‘Alien: Covenant‘ won’t hit theaters until May 19, but director Ridley Scott is already thinking about the next six films in the franchise.
The 79-year-old director told the Sydney Morning Herald that he could make six more Alien films, and if this upcoming movie is a box office hit, he’ll be ready to go next year with a sequel.
“If you really want a franchise, I can keep cranking it for another six. I’m not going to close it down again. No way. You don’t want a two-year gap (between films). So I’ll be ready to go again next year.”
If he actually does make six more films, that would bring the total number of prequels to eight, and the entire series would come in at 12.
It would be incredible if he can pull it off, but we’re not sure it’s possible. Like we mentioned above, he’s 79-years-old, so if somehow he managed to release a new film every single year, he’d still be 85 or 86 by the end. That’s a pretty demanding schedule for someone his age.
Although, Clint Eastwood has pumped out five films in the past six years, and he’s 86-years-old, so I guess anything is possible.
