Letitia Wright Injured On Set While Filming ‘Black Panther 2’

Ryan Coogler has been hard at work directing the cast of the upcoming ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ since June. Most of the filming has went down in Atlanta, but for at least a couple of scenes, they moved to Boston.

They were filming in Boston last night (August 24) when one of the stars, Letitia Wright, was reportedly injured and transported to the hospital.

According to the statement released, the injuries were minor and she was expected to be released soon. Insiders also claim the injury will not impact the rest of the shoot.

She was apparently filming a stunt when the injury occurred. It’s not exactly clear what went wrong, but we’re sure it’ll make for some good press coverage when the film gets closer to its release.

In the first ‘Black Panther’ movie, Wright was introduced as Shuri, the genius inventor and younger sister to T’Challa, played by the late Chadwick Boseman. She also appeared in the MCU team-up films ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame.’

This sequel is expected to hit theaters next summer on July 8, 2022. The first film made over $1 billion at the box office against a budget of $200 million.

Michael B. Jordan Writes Touching Tribute To Co-Star Chadwick Boseman

The world lost a truly wonderful soul last Friday in Chadwick Boseman. The ‘Black Panther’ star privately battled colon cancer for four years. He was just 43-years-old.

Several celebrities have paid tribute to Boseman, including ‘Black Panther’ director, Ryan Coogler. If you haven’t read his tribute, click on this link to check it out.

This past weekend, Michael B. Jordan wrote his own tribute. Jordan co-starred in ‘Black Panther’ alongside Boseman. Jordan played the villain, Erik Killmonger.

The two actors knew each other long before they shared the screen together. In a 2018 Howard University commencement speech, Boseman said he turned down a role on ‘All My Children’ early in his career because of the stereotypical depiction of the character. Coincidentally, Jordan ended up being recast in the role when he was 16.

In Jordan’s tribute, he writes that he wishes he had more time with Boseman.

I’ve been trying to find the words, but nothing comes close to how I feel. I’ve been reflecting on every moment, every conversation, every laugh, every disagreement, every hug…everything. I wish we had more time.

Everything you’ve given the world … the legends and heroes that you’ve shown us we are … will live on forever. But the thing that hurts the most is that I now understand how much of a legend and hero YOU are.

It’s an incredibly touching tribute, and you should read the whole thing below…

I’ve been trying to find the words, but nothing comes close to how I feel. I’ve been reflecting on every moment, every conversation, every laugh, every disagreement, every hug…everything. I wish we had more time. One of the last times we spoke, you said we were forever linked , and now the truth of that means more to me than ever. Since nearly the beginning of my career, starting with All My Children when I was 16 years old you paved the way for me. You showed me how to be better, honor purpose, and create legacy. And whether you’ve known it or not…I’ve been watching, learning and constantly motivated by your greatness. I wish we had more time. Everything you’ve given the world … the legends and heroes that you’ve shown us we are … will live on forever. But the thing that hurts the most is that I now understand how much of a legend and hero YOU are. Through it all, you never lost sight of what you loved most. You cared about your family , your friends, your craft, your spirit. You cared about the kids, the community, our culture and humanity. You cared about me. You are my big brother, but I never fully got a chance to tell you, or to truly give you your flowers while you were here. I wish we had more time. I'm more aware now than ever that time is short with people we love and admire. I’m gonna miss your honesty, your generosity, your sense of humor, and incredible gifts. I’ll miss the gift of sharing space with you in scenes. I’m dedicating the rest of my days to live the way you did. With grace, courage, and no regrets. “Is this your king!?” Yes . he . is!  Rest In Power Brother.

The 2019 Oscar Nominations Are Here: Black Panther, Roma and The Favourite Lead Nominations

It’s the day you have all been waiting for. The 2019 Oscar nominations were announced this morning and the cast & crew behind Roma, The Favourite, and Black Panther are probably celebrating in their pajamas right now.

Both Roma and The Favourite are tied for most nominations with ten each. Black Panther made history as the first superhero film to ever be nominated for Best Picture. BlacKkKlansman also earned a Best Picture nomination, along with A Star Is Born, Vice, Green Book and Bohemian Rhapsody.

