What has been the highest grossing movie of the year so far? Bad Boys for Life. The comedy-action sequel was released back in January and has made over $200 million in North America.
It’s one of the only success stories of 2020, and it’ll likely remain that way at least until August or September.
Typically, studios won’t release new films on digital until they’ve been inside the theater for 90+ days.
But thanks to the coronavirus, studios are releasing films online a little earlier than expected. It was announced today that Bad Boys for Life will be released on demand starting March 31. It’ll then be available to buy on 4k Ultra HD and Blu-ray on April 21.
Of course, this isn’t the only film to get an early release. Disney-Pixar did the same thing with Onward. Several other studios are following in their footsteps.
By the way, to get a full list of movies that are now available to rent, you can check out Amazon’s new section titled Prime Video Cinema.
Movies currently offered through the hub include Onward, The Hunt, The Invisible Man and Emma, although Onward is only available at the $18.49 purchase price, while the others are only available for rental at that same reduced price. They’ll be available to rent for 48 hours.
