It’s all good news for Disney and the incredibly successful Star Wars franchise. We all knew Star Wars: The Force Awakens was going to break records at the box office, but we didn’t know it would take the records and absolutely smash them Conor McGregor-style.
Check out this amazing fact. The film hasn’t even been released yet, and it’s already the 25th highest-grossing movie domestically of 2015. That’s all thanks to the advance ticket sales, which have now jumped over the $100 million mark. The previous record holder was The Dark Knight Rises at a paltry $25 million. Even with the early success, Disney is trying their best to pooh-pooh all over the “record-breaking” projections.
But we think it’s time they open their arms and just accept the madness, because Star Wars 7 just got the last thing it needed to guarantee its special place in history: approval from the critics.
The early reactions from critics have been mostly positive, as you can see by the (spoiler free) tweets below…
Just how much money could this film take home? It’s too early to say, but there are some experts who believe it will see the biggest opening weekend in box office history.
We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, have fun watching Star Wars 7 this weekend. Don’t expect to find an empty seat.
