Shia LaBeouf’s ‘The Tax Collector’ Brings In Over $300k At Box Office

Well, we finally have some box office news! The Shia LaBeouf-starring film, The Tax Collector, debuted in 219 theaters across the United States.

Some were traditional theaters while others were drive-ins. In total, the movie made around $317,000. Next weekend, the film will open in even more theaters.

There are currently 1,195 movie theater locations open in North America, and of those, 229 are drive-ins.

On premium video-on-demand services, ‘The Tax Collector’ ranked among the top purchases on many platforms, including Google, iTunes, Amazon and FandangoNow, with reports that it pulled in around $1 million in VOD sales.

That’s not a bad debut during these coronavirus times; however, according to IMDB, this film had a $30 million budget. So you have to think they’re hoping for a long run inside theaters to make some of that back.

As for the reviews of the film? Not great. It sits at a 22 score on Metacritic, but it does have a 6.3 audience score. It’s worth noting that not a lot of reviews have come in, so it might be a case of small sample size.
