‘Deadpool 2’ Is Hoping To Land ‘John Wick’ Director David Leitch After Tim Miller Drops Out

Fans of ‘Deadpool‘ were pretty shocked last week when director Tim Miller announced he would not be returning for the Deadpool sequel. He reportedly dropped out due to “creative differences,” with the star of the film, Ryan Reynolds.

They had problems while filming the first movie, and while they temporarily worked things out, the same problems came up when they started developing the sequel.

So the search for a new director is on, and it looks like 20th Century Fox has decided on ‘John Wick‘ co-director, David Leitch. The rumors first started yesterday, thanks to this report from Mashable.

“Reynolds’ agency, WME, has been pushing the star (and the studio) to hire one of its own clients, and Leitch is at the top of that list, though one individual told Mashable that several other directors remain in the mix. There doesn’t appear to be an official offer on the table yet, but by most accounts, 20th Century Fox has found its man.”

There are other directors being interviewed, but it looks like the offer will go to Leitch. As the report states, Reynolds wants him and the studio wants to keep the star of the film happy.

For those wondering about the beef between Reynolds and Miller. Sources say Miller wanted to make this sequel into a huge superhero movie. He wanted to go bigger and reportedly asked for an outrageous budget.

Reynolds and the writers didn’t want to go that direction. They want to keep it small just like the original. Don’t fix something that ain’t broke.

By the way, no release date has been set for the film yet.

Ryan Reynolds Signs New Deal For ‘Deadpool’ Sequel, Filming Scheduled To Start This Fall!

One of the hottest films of the year just received some great news. Ryan Reynolds has successfully renegotiated his contract for the Deadpool sequel and filming could start as early as this fall.

As some of you may remember, The Hollywood Reporter revealed a few months ago that Reynolds received only $2 million upfront for Deadpool. And while $2 million sounds like a lot to us normal people, it’s really pocket change when you remember the film took home $754 million at the worldwide box office.

Because of the film’s success, Ryan’s agents wanted to get their client a new deal, and no one can really blame them.

According to Heroic Hollywood, that deal is done and they’re ready to move forward with the sequel. As mentioned above, filming is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2016. No release date has been confirmed, but most people believe it will be January 2018.

If you can’t wait until 2018 for more Deadpool, you can pick up the DVD/Blu-ray for the original film next month. It features a special unrated cut and a bonus after credit sequence.
