In somewhat surprising news, Daniel Kaluuya will not be reprising his role in Marvel/Disney’s ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’
As most of you know, the 33-year-old actor played W’Kabi in the 2018 Black Panther film. He was the best friend and confidant to T’Challa, played wonderfully by Chadwick Boseman. According to insiders, Kaluuya was asked to return, but he had to decline due to scheduling issues.
Apparently, he had already agreed to star in Jordan Peele’s upcoming horror film, Nope, which is set to hit theaters on July 22, 2022.
Marvel fans don’t seem too pleased about this, but it appears they’re more upset with the production team behind Black Panther 2.
While plot details for the sequel haven’t been disclosed, Wakanda Forever has been discussed as a film that will continue to explore the world of Wakanda, in the absence of Boseman’s character, while paying tribute to the actor.
Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Martin Freeman and Winston Duke have all agreed to return. Production wrapped in March and it’s expected to be released on November 11, 2022.
But again, you won’t find Kaluuya in it.
