Most of you probably only know Robert Pattinson from the Twilight franchise, but much like his co-star in those films Kristen Stewart, he’s more than a cheap, vampire actor.
He’s got serious skills, and the 31-year-old actor is ready to show them off in the A24 crime drama, Good Time. In the movie, Pattinson plays a robber who finds himself desperate for cash when a botched robbery puts his younger brother in prison.
The events in the film take place in just one night on the streets of New York City. In addition to Pattinson, Good Time also stars Barkhad Abdi and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last month and received mostly positive reviews from critics. It currently sits at a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
It’s scheduled to be released in theaters on August 11, 2017. You check out the official synopsis and trailer below…
“After a botched bank robbery lands his younger brother in prison, Constantine Nikas (Robert Pattinson) embarks on a twisted odyssey through the city’s underworld in an increasingly desperate—and dangerous—attempt to get his brother out of jail. Over the course of one adrenalized night, Constantine finds himself on a mad descent into violence and mayhem as he races against the clock to save his brother and himself, knowing their lives hang in the balance.
Anchored by a career-defining performance from Robert Pattinson, GOOD TIME is a psychotic symphony of propulsive intensity crafted by two of the most exciting young directors working today. Josh and Benny Safdie’s transcendent vision is an intoxicating portrait of desperation and destruction that will not be soon forgotten.”
