‘Magic Mike XXL’ Was Extremely Popular With The Ladies, Breaking Record Set By ‘Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants’

According to CinemaScore, women love traveling pants, but they love the situation going on inside Channing Tatum’s pants even more. Magic Mike XXL had a record 96% turnout for females this holiday weekend. This beats Sisterhood Of The The Traveling Pants (94%) and Sex And The City 2 (90%).

Sadly, the record female turnout didn’t produce a huge opening for the film. During its first five days, the Magic Mike sequel took in just $26.6 million. And over $25 million of that total came from women wanting to see Tatum work his magic on stage. That’s an insane number. I think Conan O’Brien was the only man who actually watched the movie.

Despite the disappointing opening, the film will still make a decent profit. Reports say the production budget was just $14.8 million, so the film has already doubled its costs when you look at the $32.8 million worldwide gross.

The first film made $39 million during its first three days and finished with an impressive $167 million worldwide. Obviously the sequel won’t touch those numbers, but you can’t say it wasn’t successful. It’s already made a profit, and the women who watched the movie absolutely loved it. Audiences hit it with an A- CinemaScore, which is a better grade than the first film.

Not bad, Channing.

He’s Baaack! Channing Tatum Stars In Brand New ‘Magic Mike XXL’ Trailer! (VIDEO)

Ladies, men who are attracted to other men, and dudes who can just appreciate a great physique; this is the trailer you have all been waiting for. Channing Tatum stopped by the Ellen Show today to premiere the first trailer for Magic Mike XXL.

And we have to admit, the beginning of this trailer is pretty smooth. Starting off with just Tatum inside his garage, dancing to the 1996 classic ‘Pony‘ by Ginuwine. After the tame start, all shirts are off for the rest of the trailer. Abs, pecs, biceps…

The Magic Mike sequel was directed by Gregory Jacobs. Joe Manganiello, Gabriel Iglesias and Matt Bomer have all returned for the follow-up. Michael Strahan, Amber Heard and Jada Pinkett Smith will be joining the film, which follows the group of male strippers as they return for a mind-blowing final performance in South Carolina.

Just like the original, this film looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. You can check out the trailer down below. Magic Mike XXL will open in a theater near you July 1, 2015.

10 Actors Who Were Badly Injured While Filming

People say actors don’t deserve all the money they receive. Millions of dollars just to appear on camera for a few weeks? It’s not fair!

But it’s not that simple. Yeah, we pay our athletes and entertainers too much money; however let’s not pretend like they have the easiest job in the world. Actors work extremely hard to produce quality entertainment, and sometimes their passion gets them in some serious trouble.

The 10 actors you see down below definitely earned their ridiculous paychecks.

No. 10 – Joseph Gordon-Levitt

While filming the 2012 thriller Premium Rush, Joseph Gordon-Levitt had a little accident while riding his bike around New York City. The actor told Celebuzz that a diplomat is to blame for the nasty cut on his arm, which required 31 stitches.

“A diplomat broke through our lock-up. You know, in New York City, you have the United Nations. There’s diplomats driving around, and they can break the law. So, he broke through our cones and went past the cops and double parked right where we were shooting. Basically, I ended up going through the rear window of a taxi cab.”

Joseph is a true actor, though. Instead of going down to the ground in pain, he asked the director of the film to shoot video of his injury, “I was stoked that they actually put it in (the movie).” He said.

No. 9 – Charlize Theron

Looking back at it now, Charlize Theron probably regrets agreeing to star in 2005’s massive flop, Aeon Flux. The film lost nearly $10 million after only taking in $52 million worldwide. Critics hated it, fans hated it and it was nominated for a few Razzies.

But we can’t blame the failure on Charlize Theron. She gave this movie her all, and ended up with a pretty serious neck injury. While performing a series of back handsprings, she slipped and landed on her neck. She was hospitalized for five days after suffering nerve damage, “It was numb on the right side of my body.” Theron told reporters. Production was shut down for two months while she recovered.

No. 8 – Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum’s gruesome injury wasn’t life-threatening; however we have to imagine it was probably one of the most painful injuries on this list. The 34-year-old actor was in Scotland filming a scene for the 2011 film The Eagle, and during the scene his character had to wade through freezing water in a wetsuit. Between takes, the crew would warm Tatum up by pouring a mix of boiling water and river water down his wetsuit.

