The Goldene Kamera film and television awards are a pretty big deal in Germany. It’s a major award show over there and celebrities fly from Hollywood to Germany to show up and accept their awards.

And during the show, Ryan Gosling was set to appear on behalf of La La Land. He was going to accept the trophy for the movie. Steven Gaetjen, the host of the show, pumped up the actor’s appearance in a big way.

He told the crowd:

“The directors couldn’t be here today, but someone else agreed to take the award and we are very happy that he is here today, because he is the reason this movie is a success. One of the hottest stars in Hollywood … Here is the one and only Ryan Gosling!”

But the man who came out was not Ryan Gosling. It was an impostor who only slightly resembled the actor. He grabbed the trophy and spoke directly to the confused crowd:

“Good evening, I am Ryan Gosling. I dedicate this award to Joko and Klaas, thank you very much. There is a saying in Hamburg, which is, ‘bye, bye!’”

Who are Joko and Klaas? They are the two comedians who set this prank up. Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf.

Check out the video below to see how they pulled it off…
