Craig Robinson, Andy Samberg And Common Set To Star In Comedy Film ‘Super High’

How would you like another movie about weed? It’s been a minute since we’ve had a good weed movie. Obviously Pineapple Express comes to mind, but that was way back in 2008, if you can believe that.

But never fear, we have a new stoner comedy coming your way, and it’s set to star Andy Samberg, Craig Robinson and Common.

Super High is being described as a superhero movie where smoking a special strain of weed gives superpowers to the smoker.
Adam Mansbach will write the screenplay based on a story he created with Shamier Anderson. New Line won a bidding war for the project.

It’s an interesting next move for Mansbach. His debut screenplay was ‘Barry‘ which followed Barack Obama’s life at Columbia University.

We don’t know when this film is set to enter production. IMDBPro has it listed as “in development” at the moment.

We’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available. For now, you’ll be able to catch Craig Robinson in the upcoming film ‘Songbird’ which was filmed during quarantine. It’s set to be released in 2021.

Meanwhile Andy Samberg is busy filming season 8 of Brooklyn Nine=Nine.

Watch The First Trailer For Andy Samberg Comedy ‘Palm Springs’

Earlier this year we told you that Andy Samberg’s upcoming comedy ‘Palm Springs‘ scored a record deal at the Sundance Film Festival. Neon/Hulu purchased the movie for over $17 million, making it one of the biggest deals in Sundance history.

The movie, which also stars Cristin Milioti, was scheduled to premiere inside theaters this summer, but instead it’ll be released on Hulu directly on July 10, thanks to the ongoing pandemic.

At first glance, this movie seems a lot like Groundhog Day, but according to some of the reviews from critics, this movie is taking a slightly different approach. We won’t give anything away though.

Hulu released the first trailer this week, so you can watch it below. It certainly doesn’t look something that would bring in such a massive deal at Sundance, but hey…maybe the trailer is holding back on us.

Check it out below…

Andy Samberg plays a character named Nyles who is stuck in a time loop in Palm Springs where he relives the day of his girlfriend’s best friend’s wedding. He meets the bride’s sister, Sarah (Cristin Milioti), at the wedding.and after a night of fun with her she ends up following him into a strange cave that causes the time loop and she gets stuck in the time loop with Nyles.

Andy Samberg’s Romantic Comedy ‘Palm Springs’ Will Debut On Hulu In July

Earlier this year, we told you that Andy Samberg’s rom-com ‘Palm Springs‘ was a massive hit at the Sundance Film Festival. The audience loved the movie, and Hulu/Neon purchased the film for an insane price.

It was the biggest sale in the festival’s history, reportedly going for $17.5 million. Although, reports later suggested it ended up being closer to $22 million.

Hulu was expected to bring the film to theaters, but thanks to the coronavirus, they’re changing things a bit. They plan to release the film on their streaming service on July 10. It’ll also be released inside some drive-in theaters.

It’s a bit of a surprising move, given how much Hulu paid for the movie. But I suppose they have watched other studios have success with these on demand releases, so they figured, “Why not?’

Plus Samberg is still insanely popular online, so his audience will be a perfect test.

According to early reviews, this film features a “different take” on the Groundhog Day concept.

Sounds interesting enough for me. I’m really excited for this film. Hopefully it doesn’t disappoint.

Mockumentary Film ‘Tour De Pharmacy’ Releases First Trailer Starring Andy Samberg And Orlando Bloom

HBO has released the first trailer for Tour de Pharmacy, a spoof of the doping scandals that have plagued professional biking for several years.

This film stars Andy Samberg, Orlando Bloom, Will Forte, Daveed Diggs, and features performances by Mike Tyson, John Cena and Chris Webber.

It was written by Murray Miller and directed by Jake Szymanski. They previously teamed up together to create the outrageous tennis comedy 7 Days in Hell. The comedy starred Samberg and Kit Harington as two tennis rivals who battled it out in a match that lasted seven days.

Tour de Pharmacy will premiere on HBO July 8 at 10pm. You can check out the official synopsis and trailer below…

“In 1982, during a dark and fictitious time in cycling history, the sport’s most venerable, time-honored race was marred by the doping of virtually all of its competitors. Riddled with nefarious characters, that year’s competition was a hornet’s nest of moral depravity. Through the perspective of five riders, TOUR DE PHARMACY gives an inside look into the grim realities of the darkest event in a sport notoriously tainted by controversy.”

The Lonely Island group consists of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer. They actually formed the group back in 2000 in California. Five years later, they were hired by Saturday Night Live, and were able to produce hits like “Jizz in My Pants” and “I’m on a Boat“.

So, what the heck is this movie going to be about? We’re not exactly sure. We know the film is being co-directed by Schaffer and Taccone, and we know Sarah Silverman has joined the project. She will be playing a “sharp and sarcastic” publicist who works with the character being played by Samberg.

“Not to be hyperbolic, but we are seriously zazzed about this movie.” The band said in a statement. Apatow released his own statement, revealing how excited he is…

“I have begged these fine gentlemen to allow me to produce one of their films since day one, and finally they decided my whining needed to come to an end.”

Universal will be distributing the untitled film. No release date has been announced, but we’re assuming the movie will hit theaters in 2016.