After the last shot of the day, a crew member asked the actor if he wanted to warm up before he left the set for the day…

“I’m like, Nah, I’m good. And then I thought, Why not? Thing is, he’d forgotten to dilute the kettle water. So he poured scalding water down my suit. And I was trying to pull the suit away from my body to somehow get away from the boiling water, and the more I pulled the suit away, the lower the water went. It just went straight down and pretty much burned the skin off the head of my dick.”

Yeah. He suffered some serious burns to his penis. He was rushed to the hospital (which was an hour away) and they loaded him up with morphine once he arrived. Thankfully, everything healed up eventually, but Tatum claims it was the most painful thing he has ever experienced.

No. 7 – Jason Statham

Jason Statham’s co-stars say it was the actor’s professional diving experience that helped him get out of a scary situation while filming The Expendables 3. Statham was driving a three-ton truck when the brakes went out, which resulted in a 60-foot plunge into the Black Sea.

“Luckily we had taken the doors off before.”  Stallone told reporters. But he added that if anyone else was behind the wheel, they probably would have died…

“If anyone else had been in that truck we would have been dead because we were all wearing heavy boots and gun belts. We would have drowned. But because Jason is an Olympic-quality diver he got out of it.”

No. 6 – Bruce Willis

Most of the injuries you see on this list only caused temporary discomfort, but Bruce Willis suffered permanent damage while filming the first Die Hard. The director of the film, John McTiernan, had extra-loud blanks to make the film feel and sound as real as possible. It worked out great for the movie, but it ended up causing permanent hearing loss for poor Bruce.

“I suffer two-thirds partial hearing loss in my left ear and have a tendency to say, ‘Whaaa?'” He revealed during a Q&A session with The Guardian.

This may explain why he’s so freaking grumpy all the time.

No. 5 – Jaimie Alexander

During an interview with the New York Post, Jaimie Alexander explained just how bad the injury she suffered on the London set of Thor: Dark World really was.

“It was raining, it was dark outside, it was like 5 in the morning — and I went down a metal staircase and slipped and slipped a disc in my thoracic spine and chipped 11 of my vertebrae… I knocked my left shoulder out of place and tore my rhomboid on my right side . . . It took me out of filming for a month.”

No. 4 – Jackie Chan

Oh, Jackie Chan. He has injured himself several times while performing stunts for his movies, but his worst injury happened on the set of the 1986 film, Armour of God. During the filming of the opening sequence, Jackie was asked to jump from a castle wall to a tree branch. He successfully completed the jump on the first take, but he wasn’t pleased with the result, so he decided to perform the stunt again.

During his second attempt, the tree branch broke and Chan fell 25 feet to the ground. His head slammed against a rock on the ground, which cracked his skull and forced a piece of bone up into his brain. He was flown to the hospital and was in surgery for over eight hours. Decades later, he still has a hole in his head filled with a little plastic plug “to keep (his) brains in.”

No. 3 – Halle Berry

The extremely talented actress wasn’t even performing a stunt when she broke her arm on the set of Gothika. The accident took place right in the middle of the film’s nine-week shoot in Canada. Berry was filming a scene which required her to put up a fight against a doctor (Robert Downey Jr.) who was trying to pin her to a cot. She apparently got really into the scene because she resisted his grip with so much force that she broke her ulna.

“I knew that it was broken instantly and Robert knew it, too, because he heard the [ulna] snap.” The actress revealed. She impressed her co-stars by returning to the set just three weeks later.

No. 2 – George Clooney

The pain George Clooney suffered after his injury on the set of Syriana was so severe that it actually made him contemplate suicide. While filming an intense scene for the film, Clooney severely injured his spine. The constant pain from the accident was too much for the actor.

He told Rolling Stone the following…

“I was at a point where I thought, ‘I can’t exist like this. I can’t actually live.’ I was lying in a hospital bed with an IV in my arm, unable to move, having these headaches where it feels like you’re having a stroke, and for a short three-week period, I started to think, ‘I may have to do something drastic about this.'”

Thankfully, he eventually had successful surgery to fix the painful injury.

No. 1 – Sylvester Stallone

Stallone wanted everything to be completely realistic while filming the original punching scenes between his character Rocky and Dolph Lundgren’s character Drago. Every punch landed was real, and at one point, Stallone asked Dolph to really try to knock him out. The incredibly strong punch to Stallone’s chest slammed his heart against his breastbone, which caused his heart to swell.

He went to the emergency room later in the day because he had trouble breathing. Once inside the hospital, Stallone realized just how serious the injury was. His blood pressure was over 200 and he was forced to stay in intensive care for nine days. If he hadn’t went to the hospital that night, doctors say his heart would have likely stopped.

