Remember the 2012 supernatural horror film Sinister? The film premiered at the SXSW festival and surprised a lot of people with its success. It received a 63% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and grossed over $80 million on a budget of just $3 million.
You know what that means, right? Sequel time! And even though most horror sequels are terrible, I was a little excited for this one.
But my excitement level has dropped after seeing the first full-length trailer for Sinister 2. The trailer is filled with awful jump scares.
I will still check out the film when it hits theaters August 21, but I won’t be walking in there with high hopes.
You can check out the official synopsis and trailer below…
“The sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit horror movie. In the aftermath of the shocking events in “Sinister,” a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon of “Wayward Pines”) and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life twins Robert and Dartanian Sloan) find themselves in a rural house marked for death as the evil spirit of Bughuul continues to spread with frightening intensity.”