There are no true surprises here. It all looks pretty standard. I suppose it’s a little surprising that Ethan Hawke was not nominated for his performance in ‘First Reformed,’ but he’s been vocal about how silly awards are in the past, so that might have rubbed the Academy the wrong way.

And if you’re looking for another surprise, ‘If Beale Street Could Talk‘ did not get a Best Picture nomination and Barry Jenkins was not nominated for Best Directing. He did get a nom for Best Adapted Screenplay, though…so there is that.

‘Black Panther’ Star Chadwick Boseman Has A New Project Lined Up Titled ’17 Bridges’

After the great success of ‘Black Panther,’ the door is wide open for Chadwick Boseman in Hollywood. He can do whatever he wants at this point.

It was reported this week that the 40-year-old actor’s next project will be the action-thriller ‘17 Bridges,‘ which is being distributed by STXfilms. Not only will he star in the movie, he’ll also act as a producer alongside Joe and Anthony Russo.

There was a bidding war for this script back in 2016. STXfilms reportedly beat out Universal, Sony and Warner Bros. Brian Kirk (Game of Thrones) has signed a deal to direct.

The story follows a disgraced NYPD detective (Boseman) who, after being pushed into a citywide manhunt for a cop killer, is given a shot at redemption.

Sounds interesting enough, right? There is certainly a lot of talented people working on this movie. It’s scheduled to begin production in September. We will keep you posted as more casting news becomes available.

‘Black Panther’ Crosses $1 Billion Mark Worldwide, Is Top At The Box Office For Four Weeks Straight

A week before ‘Black Panther‘ was released, we knew it was going to perform well at the box office, but no one expected it would be performing THIS well.

For the fourth week straight, the Marvel superhero film was at the top of the box office. It made $41.1 million at the domestic box office, which was nearly $10 million more than the premiere of A Wrinkle in Time, which brought home just $33.3 million during its opening weekend.

In addition to the $41.1 million total here in the states, Black Panther opened in China and took home $66.5 million, which is a pretty solid opening. In total, the film has made over $500 million in the U.S., and over $1 billion worldwide.

“The massive box office haul only adds to the impressive set of records that the film has already shattered: the largest February debut of all time (beating Deadpool), the second largest Marvel debut (after The Avengers), and the highest grossing film by a black director.”

Will it be able to get five straight wins at the box office next weekend? It’s possible, but I have a feeling Tomb Raider will take the top spot. Black Panther’s total will probably fall to the $30 million mark or below, and I believe Tomb Raider will at least bring home $30 million.

As Expected, ‘Black Panther’ Has Huge Second Weekend At The Box Office, Get The Numbers Inside!

Black Panther‘ smashed almost every record in the book last weekend with its huge $235 million opening. It was a huge moment in movie history, and it’s truly the start of something new.

Black Panther’s second week at the box office was just as impressive as its first. The Marvel flick took home $108 million during its second weekend inside theaters, which is the second-highest second weekend ever behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

In total, the film has earned over $400 million domestically in its first 10 days at the box office. It’s grossed an additional $304 million internationally. It was made on a $200 million budget, so it’s safe to say this movie has already been a huge success for the studio. It could stop making money right now and still be a success.

“‘Black Panther’ continues to elevate the month of February to summer-style blockbuster status with a second weekend that represents only the third time that a film has posted a $100 million plus weekend performance during the month (behind only its $202 million debut and ‘Deadpool’s’ $132 million opening in 2016). And with a North American cume through Sunday of $400 million, it is the highest grossing film ever released in the month after just 10 days in theaters beating the long-standing $370.3 million record held by 2004’s ‘The Passion of The Christ.’”

Yeah, Black Panther just beat Jesus.

Movie Theater In Atlanta Accidentally Plays ‘Fifty Shades Freed’ Instead Of ‘Black Panther,’ And The Crowd’s Reaction Is Hilarious (VIDEO)

A theater in Atlanta made a huge mistake this past weekend by playing the first 5-10 minutes of Fifty Shades Freed instead of Marvel’s smash hit Black Panther.

The incident went down at Regal’s Atlantic Station theater in Atlanta. A packed theater was ready to watch a screening of Black Panther, but once the trailers came to an end, Fifty Shades Freed started playing.