Olympian Mark Schultz Is Apologizing After Blasting ‘Foxcatcher’ Director Bennett Miller

Bennett Miller’s Foxcatcher is filled with over two hours of drama, and now that drama has leaked outside of the film, thanks to Olympic wrestling legend Mark Schultz. Channing Tatum plays Schultz in the film, but it’s not Tatum’s performance that has Mark flipping out on Twitter.

On New Year’s Eve, Schultz went completely nuts on his Twitter account, slamming the movie and the director Bennett Miller. You can check out some of his most interesting tweets in the screenshots down below…

And while some people wondered if Mark’s account had been hacked, it’s now clear that was not the case. Mark went on his public Facebook page yesterday to apologize for his harsh language in the tweets, but not for the message behind them.

“My story and my life are real. I am a real human being. While I may have tweeted out of anger, I in no way regret standing up for myself, nor do I regret calling out the only other man who has had decision making power concerning my image and legacy these past years. I apologize for the harshness of my language, but I am firm in where I stand. I will gladly go to any lengths to protect and safeguard the integrity and truth of my story, my life, my character and my legacy. If that’s not worth fighting over while I’m still alive, I don’t know what is.”

So, why is he so freakin’ angry? Because there was a scene in the film were Miller seemed to suggest a possible sexual realtionship between Schultz and his former coach John du Pont. He wrote that it was a “sickening and insulting lie” and claimed he told Miller to cut the scene.

“I told Bennett Miller to cut that scene out and he said it was to give the audience the feeling that duPont was encroaching on your privacy and personal space. I wasn’t explicit so I didn’t have a problem with it. Then after reading 3 or 4 reviews interpreting it sexually, and jeopardizing my legacy, they need to have a press conference to clear the air, or I will.”

Before Foxcatcher was released, Schultz had only positive things to say about the film. It appears that he’s only angry now because of how some people are interpreting the scene in question.

What do we have to say about that?

Sony Hack Reveals More Craziness: Ghostbusters 3 Starring Channing Tatum And Chris Pratt?

Leaked emails from Sony have dumped a wealth of information all over the entertainment world. Some of the information has been disturbing and even borderline racist, and some of the information has been mind-blowing. Thankfully, we are going to talk about the latter today.

In another round of leaked emails, TheDailyBeast has uncovered ambitious plans to create a spin-off Ghostbusters film starring Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt. This would come as a surprising addition to the already planned all-women reboot of the classic film. Mr. Tatum appears to be the driving force behind this insane idea.

Back in August, Tatum sent the (now famous) Amy Pascal the following email…

“Let us show the world The DarkSide and let us fight it with all the glory and epicness of a HUGE BATMAN BEGINS MOVIE. I know we can make this a huge franchise. Fun adventure craziness. COME OONNNN!!!”

You can tell it was written by Channing Tatum because of the RANDOM capitalization and the exclamation marks. After Tatum sent his email, Hannah Minghella, co-president of production for Columbia Pictures, sent out another email to explain the plan in more detail.

“So… in a curious turn of events – the Russos and Channing want to develop Ghostbusters as a vehicle for Channing and Chris Pratt to do together…The Russos, Channing and Reid have been brainstorming ideas and want to create a whole new mythology that would support multiple movies (the way that Nolan reinvented Batman). To be clear – the Russos want to produce (not direct) and while Channing and Chris are looking for a movie to do together they haven’t mentioned this to him yet because they weren’t sure how we’d react. They want to make it simultaneously super scary while also super funny.”

The ‘Reid’ mentioned in the email above is Reid Carolin, Channing Tatum’s producing partner. And the ‘Russos’ mentioned are, of course, Joe and Anthony Russo. The directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The Sony execs who received the email all seemed excited about the project, with Amy Pascal writing, “f-ckkkk.” Because that’s just how Amy rolls apparently. In addition to this strange news, we also learned that Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, Melissa McCarthy, Lizzy Caplan and Amy Schumer have all shown interest in the all-female reboot. The leaked emails also revealed that Ryan Gosling wants to take the lead male role in the film.

This is too much information for me to process right now. It will be interesting to see how much of this actually happens. I mean, it’s not often we get an inside look like this. For all we know, studios and actors throw around crazy ideas like candy. Just because they discussed something in an email conversation back in August, doesn’t mean they are planning on filming tomorrow. From the conversation above, it doesn’t even look like Chris Pratt knew about the idea yet.

What if he’s just now learning about Tatum’s idea with the rest of us?

Movie Review: Foxcatcher (2014) – An excellent psychological exploration of Du Pont.

