Paramount Hires Jeff Nichols To Write/Direct New Film Based In ‘A Quiet Place’ Universe

The 2018 horror/thriller ‘A Quiet Place‘ was a huge hit for Paramount. The movie was loved by critics and the general audience, bringing in over $340 million at the box office on just a $20 million budget.

As most of you know, the studio already set up a sequel, A Quiet Place Part II. The film was supposed to hit theaters this year, but due to the pandemic, it was pushed back until April 2021.

And now we are learning that there is going to be a third film in the franchise. This new movie will be written/directed by Jeff Nichols, based on an original idea by John Krasinski, who of course directed both the original film and the sequel.

They are keeping details of the new plot under wraps, but I would not be surprised if this was not a straight sequel, but rather broadened the world that the original introduced, plopping viewers in a post-apocalyptic world where survivors are struggling to stay alive by being quiet, as monsters with ultra sensitive hearing hunt them.

That’s the idea here. This version will probably not follow the cast of characters we know from the original film. Instead, it’ll likely be told in the same timeline, but following a completely different family.

Maybe this film will focus on the early early days of the invasion. After all, the first movie just placed you right inside the world, which is fine…but sometimes you want to explore the world a little.

According to the report. this third film is scheduled to be released sometime in 2022.

We’ll keep you posted.

John Krasinski Just Revealed He’s Writing The Script For ‘A Quiet Place 2’

A Quiet Place‘ was one of the best surprise hits of the year. It was released back in April of 2018 and took home over $330 million at the box office. Critics loved it, the audience loved it and most importantly the studio loved it because it made them a bunch of money.

And now they’re ready for a sequel. The director of the movie, John Krasinski, originally said he didn’t want to be involved in the sequel. He thought it’d be just a one-time experience.

But then a little idea for a possible sequel popped in his head, and as the studio listened to pitches from several writing teams, Krasinski let this idea build up inside him and eventually he had to let it out.

“I had this small idea for a sequel, but I didn’t think it would go anywhere. So, I said to the studio, ‘Just go do the movie with somebody else.’ They heard some pitches, and I told Drew about this little idea. And he told me to think about it a little longer. And then I thought, ‘This might really work.’ So, I’m currently writing the sequel.”

So there you go, Big Tuna is coming back for the sequel and we’re sure the studio is thrilled. Just being able to add his name to the movie again is huge.

The sequel is expected to be released inside theaters May 15, 2020.

‘A Quiet Place’ Moves Back To The Top Spot At Box Office While ‘Super Troopers 2’ Has Solid Opening

It was another great weekend for John Krasinski. The actor/filmmaker’s horror masterpiece A Quiet Place was back at the top of the box office once again. As you all know, it opened to a number one finish, but then dropped to second in its second weekend at the box office.

In its third weekend, it came out on top. It brought home $22 million, which was just enough to beat ‘Rampage‘ at $21 million.

Amy Schumer’s comedy ‘I Feel Pretty‘ made $16.2 million and ‘Super Troopers 2‘ earned $14.1 million, which might sound low, but that’s actually a really good number for the low-budget comedy.

Most experts had the sequel making around $7 or $8 million during its opening weekend, so to earn over $14 million is a huge success and it proved to the studios that the Broken Lizard team can still bring home the bacon. I mean, they were just $2 million away from beating a major blockbuster comedy featuring Amy Schumer. That’s definitely a win in my book.

Of course, none of these films will be at the top of the box office next weekend. ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ will be released on Thursday (April 26) and you can bet it’s going to make LOTS of money. We’re just going to watch to see how high the number climbs.

‘A Quiet Place’ Settles For A Close Second Place At The Box Office As Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Rampage’ Takes The Top Spot

Many people thought (including me) that ‘A Quiet Place‘ would take the top spot at the box office for two weekends in a row, but it looks like Dwayne Johnson’s star power is stronger than we thought.

His video game adaptation ‘Rampage‘ is not exactly performing well with critics, but the audience is eating it right up. The film managed to just beat A Quiet Place at the box office this weekend.

Rampage earned $34.5 million and A Quiet Place came in at second with $32.9 million, but it’s still a win for the horror/thriller directed by John Krasinski. In fact, I’d say it’s the real winner of the weekend, ’cause it worked with a budget just under $20 million and it’s already made $100 million at the domestic box office.

Meanwhile, Rampage’s budget was reportedly $120 million, so it’s going to need to perform well overseas in order to make that back and more. And honestly, it probably will because the world is in love with The Rock.

Coming in third at the box office this weekend was Blumhouse’s ‘Truth or Dare,’ which earned an impressive $19 million. That’s not a bad opening at all for a film that was reportedly made for under $5 million.

Next weekend, ‘Super Troopers 2‘ and Amy Schumer’s comedy ‘I Feel Pretty‘ will be released. We’ll see if either of those titles can take down Rampage.

‘A Quiet Place’ Has Massive Opening, Beats Predictions By More Than $20 Million

Last week we told you that John Krasinski’sA Quiet Place‘ made over $5 million in its opening Thursday night previews, which set it up nicely to make at least $30 million during its opening weekend as the experts predicted.

