thinking late 2019 or early 2020. We will keep you posted, of course.

Dwayne Johnson Comments On His Feud With Vin Diesel: “We Have a Fundamental Difference in Philosophies”

We all knew Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel had some beef between them. We knew it back in 2016 when Johnson went on his Instagram account and revealed he had a serious issue with the behavior of a certain co-star. He called this mysterious co-star unprofessional and a “candyass.”

It didn’t take long for people to figure out he was talking about Diesel. Sources on the set of Fate of the Furious claimed Johnson and Diesel got into a shouting match on set.

Well, during an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Johnson talked about the feud.

“That is correct. We were not in any scenes together. Vin and I had a few discussions, including an important face-to-face in my trailer. And what I came to realize is that we have a fundamental difference in philosophies on how we approach movie-making and collaborating. It took me some time, but I’m grateful for that clarify. Whether we work together again or not.”

Can you imagine a face-to-face with Johnson and Diesel? Jesus. I bet that sh*t was scary as hell. If there ever came a time in my life where I was forced to have a “face-to-face” with The Rock, I’d most likely wet myself. Multiple times.

By the way, Johnson also told the magazine that he may not appear in the ninth installment of the franchise, which is set to be released on April 10, 2020.

Dwayne Johnson Is Saving The World Once Again In New Trailer For ‘Rampage’ (VIDEO)

Dwayne Johnson plays the hero so well, doesn’t he? In almost every movie he’s been in, he saves the world from something. And he’s going to do it again in the upcoming ‘Rampage‘ action-flick put out by New Line Cinema.

The film is based on the classic video game of the same name, and it’ll feature three monsters who are creating widespread destruction across North America. Johnson is trying his best to stop them.

The first trailer for this movie was your typical action-flick trailer, but this new one is a bit better. It shows some humor and gives off the impression it might actually be a decent movie. In addition to Johnson, Rampage will star Malin Akerman, Naomie Harris, Jake Lacy and Joe Manganiello.

It’ll hit theaters April 20, 2018, check out the official synopsis and trailer below…

“Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry transforms this gentle ape into a raging monster. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered alpha predators. As these newly created monsters tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.”

So, Uh, The Early Reviews Are Coming In For ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ And They Are Surprisingly Positive

I have to be honest, I was not expecting much from the Jumanji reboot, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. It seemed like Hollywood’s latest attempt to take advantage of nostalgia. It also seemed like Hollywood’s latest attempt to randomly throw The Rock into a movie.

But you know what? I might have been wrong. The early reviews are coming in, and most of the critics have positive things to say. In fact, it’s difficult to find anything negative right now. Of course, these are just the early social media reactions from a handful of critics, so don’t get too excited yet.

However, it does look like the film has the potential to be a lot of fun…

I know. I’m shocked too. One thing I am happy to see is the amount of love Jack Black is getting. School of Rock is one of my favorite movies, so he will always hold a special place in my heart.

You can view the trailer for Jumanji below. It’s scheduled to hit theaters December 20, 2017.
