Are you a fan of Riverdale? It’s okay, you can admit it. We don’t judge here. My girlfriend got me watching the show, and I’m like 75% invested, which is 75% more than I thought I’d be.
KJ Apa, who stars as Archie in the show, is starting to land roles outside of the series now. According to a recent report, the 21-year-old New Zealand actor has been cast to play Christian music singer Jeremy Camp in Liongate’s faith-based biopic, I Still Believe.
The movie will reportedly shoot this spring and then will be released on March 20, 2020. Gary Sinise will reportedly play his father in the movie.
Brothers Jon and Andrew Erwin, and producing partner Kevin Downes are reteaming with the studio following the success of their 2018 faith-based film ‘I Can Only Imagine,’ which grossed $85 million worldwide. It’s the first project coming out of their film and TV first-look deal with Lionsgate, announced earlier this year.
There’s literally nothing Christian/faith-based about Riverdale, so it’ll be interesting to see Apa take on a completely different character. We’re assuming he won’t be boxing without a shirt on every five seconds in this film.
