What Is Going On In Cars 3? We Finally Have Some Answers After That Traumatizing Trailer

Back in November, we shared the dark teaser trailer for Cars 3 with you all. It was a bit unsettling, especially for a franchise designed for kids. I mean, having that wreck involving McQueen inside the trailer was one thing, but making it the feature was really strange.

Well, now the director of the film, Brian Fee, is giving us more details about the upcoming sequel. Unfortunately, these details are making us more confused.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Fee explains that things aren’t the same for McQueen anymore in this new movie. He is being upstaged by a new generation of fast cars.

“McQueen is not the young hotshot anymore, the kid he was back then in Cars 1. He’s in the middle of his life, and as an athlete, that’s getting up there. You have your whole life ahead of you, yet your career is starting to show its age. He’s looking in the mirror and realizing, ‘I’m 40 years old,’ and dealing with the fact that the thing that you love more than anything else, you might not be able to do forever.”

That sounds incredibly depressing. We’re just going to watch McQueen waste away and drink himself into an early junkyard? And then we have to watch some d-bag named Jackson Storm take his place?

I don’t support this. I don’t want real life problems with my Pixar films. I want cookies, sunshine and laughs.
