Are you excited to watch Robert Downey Jr. in what might be the worst trailer of the year? Of course you are!
The first trailer for ‘Dolittle’ was released this past weekend, and it has everyone a little confused. If you grew up in the ’90s, then you probably remember the family-friendly film, Dr. Dolittle. The comedy starred Eddie Murphy as Dr. Dolittle, a man who finds out he can speak to animals.
The film was inspired by the series of children’s stories of the same name by Hugh Lofting, but used no material from any of the novels.
The film received mixed reviews from critics, but was a hit at the box office, making nearly $300 million worldwide.
Now some 21 years later, the story of Dolittle is returning to theaters, but in a much more dramatic way. Robert Downey Jr. stars in this new film, and he’ll be joined by a bunch of A-listers voicing various animals.
And that all sounds great, but the trailer…I don’t know. There is just something about it that screams…blah blah blah blah blah blah.
I know it’s not right to judge a movie by one trailer, but for right now, I have zero interest in this film. By the way, it has a $175 million budget, and $50 million (or $90 million, depending on which report you believe) of that went to RDJ.
Check out the trailer below. It’ll hit theaters January 17, 2020.
