No one just “likes” a Rob Zombie film. You either absolutely love them or you absolutely hate them. I’ve never met anyone who was on the fence about Rob Zombie. You’re either over the fence partying with Rob…or you’re trying to build the fence higher so none of those freaks enter your yard.
Where do I stand? I’m over the fence. I enjoy his films simply because they’re so insane. His style is unique and you always know what to expect going in. However, I completely understand why some people hate his work.
And if you’re one of those people, you probably won’t like the trailer below. Zombie’s latest horror-thriller titled ‘31‘ premiered at Sundance earlier this year and will be released on September 16. According to blabbermouth, the film follows “five carnival workers who are kidnapped and held hostage in an abandoned, Hell-like compound where they are forced to participate in a violent game, the goal of which is to survive twelve hours against a gang of sadistic clowns.”
While watching the trailer, you might get a Hunger Games vibe, especially during the cutaway shots of the woman, who looks like she’s straight outta The Capitol, laughing her silly little head off.
The first two times Zombie presented the movie to the MPAA ratings board, it was hit with an NC-17 rating. He was forced to cut some of the film’s most violent scenes to get that R rating. But don’t worry, an unrated DVD version will be available to purchase.