And as you can see from the videos below, the crowd was not happy. Some people were booing, other people were laughing, and we have to imagine a few people were throwing popcorn at the screen. Or maybe not, that sh*t is expensive.

Thankfully the mistake was corrected 5-10 minutes later, but we have to imagine it felt a lot longer than that. Fifty Shades Freed is currently rocking an 11% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which means 5 minutes of the film probably feels more like 30.

By the way, Black Panther killed it this weekend. It’s set to earn $235 million in its opening four-day weekend.

‘Black Panther’ Might Hit $235 Million During Its Holiday Weekend Opening, Check Out The Insane Numbers Inside!

We told you last week that Marvel’s ‘Black Panther‘ film was set to break a lot of records at the box office. We told you that the $165 million estimates were probably too low, and we were correct.

According to a report from Variety, Black Panther is heading to a ridiculous $235 million opening over the four-day President’s Day weekend. We knew the numbers were going to be huge on Thursday night when it brought home $25.2 million, the largest Thursday night preview gross for a film opening in February, and the second-largest preview gross for a Marvel film.

On Sunday, it became clear that the film would easily break the $200 million mark. Check this out, it made $60.1 million just on Sunday. That’s the second best Sunday in industry history!

“With 73% of schools closed, Black Panther business should decline 45% from Sunday for a $33 million Monday and $235 million four-day debut.

Black Panther has also pushed the 2018 year to date domestic gross up 6.9% to $1.65 billion, according to comScore. It is the highest three-day debut ever for a February film and the fifth highest of all time behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens at $248 million, Star Wars: The Last Jedi at $220 million, Jurassic World at $208.8 million and The Avengers at $207.4 million.”

That is pretty damn incredible. This film is not finished breaking records. It’s going to be at the top of the box office for the next few weeks. We’re just going to sit back and watch the numbers climb.

Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ Is Set To Smash All Kinds Of Records At The Box Office

Marvel’s ‘Black Panther‘ film is set to hit theaters this weekend, and it’s expected to smash every box office record for the month of February. The film, which currently has a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, is set to make history during this upcoming Presidents Day weekend.

If the experts at tracking are correct, Black Panther will take home around $165 million at the box office during its opening weekend, and if that incredible number is correct, it’ll beat Deadpool’s February record of $152.2 million.

The Hollywood Reporter goes deeper:

“A $165 million-plus opening would also be one of the top five or six domestic openings ever for a superhero film, not accounting for inflation. Some box-observers believe $165 million is too low an estimate.

When Black Panther first came on tracking two weeks ago, market leader NRG forecast a domestic opening of $125 million. By last week, that number had shot up to $150 million-plus. On Tuesday, it was revised upwards to $165 million-plus.”

You know what this means, right? The $165 million is probably too low. We could be looking at $180 million opening…I’M JUST SAYING! WATCH HOW HIGH THIS SH*T GOES.

Those numbers coming in next week are going to be super interesting. This could be huge.

Michael B. Jordan Reveals The Diet/Workout For The ‘Creed’ Movies Is Ruining His Social Life

You think actors have it easy? Okay, they kinda do, but that doesn’t mean they don’t also work hard. Michael B. Jordan has basically been on a strict diet for the past few years of his life. It all started with Creed in 2015, and then straight from Creed, Jordan had to maintain his physique for Black Panther.

The 30-year-old actor was on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week to promote Black Panther, and during the interview, he revealed that his diet/workout is severely impacting his social life.

“Do you know how often you have to use the bathroom when you’re drinking a gallon, especially in the middle of the night. It’s hard to go out to a club or a party when you’re like, ‘Oh, wait! Meal prep! We gotta go pop this thing in the microwave and eat food,’ It’s tough to socialize when you gotta get in shape like that.”

The bad news for him? He’s not getting a break anytime soon. Production on Creed II will start in April, which means Jordan has no time to get lazy. In fact, he revealed he was headed to the gym right after the interview with Ellen.

“As soon as I leave here, I’m going to the gym,” he told Ellen. That’s when she asked him if he’d ever consider playing a “lazy” character who does nothing at all besides gain weight. Jordan laughed and said, “Imma work on that.”

By the way, you can watch Jordan in Black Panther starting February 16, 2018. Buy a ticket…THE DUDE HAS BEEN WORKING HIS BUTT OFF.
