Steven Spielberg’s Upcoming Semi-Autobiographical Drama ‘The Fabelmans’ Sets Thanksgiving 2022 Release

It looks like Thanksgiving 2022 will be an exciting time at the theater for Steven Spielberg fans. It was announced this week that the legendary filmmaker’s coming-of-age semi-autobiographical drama ‘The Fabelmans‘ will be released on Thanksgiving week in 2022.

The official release date is set for November 23, which is the day before Thanksgiving. If this release date holds, it’ll go up against an untitled animation project from Disney. It’ll also still be dealing with the aftermath from Marvel’s upcoming ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ film, which will be released two weeks prior.

The semi-autobiographical ‘The Fabelmans’ takes place in Arizona, where Spielberg spent his formative years, and stars Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, Paul Dano and newcomer Gabriel LaBelle. Plot details have been kept under wraps, but ‘The Fabelmans’ is said to dramatize the developmental experiences of a movie-lover who eventually became the most commercially successful director in modern times.

Williams and Dano are expected to play the role of Spielberg’s parents, while Rogen’s character will be inspired by Spielberg’s favorite uncle.

Spielberg directed this flick and co-wrote the script with playwright Tony Kushner. The pair just recently teamed up together for the big-screen adaptation of West Side Story, which hits theaters this weekend.
