A hot package is hitting the Cannes market next week. According to a report from Deadline, Jacob Elordi, Barry Keoghan and Rosamund Pike will star in Emerald Fennell’s upcoming film, Saltburn.
For those who don’t know, Fennell is an award-winning filmmaker. She most recently wrote/directed Promising Young Woman, which was released in 2020 to rave reviews. The movie actually won Best Original Screenplay at the 93rd Academy Awards.
And now, Fennell will follow up that masterpiece with this upcoming ‘Saltburn’ flick. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources say it deals with obsession. So perhaps either Elordi or Keoghan are obsessing over Pike? Some sort of thriller?
MRC will take the package to the Cannes market next week, and it is expected to be one of the hotter properties on the market. The pic will be produced by Fennell and LuckyChap Entertainment’s Josey McNamara, Tom Ackerley and Margot Robbie.
Filming is expected to begin this summer in the UK, which means a 2023 release date is likely. It should be a film to watch. No doubt about it.
Does the name Bart Layton mean anything to you? Maybe. He was the director behind the gripping documentary ‘The Imposter,’ which was released back in 2012. The doc was extremely successful, and thanks to streaming sites like Netflix, people are still discovering it six years after its release.
Layton is ready to amaze us once again, but this time he’s making his narrative feature debut. ‘American Animals‘ is a crime thriller that has been receiving a lot of love from those who watched it at Sundance. The Orchard and MoviePass purchased distribution rights to the film for a cool $3 million.
IndieWire tells us a little more about the true story behind the movie…
“‘American Animals’ is based on the true story of four teenagers in Lexington, Kentucky who tried to strike it rich by pulling of a $10 million heist. Keoghan and ‘American Horror Story’ favorite Peters play the two friends at the center of the heist. The plan was to break into a local college’s special collections library and steal valuable books, including Audubon’s prized ‘Birds of America,’ but the mission didn’t go according to plan.”
As mentioned above, Evan Peters and Barry Keoghan star in the movie, which is enough to get us excited. You can check out the trailer below. It’s scheduled to hit theaters June 1, 2018.
I am both excited and terrified to watch this movie. The Killing of a Sacred Deer looks like one of those movies that will linger with you for days. The film stars Colin Farrell as a successful surgeon with a nice house and perfect family, but when an odd boy (played by Dunkirk’sBarry Keoghan) enters his life, everything starts to go to sh*t.
People who have already watched this movie have made some pretty grand claims. They’re saying it’s the most f**ked up movie of the year, and that’s more than enough to get me excited.
Don’t worry about this second trailer spoiling anything for you, they’re doing a great job of keeping the contents of this film a secret, and that’s the way it should be. Don’t go searching for more details. You don’t need them.
Watch the trailer below, and then check out the film when it hits theaters October 20, 2017.