Well, we’re happy to report that the horror/thriller smashed the predictions. It earned $50.3 million this past weekend in just over 3,500 theaters across the country. That’s a huge number. It’s the second highest domestic opening of the year behind ‘Black Panther.’

The budget for this movie was around $17 million, so it’s already made it back and more. A lot more. We figured the movie would perform well at the box office, thanks to the great reviews from critics and word of mouth from the general audience. I went to watch the film on Thursday night and it was incredible.

Krasinski, Emily Blunt and the young actors who played their kids in the movie did a wonderful job. It made me jump out of my seat and cry, and those aren’t things I typically do while watching a film.

If you haven’t watch A Quiet Place, I strongly suggest you do. I don’t think you’ll regret it. By the way, Steven Spielberg’sReady Player One‘ came in second at $25 million and the blockbuster comedy ‘Blockers‘ (which is surprisingly hilarious) made $21.4 million.

It was a great weekend for Hollywood.

‘A Quiet Place’ Has A Very Nice Thursday Night Opening At The Box Office

What did you do last night? Well, if you are a cool person, you probably went to watch ‘A Quiet Place‘ on its Thursday night opening. I did and I must say I enjoyed it a lot. It has a little bit of something for everyone. If you simply want your horror films to make you jump out of your seat, this movie will certainly do the trick.

And if you want a little something more from horror films, like a decent story and characters you actually care about, this movie delivers on that as well.

A Quiet Place opened in just over 2,700 theaters on Thursday night (it’ll expand to over 3,000 on Friday) and it took home $4.3 million. That’s one of the best showings for a genre horror title. It beat titles like Annabelle: Creation and Insidious.

According to the experts, the film will probably finish the weekend with around $25 million, but I believe it’ll be closer to $30 million. It has great reviews from critics and word of mouth from the general audience should boost the opening weekend numbers.

If you are free tonight (or any night this weekend) I encourage you to go watch this movie. There were people curled up in balls of fear during the screening I went to.

You can watch the trailer below, if you want. I suggest you avoid it, though. It’ll only make the experience better.

The Final Trailer For ‘A Quiet Place’ Has Been Released, You Need To Watch This Movie! (VIDEO)

Are you ready for what might be the best horror film of the year? A Quiet Place released its final trailer today just days before its release on April 6, 2018.

The talented actor (and now filmmaker) John Krasinski wrote/directed and stars in this horror-thriller film. His wife, Emily Blunt, also stars. The movie features a family of four trying to navigate their lives in silence after dangerous creatures that hunt by sound surround their land.

A Quiet Place currently has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. 38 fresh reviews and 0 rotten. Some critics are calling it the best horror movie in years.

Brian Tallerico from RogerEbert.com wrote the following:

“A tight thrill ride-the kind of movie that quickens the heart rate and plays with the expectations of the audience, while never treating them like idiots. In other words, it’s a really good horror movie.”

You can check out the final trailer below, and then get ready to watch the movie this weekend. It opens on Friday, but some theaters will be playing screenings on Thursday night, so be looking out for that.

Must Watch Trailer: John Krasinski And Emily Blunt Star In Horror-Thriller ‘A Quiet Place’

Remember Jim from The Office? Well, he’s all grown up now and is a legit director in Hollywood. John Krasinski has directed The Hollars and Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, and his third film titled ‘A Quiet Place‘ looks to be his best yet.

Krasinski co-stars in the film with his wife Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds. The horror-thriller appears to have a pretty simple plot: a family who lives out in the woods must remain silent, or else they risk being hunted by the unknown.

Sound plays such a crucial role in horror films, so to start off with no sound, and to have the audience waiting for that first mistake by the family, is pretty brilliant. The teaser trailer below sucked me in right from the start.

A Quiet Place will hit theaters April 6, 2018, and I am really excited for it after watching the trailer. I know it won’t be, but I wish this was the only trailer they released. I have a feeling the others will show too much.

John Krasinski Will Write, Direct And Star In Supernatural Thriller With His Wife Emily Blunt

John Krasinski is going to be a busy man this year. The 37-year-old actor, best known for his role as Jim in The Office, will be writing, directing and starring in a supernatural thriller titled A Quiet Place.

And to make things more stressful, his wife Emily Blunt will be co-starring with him, so he’ll have to direct his wife…the mother of his children.

The good news is that Krasinski has some directing experience now. He directed the comedy-drama film The Hollars, which had its world premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. It received mixed reviews from critics, mostly because it didn’t offer anything new to the “indie dramedy” market.

Michael Bay will reportedly be a producer on the film, and it’s scheduled to go into production this fall. Not much else is known at this time, but we will keep you posted as more information is released.

It’s going to be really neat to see how this movie turns out, and to see how Blunt and Krasinski work together.

By the way, if the Michael Bay connection sounds strange to you, it’s not. Bay and Krasinski have developed a strong work relationship. John starred in Bay’s 2016 film 13 hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi and they’re also teaming up together for the new Amazon/Paramount series, Jack Ryan.
