It looks like Scarlett Johansson will finally be making some serious cash in the Marvel franchise. She has appeared in six movies as Black Widow and hasn’t received a HUGE paycheck yet.
But that’s about to change. According to multiple sources, the 33-year-old actress will be receiving a $15 million paycheck for the upcoming stand-alone film centered on her character.
“Marvel typically doesn’t open up its wallet for first outings — Robert Downey Jr. included, as he took home only $500,000 for the first Iron Man. Johansson pulled down a low-seven figure salary for the first Avengers movie in 2012 (compared to Downey’s $50 million) after making her debut in 2010’s Iron Man 2. Still, Chadwick Boseman nabbed a seven-figure paycheck to star in Black Panther ($2 million, according to sources, which well tops Downey’s first showing). “
It’s clear they’re giving her more money because she’s already co-starred in several movies. It’s her time to get a solo feature, and we’re sure she demanded this huge payday.
This is why actors take on these superhero roles. I mean, it certainly can’t be for the ~art~ of it all. It’s not exactly their most challenging roles, at least not mentally. They join these franchises because they know if they do, they’ll most likely be set for life.
And you know what? We can’t really blame them. Get that money, ScarJo!