Steve Carrell seems to have a gift for picking the right movies. Whether he’s doing a romantic comedy, a drama, or a straight out quirky comedy, he seems to know what films work. When I saw that he’d recently starred in a dark drama, I had my misgivings. I mean, he’s an excellent comedic actor, but that doesn’t always carry over to straight drama. I have to say though; he knew what he was doing when he picked this script.

Foxcatcher is based on true events from a criminal case in the late 1990s. It circles around the story of John E DuPont (Steve Carrell) and his mother Jean (Vanessa Redgrave) and their complex, codependent relationship. Two ambitious pro-wrestler brothers Mark and Dave (Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo) catch DuPont’s eye and he attempts to ride their coattails to glory. When DuPont offers Mark $25,000 to train at his facility, Mark readily agrees while brother Dave elects to stay at home. This drives a wedge between the two brothers that leads to a tragic outcome.

The movie is well set up and this is no inspirational sports story. Please note that this next paragraph is a spoiler if you weren’t paying attention to the news in 1996.  (Since it’s based on a true story then it should be no surprise but I figured I would warn you anyway)

[toggle title=”Spoiler Alert”]In 1996, the real John DuPont shot and killed Dave Shultz, for reasons that are still unknown, in full view of three witnesses. He was initially found incompetent to stand trial, but was later convicted of murder, though his sentence was commuted due to the fact that he was also considered mentally ill and not fully responsible for his actions.[/toggle]

One of the things that makes this movie so well done is the way Steve Carrel managed to completely embody the character he was playing. Du Pont was known to be awkward and uncomfortable in social situations. His initial friendship with Mark is painful to watch, as the two speak in almost stilted dialog with lots of awkward silences.

Carrel also makes du Pont’s motivations for ‘adopting’ the wrestling brothers sketchy and a bit sinister. In a way, he views these brothers in the same way his overbearing mother views her horses. They’re a way to buy prestige without having to work for it.

Another excellent note on the movie is the way they allude to the possibility that du Pont had some homosexual leanings, without actually admitting to them or him making any kind of pass. For much of the movie, you’re torn over why du Pont is drawn to the young, handsome Mark. Is he in love with him, or is it because he thinks he can ride on Mark’s championship coattails?

While the movie tries to stay true to the events leading up to the major headlines of 1996, it’s not to be considered a crime story. It’s more a look into a man that is “slightly off”, extremely insecure and his journey to be taken seriously; A root for the underdog movie that  goes wrong.

I think this movie is an excellent psychological exploration of du Pont’s character and motives. It’s clear the producers did their homework. While the movie is not very fast moving and gets a bit sluggish at times, it’s still incredibly well done.

This is not a sports movie for people who are desperate for edge of your seat, beating the odds, stories. This is more of a psychological drama along the lines of Bull Durham. The movie is more about the characters than it is the sport and at the top of our list on the Oscar’s watch.

Must Watch: Steve Carell’s Creepiness Hits All Time High In New ‘Foxcatcher’ Trailer

Just when you thought Steve Carell couldn’t get any creepier. The new teaser trailer (seen down below) for the upcoming Bennett Miller film Foxcatcher does an incredible job of showcasing Carell’s range as an actor.

The film, which is based on a true story, also stars Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo. As we mentioned in a previous post, experts already believe there are a few Oscar-winning performances in this film. It received outstanding reviews at the Cannes Film Festival back in May. We will have to wait until November 14 to check out the highly anticipated film.

“I am leading men, I am training them, I am teaching them, I am giving them a dream and I am giving America hope.” Carell’s character John du Pont says in the unnerving trailer below.

(Creepiest smile I have ever seen comes in at 0:54)

First Patriotic U.S. Poster Release for Channing Tatum’s Movie ‘Foxcatcher’.

People magazine released the first movie poster of Channing Tatum’s latest film ‘Foxcatcher’.

Although the online buzz is that the poster sucks – I think it’s I-ight.  The film was premiered at this year’s Cannes film festival and had glowing reviews so I was surprised to hear that the poster was not well liked.

A French Teaser poster was released earlier this year and now we are seeing the first US marketing poster.  Personally I kind of like it, it’s better than “i-ight”.  Just in time for the 4th of July, the poster shows a menacing Channing Tatum in front of a worn, well saluted American flag back drop….and yes the US will compete in the world cup today as well.  Maybe that’s why this poster works for me, I’m filling up with American pride…..*sniff*, *sniff*

Foxcatcher will show us the serious sides of not only Channing Tatum but also Steve Carell.  Carell plays millionaire DuPont in the film and if both Carell and Tatum appear to look weird it’s because they are both wearing prosthetic make up.

