‘Star Wars’ Actress Daisy Ridley Stars In Upcoming Indie Flick ‘Sometimes I Think About Dying’

Daisy Ridley has worked on some pretty high budget movies, including multiple ‘Star Wars’ flicks and the 2021 film, Chaos Walking. If you put together those three budgets, you’re looking at over $700 million!

But the 29-year-old actress wanted a bit of a change recently. She just finished filming on an indie flick titled, Sometimes I Think About Dying.

The low budget film wrapped production in Oregon this month. In addition to starring in the movie, Ridley is also on board as a producer.

Based on play Killers by Armento as well as the short film Sometimes I Think About Dying, the film follows Fran who likes to think about dying. It brings sensation to her quiet life. When she makes the new guy at work laugh, it leads to more: a date, a slice of pie, a conversation, a spark. The only thing standing in their way is Fran herself.

Rachel Lambert directed the film. In addition to Ridley, this movie will star Dave Merheje, Meg Stalter and Bree Elrod, who recently put on a beautiful performance in Sean Baker’s ‘Red Rocket‘ movie.

No word on when the movie will be released, but we’re thinking sometime in 2022. It’ll be nice to see Ridley in a smaller film.

Daisy Ridley Clarifies Comments About Exiting ‘Star Wars’ Franchise After ‘Episode IX’

During an interview with Rolling Stone, Daisy Ridley said something that made Star Wars fans a little worried. She basically said that she feels as if Rey’s story is done after Star Wars: Episode IX.

“I am really, really excited to do the third thing and round it out, because ultimately, what I was signing on to was three films. So in my head, it’s three films. I think it will feel like the right time to round it out.”

Seems pretty clear, right? She signed up for three films, and she believes that the third film wraps up the chapter she signed up for. You can take this as her being over the franchise, or you can take it as her trying to avoid coming off as greedy. Most fans took it as her being done with the franchise.

But she talked to ComicBook.com recently to clear everything up…

“Misquoted. I was misquoted. I was asked — by the way, at the end of a very long day, at the end of a very long shoot — I was asked how I felt going forward. And I said, in my mind, the story finishes at Episode IX. To me, Star Wars is in threes. [Episodes] 4, 5, 6; 1, 2, 3; 7, 8, 9. So, for me, that’s what I was signing on to; VII, VIII, IX. So that’s really what I was answering. And I think, for now- I’m not saying forever. Obviously, Rey will always be Rey… and obviously I don’t know what happens in Episode IX, or even if I’m in it. But for now I think it would be- To me, IX was always the end of this chapter. So, it’s not me going ‘I don’t want to.’ It’s just that’s what I always pictured.”

Sounds reasonable to me. She’s not saying she is done with the franchise forever, she’s simply saying it would make sense for the franchise to move in a different direction following Episode IX.

Netflix Purchases Josh Gad’s “Super-Normal” Movie Project, Daisy Ridley And Luke Evans Set To Star

Netflix is taking a chance on Josh Gad and his “Super-Normal” movie project. They have picked up the rights to the film, which is set to star Gad, Daisy Ridley and Luke Evans.

The project is described as a “subversive take on the superhero genre.” The sibling writing team of Jordan and Aaron Kandell are attached to write the script, but it was Gad who came up with the original idea. This project is his baby, and he will be producing the film.

Gad has worked with both Ridley and Evans before. He starred in Murder on the Orient Express with Ridley and he worked with Evans on some film called Beauty and the Beast.

The Hollywood Reporter claims the project got a lot of interest from multiple studios…

“Super-Normal’s intent is to make a character-driven subversive take on the genre that Hollywood and the rest of the world loves too much. The package hit the town late October, generating instant interest and bids from Disney, among other studios.”

We will keep you posted as more information on this film is released. They are in the very early stages right now, so it might be a few months before we hear anything else.

The First Trailer For ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ Has Arrived, And You Do Not Want To Miss It!

20th Century Fox gave us all a little gift this week. The studio released the first trailer for the star-studded murder mystery film, Murder on the Orient Express.

The Agatha Christie adaptation was directed by Kenneth Branagh and was scripted by American Gods co-creator Michael Green. In addition to the wonderful directing and writing talent, the film is also packed with some A-list talent.

Michelle Pfeiffer, Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, Leslie Odom Jr., Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz and Josh Gad.

Sometimes, when a film features this many stars, it ends up being a huge disappointment. It’s kinda like building a super team in basketball. You can have all the talent money can buy, but they still have to perform well as a team.

Thankfully, it looks like the stars listed above did perform well as a team. The trailer has got me interested, which is a bit surprising because I wasn’t looking forward to watching this movie before.

You can check out the plot summary and the official trailer below. It’s scheduled to hit theaters November 10, 2017.

“Agatha Christie’s novel, published in 1934, is considered one of the most ingenious stories ever devised. The novel revolves around a murder on board the famous train. Belgian detective Hercule Poirot must solve the case, but there are a number of passengers who could potentially be the murderer. In addition to directing the film, Branagh, a five-time Academy Award®-nominee, will star as detective Hercule Poirot.”

So the trailer for the new Star Wars movie finally hit the interweb and I have to say people are surprised.  Surprised and impressed.  From the start to the finish the trailer draws you in and leaves you wanting more.

The first character we see is an intense faced John Boyega.  Right then you tell yourself that Boyega is perfectly cast.  Not too big of a star and he is known already from his Sci-fi role in 2011 ‘Attack the Block’ and he is immediately believable.  We see him rockin the familiar Stormtrooper outfit and from that point on, all you can think of in your mind is, “It’s on”.

Then you see Daisy Ridley swoop in, and quickly it cuts over to Oscar Isaac piloting an X-wing leading  the other X-wings into formation, then the scene quickly flashes to what appears to be at least one of the films villains yielding a light saber.

OMG!  At this point you forget about Disney, you forget about all of your J.J. Abrams worries and your Star Wars senses are on overload.  You can’t handle anymore.  That’s when you see the Millennium Falcon swoop in and you hear the John Williams’’ classic Star Wars theme…….then your head explodes, or you applaud.  Or your head explodes while you are applauding.

For now the score is, Disney and JJ one, cynical doubting fans 0.  But this is just the first battle.  The scary part is there is so much more to come.   Enjoy the tease.
