Julia Louis-Dreyfus Set To Star In The Upcoming A24 Fairytale Story ‘Tuesday’

The plot details around the upcoming A24 film ‘Tuesday‘ are being kept under wraps, but we do know it’s being described as a “mother-daughter fairytale,” which honestly doesn’t tell us much. This is A24 we’re talking about here. Their version of a fairytale might be entirely different than yours.

In any event, it looks like the “mother” in the movie will be played by the always lovely Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

It was reported this week that the 60-year-old actress will star in the movie. Irish actress Lola Petticrew will also star and play Julia’s daughter.

BBC Film is co-financing the film with A24, alongside BFI awarding funds from the National Lottery, and Cinereach. The project was developed with BBC Film, BFI, and Gingerbread Pictures.

Along with A24, producers include Ivana MacKinnon for Wild Swim Films, Helen Gladders for Gingerbread Pictures and Oliver Roskill for Record Player Films.

Daina O. Pusic will be directing this flick, which will mark her feature film directorial debut. She first made a name for herself when her short film ‘The Beast’ premiered at Telluride Film Festival in 2015.

No word on when filming is set to begin, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on this project.

Check Out Dev Patel In The Upcoming A24 Medieval Fantasy, The Green Knight

A24 might be known more for their horror films and indie darlings, but their latest project is a little different.

Dev Patel stars in the upcoming medieval fantasy story, The Green Knight. The movie, which was directed by David Lowery, stars Patel as Sir Gawain, King Arthur’s nephew.

It was originally supposed to premiere at the 2020 South by Southwest festival, but it was pushed back due to the pandemic.

Joining Patel in the movie is Alicia Vikander, Sean Harris and Joel Edgerton.

Based on the 14th-century poem ‘Sir Gawain and the Green Knight,’ Gawain will come face-to-face with ghosts, giants, thieves and schemers, all while learning to define his own character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and the kingdom.

This is the first fantasy-adventure film A24 has released, so you know they’re hoping for a huge win here.

The Green Knight is set to hit theaters on July 30, 2021. Check out the trailer below…

Watch The Wild Trailer For A24 Film ‘Zola’ Based On Twitter Thread

We all know Hollywood loves to turn popular books into films, but did you know they’re also looking at viral Twitter threads as well?

You may remember the wild 148-part Twitter thread by Aziah “Zola” Wells King. Her (mostly) true story of two women on a nightmarish road trip in Florida captured the world’s attention.

The Twitter thread inspired the article ‘Zola Tells All: The Real Story Behind the Greatest Stripper Saga Ever Tweeted,’ written by journalist David Kushner.

With the Twitter thread and the article to work on, Hollywood turned this story into a script, and now it’s a legit movie.

The film was directed by Janicza Bravo, and it stars Taylour Paige (Zola) and Riley Keough (Stefani)

Zola (Taylour Paige), a Detroit waitress, strikes up a new friendship with a customer, Stefani (Riley Keough), who seduces her to join a weekend of dancing and partying in Florida. What at first seems like a glamorous trip full of ‘hoeism’ rapidly transforms into a 48-hour journey involving a nameless pimp, an idiot boyfriend, some Tampa gangsters and other unexpected adventures in this wild, see-it-to-believe-it tale.

In addition to Paige and Keough, this film also stars the always lovely Nicholas Braun and Colman Domingo.

It’s expected to hit theaters sometime this summer. Check out the crazy trailer below…

Ilana Glazer’s A24 Pregnancy Thriller ‘False Positive’ Gets June Release Date On Hulu

You probably remember Ilana Glazer for her brilliant performance in the hilarious Comedy Central series, Broad City. She was absolutely perfect in the series, and now she’s taking her talents to the land of features.

She recently filmed a thriller titled ‘False Positive’ alongside Justin Theroux, Sophia Bush and Pierce Brosnan.