In an interview with People magazine Tatum said that this was not a fun movie,

“It was not a fun experience at all, It was grueling, and it was painful, but it was worth it.”

[toggle title=”OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS”]FOXCATCHER is a psychological drama directed by Academy Award nominee Bennett Miller (MONEYBALL) and starring Golden Globe winner Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Academy Award nominee Mark Ruffalo, Academy Award winner Vanessa Redgrave and Sienna Miller. The film was written by E. Max Frye and Academy Award nominee Dan Futterman. FOXCATCHER tells the story of Olympic Gold Medal-winning wrestler Mark Schultz (Tatum), who sees a way out from the shadow of his more celebrated wrestling brother Dave (Ruffalo) and a life of poverty when he is summoned by eccentric multi-millionaire John du Pont (Carell) to move onto his estate and train for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Desperate to gain the respect of his disapproving mother, du Pont begins “coaching” a world-class athletic team and, in the process, lures Mark into dangerous habits, breaks his confidence and drives him into a self-destructive spiral. Based on actual events, FOXCATCHER is a gripping and profoundly American story of fragile men who pinned their hopes for love and redemption on a desperate obsession for greatness that was to end in tragedy. Movie Review: 22 Jump Street (2014)

MST 29JUN2014 - 1Just as good, if not better, than the Original.

Star Ratings

This week at the theater, sequels rule the box office. As I was a fan of the first updated version of 21 Jump Street, I elected to check out the sequel.

22 Jump Street takes off directly after the boys have graduated high school (for the second time). This time around they are heading off to go undercover at a local college. Schmidt (Jonah Hill) gets involved in the Bohemian Art scene while Jenko (Channing Tatum) meets a kindred spirit on the football team. Thanks to those different paths, the guys start to wonder if their partnership is the best partnership for them. While the two start to grow apart, they also have to uncover a drug ring without blowing their covers.

I’ll be honest; this movie is the exact same script as the first time around. Only the scenery changes. But that didn’t stop it from working. Clever one liners, snappy dialog and endearing characters make this just as funny as the original.

Hill still has that magical, self-depreciating humor and dead pan delivery. Tatum plays buffoonery like it’s an art form.

MST 29JUN2014 - 2

In the first edition, some of the best parts came at the car chases. This second time around is no exception and the car chases still have that fantastic cartoonish quality that makes them both hilarious and suspenseful.

Capt. Dickson (Ice Cube) is back and running things out of a Vietnamese church this time. Expect some fantastic back and forth between the boy’s antics and Ice Cube’s perpetually pissed take on the character. What I like is that all the characters are fully aware of how similar the story line is to the first one and they don’t shy away from that. In fact, Capt. Dickson goes as far as to tell the characters to do ‘the exact same thing you did last time’.

This rendition goes deeper into the relationship between Schmidt and Jenko, even going as far as to send the duo to couples therapy. There is much bro love and bro jealousy in this film and it is played off well by Tatum and Hill, thanks to their incredible chemistry.

Dare I say it? Hill and Tatum could possibly be the next Hollywood it couple.

MST 29JUN2014 - 5

MST 29JUN2014 - 3

There are some clever female love interests in the movie, but they really take a back seat to the couple that is Hill and Tatum. These two are so endearing it’s impossible to not root for them.

If you were a fan of the original, then you will not be let down by 22 Jump Street. This sequel is just as good, if not better, than the original. As long as they keep the dialog fantastic and the gags hilarious, I’d have no problem going to watch 23 Jump Street or any other sequel they decide to make, no matter how many times they keep the same story line.

If you are looking for a great comedy, even if you’ve never seen 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street is absolutely worth the watch.  Watch the official trailer below:

22 Jump Street: Red Band Trailer and Movie Poster Release

maxresdefault 22a

When Hollywood takes an 80’s TV series, turns it into a slapstick buddy comedy and banks hard, what do they do next?  They do it again.  The first 21 Jump Street which was released in 2012, was made for $42 million and took in $138 million in the domestic box office.  That is easy money.  Even if the movie does half as good as the first one, that is still good money with very little risk.  Not to mention both Tatum and Jonah Hill’s stars have risen substantially since the first release.

Adequately titled “22 Jump Street” (why take any chances??) the new film will be released on June 23rd.  Kudos to Columbia for getting this done and getting it to market quickly.  Timing on this one will be everything.  Say what you want, but the trailer looks pretty damn funny.

[toggle title=”OFFICIAL MOVIE SYNOPSIS”]After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.[/toggle]
