It’s Official: Jimmy Kimmel Will Return To Host The 2018 Oscars!

The Oscars love to play it safe, and they will continue that tradition in 2018. Jimmy Kimmel will return to host the 2018 Oscars.

It will be an even bigger event this time because the show will be celebrating its 90th anniversary. This will be Kimmel’s second consecutive year hosting the Oscars. He will reunite with producers Jennifer Todd and Michael De Luca.

And he could not be more thrilled about it…

“Hosting the Oscars was a highlight of my career and I am grateful to Cheryl [Boone Isaacs], Dawn [Hudson] and the Academy for asking me to return to work with two of my favorite people, Mike De Luca and Jennifer Todd. If you think we screwed up the ending this year, wait until you see what we have planned for the 90th anniversary show!”

Of course, the “screw up” he is talking about in his statement is the shocking ending to the 2017 Oscars, which featured a mix-up involving the Best Picture announcement. You’ll remember that La La Land was originally called to the stage to accept the award before it was revealed Moonlight was the actual winner.

And honestly, that huge goof might be what convinced the Oscars to bring Kimmel back. He handled the stressful situation like a pro and even managed to throw in a Matt Damon joke.

Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment, had this to say about Kimmel’s return…

“After just one year, we can’t imagine anyone else hosting The Oscars. Jimmy’s skillful command of the stage is invaluable on a night when anything can happen – and does. With Mike and Jennifer at the helm, we’re ready for another unforgettable show that will dazzle, delight and, most importantly, honor 90 years of Hollywood’s most prestigious award.”