The A24 film, which was directed/co-written by John Lee, focuses on a couple struggling with fertility and the seemingly perfect doctor who wants to help them achieve their dreams of becoming parents.

After months of trying and failing to get pregnant, Lucy (Ilana Glazer) and Adrian (Justin Theroux) finally find their dream fertility doctor in the illustrious Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan). But after becoming pregnant with a healthy baby girl, Lucy begins to notice something sinister through Hindle’s gleaming charm, and she sets out to uncover the unsettling truth about him, and her own birth story.

Sounds intriguing enough, yeah? The thriller flick is expected to drop on Hulu on June 25, 2021.

A trailer has not been released, but we have to imagine it’s coming soon, considering they just dropped the first images from the film.

The First Trailer For A24 Film ‘Minari’ Starring Steven Yeun Has Arrived

Steven Yeun, best known for his work on The Walking Dead, is getting the leading role he deserves in the upcoming A24 film, Minari.

The film was a huge hit at the Sundance Film Festival. Several critics said it was their favorite movie of the year.

Minari was written/directed by Lee Isaac Chung. Inspired by his own childhood, the script tells the story of a Korean-American family that moves to a small town in Arkansas in search for better opportunities.

The cast, which includes Steven Yeun, Yeri Han, Alan Kim, Noel Kate Cho, Yuh-Jung Youn and Will Patton, is one of the year’s finest. A possible contender for the SAG cast ensemble prize, the A24 film started its run from Park City, Utah very strong.

No release date for the movie has been released, but sources say A24 plans to release it before the Academy Awards’ Feb. 28, 2021 eligibility deadline. They plan to push hard for nominations, including a Best Actor nom for Yeun and Best Director for Chung.

The Talented Safdie Brothers Sign First-Look Deal With HBO

If you don’t know who the Safdie Brothers are, then well, what have you been doing with your life? Finding a good job? Starting a family? Taking care of an elderly relative? NONE OF THAT MATTERS!

The Safdie Brothers are incredibly talented, and you need to watch their movies, specifically Good Time and Uncut Gems. Their style might not be for everyone, but if it is for you, get ready to fall in love.

Anyway, their focus has been mostly in film, but that might be changing soon. It’s being reported that the brothers, Josh and Benny, have entered a two-year first-look deal with HBO.

Variety reported that duo and Elara Pictures, which the brothers co-founded with Sebastian Bear-McClard and Ronald Bronstein in 2014, will produce film and television projects for the platform.

A24 will executive produce all projects under the deal. The terms of this deal have not been disclosed, but you can bet it’s lucrative for all parties involved.

It’ll be interesting to see how the brothers tackle the TV world. They create such intense environments inside their films. I can’t imagine that amount of energy pumping through 12 episodes of television.

So far, HBO has not commented on the deal. We’ll keep you posted.

Joaquin Phoenix Teaming Up With A24 For What Sounds Like An Indie Coming-Of-Age Flick?

Joaquin Phoenix is probably exhausted right now after a wildly successful awards season run. His performance in ‘Joker‘ earned him the Best Actor award at the Oscars.

How will he follow up such an incredible performance? Well, he’s working with A24.

He apparently just wrapped production on an indie flick with 20th Century Women filmmaker, Mike Mills. In the untitled drama, Phoenix reportedly plays an artist left to take care of his precocious young nephew in a cross-country road trip.

In addition to Phoenix, the movie stars Gaby Hoffman, Woody Norman and Kenneth Kynt Bryan.

Producers are Chelsea Barnard (Booksmart), Lila Yacoub (Eighth Grade) and Andrea Longacre-White (20th Century Women). Robbie Ryan (The Favourite) is DoP. We hear a script is due to be sent out to buyers this week.

According to some reports, Peter Jackson’s WETA Digital is creating special/visual effects for the movie, which is a bit odd. It sounds like a pretty straightforward indie flick. Why the need for visual effects? Perhaps there is more to this story.

They’re hoping to release the film by the end of the year.
